annual meeting Tuesday afternoon
at the home of Miss E. Logan. The
secretary -treasurer, Mrs. Goodwin,
gave a splendid report of the• work
done during the year. The election
of officers took place with Rev.
Langford in the chair: President,
Mrs. R. Middleton; vice-pres., Mid
M. Fee; sec.-treas., Mrs. W. O.
Goodwin. Miss Logan served a de-
licious lunch.
A meeting of the Public Library
Board was held Monday evening in
the council chamber with the fol-
lowing members present: Kers-
lake, Blackwell, Mrs. Joynt, Ellis,
and Goodwin.

Secretary -Treasurer J. A. Pater-
son reported re,the likely cash bal-

was instructed to thank the Chrys-
ler Corporation for the book, "Life
of An American Workman,” which
was donated the Library.
The many friends of Mrs. Wm,
Kyle, of Kippen, will' regret to
learn suffered a fall oitside of her
home on Sunday morning. X-rays
taken at Clinton hospital revealed
a fractured left wrist.

Mrs., Edith McMartin, Mrs. Merger -
et Vair, Barrie, and Mrs. L. Simp-

Death of Mrs. Mary McKaig
Residents of the village and dis-
trict were shocked to learn of the
sudden passing of Mrs, Mary Mc-
Kaig, prominent and well-known
Hensel! resident, who died at her
Dome Tuesday evening following a
fall she suffered at her home Sun-
day morning. It is 'believed that
Mrs. McKaig suffered • a stroke and
fell down the stairs and was picked
up unconscious and never rallied.
She was in her 79th year, and fol-
lowing the death of her husband,
the late Angus McKaig, who con-
ducted a blacksmith shop at Chis°
e]hurst, Mrs. McKaig and her fam-
ily moved to the village some 30
years ago. Her sister, Miss Eliza
Pio
Newell, an invalid ; for many years,
had been tenderly oared for Iby :her
sister, Mrs. MCKai'g. Mrs. McKaig
was a valued member of the Unit-
ed
nited Church and always ` attended
church regularly and was preparing
to go to church last Sunday morn-
ing, and was always -ready and
willing to do her duties faithfully.
She will be much missed by her
family, her sister, and by a hosts of
neighbors and friends, who hold
her in highest esteem. Surviving
are one son, Donald, Seaforth, and
one daughter,. Mrs. Chas. 'Salter
(Mary), Wlingham; one sister, Mises
Newell, and some brothers in the
West. Private funeral service was
held from the Bonthron Funeral
Home Thursday at 2 •p.m., with
Rev. W. J. Rogers officiating. In-
terment was in Cromarty cemetery.

Additional Hensall News
Death of Mrs. Sara Drysdale
Mrs, Sara Johnston, beloved wife
of the late Robert Drysdale, passed
away in Clinton Public Hospital
Saturday, Nov. 25, in her 76th year.
She was the last surviving mem-
ber of the well known Johnston
family near Drysdale, and had been
a resident of Michigan for many
years, spending some time with her
sister in Zurich, the late Jemima
Johnston. The body rested at the
Westlake Funeral Home, Zurich,
until Monday. Nov, 27, when re-
moval was made to the Marsh Fun-
eral home in. Marlette, Mich.,
where burial took place. An adopt-
ed daughter is the sole survivor of
the family, Rev. L. Griffin had
charge of the funeral.
Funeral services were conducted
Thursday, Nov. 30, at Pasadena,
CO_ for William D. Bonthron, re-
tired Detroit executive, who died
at the hospital following a cerebral
hemorrhage. Services were held
at the Chapel of Turner and Stev-
ens Company, conducted by Rev.
Geo. W. Hill, pastor of Pasadena's
First Baptist Church, Interment
was at Forest Lawn Memorial
Park. Mr, Bonthron, who was born
at Rogerville, south of Hensall,
was the son of the late Mr, and
Mrs. Robert ,Bonthron. and was the
father of William R. Bonthron,
famous mile runner of Princeton
University in the '30's. He was 73
years of age and went to Pasadena
in 1938, after retiring as chairman
of the Board of Price, Waterhouse
Company, accounting firm, New
York, which has offices in a num-
ber of cities, including Los Ange-
les. He was a member of the Cali-
fornia Club in Los Angeles. Be-
sides his son, Mr. Bonthron is sur-
vived by his wife, Mr8. Katherine
Bonthron, and a daughter, Mrs.
