Mother's Day was observed in
First Presbyterian Church ,on Sun-
day when the Sunday School pupils
occupied the front seats of the
church auditorium, while the older
girls sang a number in the choir.
Ronald. Mason also sang a solo,
which was composed by his father,
Mr. Harvey Mason. Rev, D. Glenn
Campbell spoke on "God Works
Through Homes," while Sheila Mc-
Fadden and Hugh Gorwill read the
Scripture lessons. Mrs. M. R. Ren-
nie

Roy - Houston. — Egmondville
United Church Manse was the
scene of a quiet but smart wed-
ding on Saturday at 3 o'clock,
when Frances Isobel, daughter of
Mr. and Mre. Andrew Houston, of
Egmondville, and Lionel Cecil Roy,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Azairas Roy,
of McGlenworth, a Sask., were unit-
ed in marriage. Rev. A. W. Gard-
iner performed the ceremony. At-
tending the bride was Miss Wilba
Pretty, while Grant Houston was
groomsman. The bride was given
in marriage by her father, and
wore a blue gabardine suit with
navy and white accessories and a
corsage of red roses. The brides-
maid wore a navy suit with pink
accessories and pink carnations
for her corsage. Following the wed-
ding a reception dinner was held
at the home of the bride's parents
for the immediate families. Mr.
and Mrs. Roy will reside in Lon-
don.

Morey - Shannon.—A very pretty
wedding took place at Northside
Church Parsonage on Saturday, at
high noon, when Rev. D. A. Mac-
Millan united in marriage Audrey
Jeahr, daughter of Mr. and. Mrs,
Hiram Shannon, Seaforth, and
Robert S. Morey, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Morey, of Mitchell. The
bride was given in marriage by
her father and was attractively at-
tired in a navy blue gabardine suit
with navy and pink accessories,
and a corsage of pink roses. Her
attendant was her sister, Miss
Eleanor Shannon, who wore a
black and white checked suit of
gabardine, gray and pink accessor-
ies and carried yellow flowers. Mr.
Elgin Wolfe was groomsman. A
reception followed at which there
were 20 guests present. Mrs. Don-
ald Fry -and Mrs. Russell Hodgert
were the waitresses for the lunch-
eon. Following the reception the
happy couple left for points east,
the bride travelling in a navy suit,
and on their reurn will reside in
Seaforth.

band sate is survived by a son,,

Smillie, Reg.N.,, of Toronto, and ~a
brother, James Smillie, of Cal=
gary, Alta. Her parents and two
brothers, William and Leonard,
predeceased her. The funeral was
held Wednesday from the Box
Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m., with Rev.
D. Glenn Campbell, of First Pres-
byterian Church officiating. Dur-
ing the service Jas. T. Scott sang
"Beyond the Sunsett. The pall-
bearers were . A. G. Smillie,
James Smillie, Clarence Smillie,
Arthur Routledge, Frank Lamont
and, Roy McGonigle. Interment
was in Baird's cemetery.
Death of Mrs. W. J.Sillery.
The death took place Wednesday
in Seaforth of Margaret Matilda
Johnston, widow of the late Wm.
J. Sillery in her 88th year. Mrs.
Sillery was ill only ten. days. Born
in McKillop the daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Johnston,.
she was the last surviving member
of a family of seven sisters. She is,
survived by three daughters: Mrs.
Elizabeth Kruse and Mrs. John
Modeland, Egmondville, and Mrs.
John Quail, of London, and a
grandson, George S. Kruse. De-
ceased was educated at S.S. No. 4,
McKillop, and was married in 1881
to Mr. Sillery, who predeceased
her in 1932. - Mrs. Sillery was a
member of Egmondville' United
Church. -The funeral will take
place on Friday, at 2:30. p.m. from
the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Elizabeth Kruse, Egmondville, with
Rev. A. W. Gardiner officiating.
Interment will be in Maitlandbank
cemetery.

Death of Miss Sarah Brown.—
One
rown.One of the oldest residents of
this district, in the person of
Miss Sarah Brown, of Harpurhey,
passed away at the home of her
nephew, Mr. Joseph Grummett, on
Wednesday, in her 95th year, fol-
lowing an illness of three weeks.
Miss Brown lived -'alone in the old
home where she was born in Har-
purhey. She took a keen interest
in raising flowers and always had
many beautiful displays. She was
of a kind, assuming manner and
was highly respected in the com-
munity. A member of St. Thomas'
Anglican Churchshe was a faith-
ful attendant while health permit-
ted, The funeral will take place
Saturday from the G. A. Whitney
Funeral Chapel at 2:30 p.m., with
Rev. T. Date Jones officiating. In-
terment will be in Maitlandbank
cemetery.

at the home of Mrs. T. W. McMil-
lan Wednesday afternoon, May 3,
in honor of Miss Mary Dorrance,
bride of this week. A short ad-
dress was read by Mrs. T. McMil-
lan, while Lois Scott and Barbara
and Jim Coleman presented the
bride-to-be with a basket overflow-
ing with useful miscellaneous gifts.
Following is the address: "Dear
Mary: We, your friends • and neigh-
bors, have assembled here this af-
ternoon to spend a little time with
you prior to the happy event which
is to take place Saturday of this
week. Although you have been in
this vicinity but a short time, you
have endeared yourself to the
hearts of us all, and we are pleas-
ed that you are going to live in
this locality and be one -of our
neighbors. The grand old stone
house has come to life again and
we hope that you and your Prince
Charming niay long be spared for,
a happy married life. We will now
ask you to kindly accept these
gifts, trusting you may find them
useful and helpful in your new

ham.—A funeral service was held
in
Wingham. for Mrs. John E.
Homuth from the family residence.
Rev. Alex Nimmo, of St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church, officiated,
with burial in Wingham cemetery.
Born in Grey Township, Mrs. Hom-
uth who was in her 76th year, was
a former resident of Seaforth prior
to moving to Wingham. She was
a member of the Presbyterian
Church, Surviving are four daugh-
ters: Mrs. Norval Stimore, Wal-
ton; Mrs. J. R. Templeman, Wing -
ham; Mrs. B. H. Bedford, Niagara
Falls: Mrs. John Baeker, Wheat-
ley. A sister Mrs. Robert Hogg,
Seaforth, and( a brother, Thomas
Grieve, Egtnondville, also survive.

May 15, Mary`Ann Ryan, widow of
the late John Woods, formerly of
