of honor, who will be a resident

and Mrs. C. Feeney assisted the
bride-to-be to open assorted gifts!

were played and the sponsors with
their assistants served a delicious
unch.
An unusually large shipment of
choice cattle left Dublin stock
yards on Saturday for Toronto.
The cattle numbering approximate-
ly 150, were shipped by the U.F.O.
organization and by Gardiner
Bros., Cromarty. The shipment of
Alex Gardiner included 75 head,
which were purchased about a
year ago and averaged about 1400
pounds. Their value was estimat-
ed at more than $400 each. They
were sold to J. W. Mosse, Canada
Packers. Toronto.
A. previous shipment of Alex
Gardiner, which had been purchas-
ed in Southern Alberta in October,
1947, at $12,75 per hundred, were
sold to the same firm in Septem-
ber. 1949, for $26 per cwt.

of Windsor, on July 15. The groom
is a cousin of W. T. Kyle and D.
E. Kyle, of Kippen. Entering the
church on the arm of her father,
who gave herr . in marriage, the
bride was lovely in an original
owp of eggshell satin, fashioned
virtth a Queen Anne collar and a
bodice of rosepointe lace, with
long sleeves forming points on her
hands. The colonial skirt was
caught with clusters of orange
blossoms to show the lace -trimmed
hooped petticoat, and extended in-
to a four -yard train edged with
Chantilly lace, Her fingertip veil
of illusion was held in a Juliet cap
caught with orange blossoms, and
she carried a cascade of red and.
white roses. Miss Elsie Wink, the
bride's sister, as maid of honor,
wore an ice green gown of satin
and Lace. A Chantilly lace jacket
with a small rolled collar and
three -quarter -length sleeves topped
a strapless satin bodice and full
skirt of the same lace, Miss Mary
Bogl, as bridesmaid, wore .a mauve
taffeta dress styled with a gather-
ed Bertha and a full colonial skirt.
Both' attendants wore satin and
lace picture hats and carried cas-
cades of Talisman and yellow ros-
es. Mr. Jack Royan was best man
and the ushers were Mr, Peter
Wink, brother of the bride, and
Mr. Bob Boots. Mrs, Winnie Mac-
Lellan sang "Until," "The Lord's
Prayer" an "Through the Years."
A ieception for 100 guests follow-
ed at the Trombly Hall, the bride's
table being centred with a three -
tiered wedding cake and bowls of

returned from Europe from at-
tending a convention there. Mrs.
W. Rivers, of St. Thomas, •will el-

give an address. The late hus-
bands of Mrs. Knight and Mrs
Rivers were former pastors in
Hensall.
Death of Robert James Wright
r. Robert James Wright, prom-
inent Kippen resident, passed
away suddenly at his home Thurs-
day, August 10, the result of a
stroke, in his 74th year. Born near
Newcastle, he was the 8011 of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wright,
and 'had been a resident of Kippen
for the past 23 years. In 1908 he
married Annie Stewart, of Mit-
chell, and following their marriage
they took up residence at Crom-
arty, where they lived for 18 years,
moving from there to Kippen,
where they have since resided,
Mr. Wright was a member of Car-
mel Presbyterian Church, Hen-
sall, and was an upright citizen,
his word being as good as his
bond. He was very fond of his
Thome and his family, Surviving
are 'his widow; two sons, Gordon,
High School Inspector for Physi-
cal Education, Toronto; Frank,
Kippen; one daughter. (Laura
Belle) Mrs. Orland Reichert,. Hen -
sail; five grandchildren; foqr sis-
ters, Mrs. Maude Dalton and Mrs.
J. 11. Nichols, Toronto; Mrs. Earl
Ross, Science Hill; Mrs. Herb.
Kercher, Hensall, and two broth-
ers, Howard, Cromarty, and Wil-
liam, Washington, D.C. Private
funeral services were held from
his late residence Saturday, Aug.
12, at 2 p.m., conducted .by Rev.
W. A. Young, of Guelph, a former
pastor, who officiated in the ab-
sence of Rev. P. A. Ferguson. Mr.
Young paid high tribute to the
Life of the deceased. A favorite
hymn of the deceased, "Onward,
Christian Soldiers," was sung by
request. Interment was in Wood-
land cemetery, Mitchell, in the
family plot. Pallbearers were Al-
fred Moffatt, Orville Workman,
James Mustard, Emmerson Kyle,!
George Glenn and Earl Kinsman.
Floral tributes were many and
lovely, showing the esteem in
which the deceased was held. At-
tending the funeral from a dis-
tance were Mrs. Frank Wright,
Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. John Nich-
ols and Mr. and Mrs. George Nich-
ols, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs, Earl
Ross, Science Hill; Professor Bak-
er and Mrs. Baker, Guelph; Mrs.

Death of Almond D. McEwan
The death occurred Thursday of
Almond D. McEwan at his home
in Hensall. He had undergone an
operation and did not recover
from the effects. He was a veter-
an of World War I, also a mem-
ber of the Canadian Legion, Huron
Lodge A.F. & A.M., and was a
member of Carmel Presbyterian
Church. He is survived by his
widow, the former Inez Farrow, of
Paisley; one daughter, (Donna)
Mrs. Harry Smith, Hensall; one
sister, Mrs. H. Watcher, Grande
Prairie, Alta., and four •brothers,
Dr. J. McEwan, Carleton Place;
Wm. McEwan, Edmonton; Ervin
McEwan, Sarnia, and Earl McEw-
an, Toronto.
Death of John R. Stewart
John R. Stewart, life-long resi-
dent of Usborne Township, passed
away at his home Tuesday, Aug.
15, in his 72nd year, following a
lengthy illness. He was born on
the Stewart homestead on the 3rd
concession of Usborne, where he
resided all his life. He was a

elder of the church. Surviving are
his widow, the former Mae Car-
michael of Staffa; one brother,
Duncan Stewart, Hensall, and two
sisters, Mrs, Thomas Elder and
Mrs, William Elder, Seaforth. Pub-
lic funeral services were held from
his late residence Thursday, with
interment in Staffa cemetery,

Mr. and Mrs. J. L. MoCloy and
Kathryn Anne, of Toronto, were
week -end holiday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. George Hess.
Hensall handed Dashwood their
first defeat of the season Friday
night, Aug. 4, when they defeat-
ed them 11-9 in a W.O.A.A. girls'
softball Intermediate 'B' (play-off
in Dashwood. This is the first
game in a two -out -of -three series.
Kelly went all the way for Hen-
sall with Stephan behind the
plate. Tiernan pitched the whole
gauge for Dashwood, with Webb
catching. Ann Hildebrandt hit a
home -run with two on bases for
Hensall in the second, and Shir-
ley Deitz made a sensational catch
to retire Dashwood in the ninth
to end the game. R.
