Societies Hold Thankoffering
The autumn thankoffering of the
Bethel" W -A, and W.M-S, was held
in the church with a splendid at-
tendance
ttendance of about 89. The mem-
bers of Winthrop, Duff's and Wal-
ton were guests. The theme for
the meeting was "One in Christ."
Hymn '377, "Lord of Light Whose
Name Outshineth," was sung, fol -
loved with prayer by Mrs. L. Leem-
io:, Psalm 734 was read respon-
sively and the Scripture read from
Matthew taken by Mrs. I, Leem-
ing, DorothyDodds favored with a
solo. The topic, "The United
Church Re-enters Japan," was in
charge of Mrs E. Mills, with Mrs.
Wm, Roe taking the pari of the
United Church in Canada, and Mrs.
L. Bolton, the Church in Japan.
Rev, H. E, Livingstone offered
Prayer, after which the offering
was received: and dedicated. A
solo, sung by Mrs, H. Traviss, was
elrjoyed. Hyena 247 was sung. The
guest speaker, Dr. Grierson, gave
a message on Korea and his life's
work there. He stressed the va-
lue of prayer in one's life, A vote
of thanks to Dr. Grierson and solo-
ists was tendered by Mrs, C. Boyd.
Hymn 255 was sung and the prayer
hymn, ' `•Holy Spirit, Pray," was
sung as a closing prayer by Mrs.
S. Killen. The benediction • by Rev,
H. E. Livingstone closed the .meet-
ing, and a social half-hour was
spent_
