The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. McNichol, R.R. 2, Walton, and the
late Duncan McNichol, while the bride was the former Dorothy Belle
Watt.

White and yellow mums adorn-
ed the altar of St. Patrick's Church,
Dublin, on Saturday, Oct. 21. for
the wedding of Miss Geraldine
Frances 'Teresa Dillon. Reg,N.,
:laughter of Mr. and Mrs, Louis
Dillon. Dublin, and Mr. Wilfred
Joseph Duffy, Ingersoll, son of Mr.
Harold Duffy and the late Mrs.
Duffy. Rev. J. B. Ffoulkes, D.C.L.,
officiated at the ceremony and sang
the Nuptial Mass. Mrs. Wm. Lane
presided at the organ and the
Misses Geraldine and Patricia Ry-
an sang "Panic Angelicus" at the
Offertory and "Ave Maria" during
the signing of the register. Given
in marriage by her father, the
bride wore a gown of white slip-
per satin with sweetheart neckline
outlined with lace banding. It had
a shirred satin bodice blending in-
to a skirt of three satin tiers, alter-
nating with chantilly lace. Long
lily -point sleeves and a full-length
embroidered silk veil held by a
tiara of rhinestone pearls. com-
pleted her costume. She carried a
shower, bouquet of red roses. The
maid of honor was Miss Madeline
Dillon, Kitchener, and the brides-
maids were Miss Marie Dillon, In-
gersoll, and Miss Dorothy Dillon,
Dublin, all sisters of the bride. The
maid of honor wore a gown of daf-
fodil chiffon with square neck in
bow effect, gold -studded headdress
with matching veil and mittens.
Miss Marie Dillon was gowned in
chartreuse taffeta with square neck
and button trim, silver -studded
headdress with matching veil and
mittens. Miss Dorothy Dillon wore
a lavender taffeta gown with nylon
yoke; a panel of bows trimmed the
skirt a11(1 a lavender headdress
with matching veil and mittens
completed her ensemble. All at-
tendants carried nosegays of roses
and mums matching their cos-
tumes. The best man was • Mr,
Joseph Duffy, Ingersoll, brother of
the bridegroom, and the ushers

were Mr. Maurice Dillon, Dublin,
and Mr. Leo Kirwin, Ingersoll,
brother and cousin of the 'bride and
bridegroom respectively, Follow-
ing the ceremony a wedding din-
ner and reception was held at the
Royal Hotel, Mitchell, The bride's
mother received the guests wear-
ing a wine dress of tissue faille
with matching accessories. She
was assisted by the bridegroom's
sister, wearing a gown .of navy
sheer with matching accessories.
Each wore a corsage of yellow
baby mums. For travelling, the
bride chose a brown gabardine
suit with yellow accessories and
matching corsage of baby mums.
Following a honeymoon trip to
Northern Ontario, Mr. and Mrs.
Duffy will reside in Woodstock.
The bride is a graduate of St.
Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, and
for the past three years has been
on the staff of Alexandra Hospital,
Ingersoll.
'Prior to her marriage she was
feted at various showers. Mrs.
Thomas Hanlon sponsored a show-
er at the Nurses' Residence, when
the bride was presented with an
electric lamp. The kitchen staff
presented her with a silver tray.
Mrs. Roy Scott entertained at a
miscellaneous shower, when she
was the recipient of various gifts
of china, silver and linen. Mrs.
James P. Krauskopf and Miss Mar-
garet Givlin, Dublin, also sponsor-
ed a shower honoring the bride.
Mrs. Krauskopf read a congratu-
latory address and Miss Givlin as-
sisted the guest of honor to open
numerous practical gifts: Several
games of bingo were played and
lunch was served.
The bridegroom was also honor-
ed at Ingersoll at two parties, when
he was presented with a tri -light
floor lamp and an occasional chair.

About thirty members of the Kip -
pen East Women's Institute met at
the home of Mrs. W. Bell on Sat-
urday, Oct. 21, for the short course
on "Home Furnishings." Mrs. W.
Kyle was co -hostess. This short
course took the place of the regu-
lar monthly meeting. The course
was in charge of Miss Taggart, of
Toronto, and was started at 10:00
a.m. Miss Taggart demonstrated
arranging of furniture for comfort,
also for suitability to the purpose
for which the room is used, to elim-
inate all pieces not etisential to the
convenience and ease of family
life. She also gave some very good
hints on how to clean polished
furniture and ways of preserving
it. At noon everyone sat down to
a bountifully laden table for a pot-
luck dinner. During the noon hour
a short 'business period was held.
Mrs. R. Love was named delegate
to the London Area Convention. It
was decided the bus trip will be
November 16 to the Icecapades,
Toronto. At the close of the course
Mrs. J. Sinclair moved a vote of
thanks to Miss Taggart, and to the
hostess for the use of her home.

W.M.S. Holds Thankoffering
The Women's Missionary Society
of Carmel Presbyterian Church ob-
served their thankoffering meeting
in the church schoolroom Thursday
afternoon, Oct. 19, and had as
their guest speaker, 112rs. D. Glenn
Campbell, of First .Presbyterian
Church, Seaforth, who addressed
the meeting, rising "'2hanitsgiving"

the evotions were given by Miss
Violet Hyde and Mrs. 'Geo. Walker.
Mrs. Jas. 'Bonthron favored with a
vocal solo, and Mrs. Jas. A. Pater-
son and Mrs. Malcolm Dougall, a
vocal duet, Mrs. Dougall accom-
panied at the piano. Mrs. B. Ed-
wards moved a vote of thanks to
the speaker and those who con-
tributed to the program. The school
room was lovely with baskets of
autumn toned flowers. Delicious
'efreshments were served.
A dinner meeting of the Cham-
ber of Commerce was held at
Brenner's Hotel at Grand Bend on
Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock. The
members treated their wives and
lady friends to a turkey dinner
with all the trimmings, followed
by a picture show in Grend Bend
Theatre, Mrs. R. H. Middleton
gave a reading, and lucky tickets
were drawn for prizes, Following

Mrs. W. R. Davidson, Miss Jean
Armstrong, Miss Elsie Case, Mrs.
W. 0. Goodwin, Mrs. R. E. Shad -

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Redden,

spent the week -end 'with Mrs. C.
Hedden and Herb.
At the bingo held mast Saturday
night, sponsored by the Legion
Ladies' Auxiliary, Mrs. Clarence
Reid won the door prize, a roast-
ing pan.
Howard Small, an employee of
Hensall District Co-op., while un-
loading at the mill the other day,
jumped off a truck and landed on
a stone. X-rays at Clinton Hos-
pital revealed a bone in his foot
fraotured0 and will be la a east
for quite some time.

of Ilumsden, Sask., are spending
the winter at the Presbyterian:
Manse, the guests of Rev. and Mrs.
