The bride looked charming in a long gown of white slipper satin, fea- turing a slight train. The yoke. of net was trimmed with pleated satin and the long sleeves ended in lily points over the hands. Her three- quarter veils was of imported French illusion and her only orna- ment was the bridegroom's gift, a gold cross. The bridal bouquet was of red Briarcliffe roses. Miss Flor- ence Moore; sister of the bride, as maid of honor, was wearing a floor length gown of orchid taffeta,.frash- icned with fitted bodice, net yoke and bustle -back skirt. Her braided headdress and mittens harmonized with her gown, and ehe wore a gold locket. Serve a hot and hearty meal in one dish such as cheese spaghetti, creamed eggs on biscuits, baked, beans in casser- ole, waffles and: maple syrup, cur- ried rice with bacon, or salmon burgers. Many foods are now avail- able in prepared mixes at a reason- able price . . . the spaghetti is packaged with grated cheese; the dried eggs in tins; biscuit mix in boxes; and then there is waffle mix, bottled syrup, instant rice, canned sausages, bread roll mix, instant coffee, and canned cream or evaporated milk. Some of these foods require bak- ing, but even this does not prevent having an amount already cooked for a crowd if you have freezing space in the refrigerator for keep- ing. However, if you have work- ing space in the kitchen, it is a good thing to encourage the 'teen- agers to concoct their own refresh- ments. A reception at the home of the bride's parents follow- ed the ceremony, The bridal table centred with a four -tier wedding cake, was decorated with pink and white streamers and pink tapers in silver holders. Those assisting were Miss Audrey Moore, Mitchell, cou-' sin of the bride; :Miss Hannah Mar- tin, St. Marys; ;Miss June Klie, Waterloo, and, Miss Eleanor Fraser Of Kitchener. On their return' from a trip through Northern Ontario, Mr. and M'rs. Shelley will reside on the bridegroom's farm, R. R. 1, Em'bro. The bride travelled' in a wine coat accented with black ac- cessories. The bridegroom's gift to, the bridal attendants were brace- lets. The best man received a wal- let; the ushers, tie clip. and the organist and assistants, cups and saucers. Guests at the wedding were from Embro, Seaforth, Dub- lin, St. Marys, Mitchell, Kitchener, Waterloo and Preston. C. R. Coultes, Belgrave (standing) and R. t. ,McKercher, Dub- lin, will lead the Huron Federation of Agriculture in 1950, as president and vice-president; respectively. Sift togethe flour, b'kking powder, sugar, soda ginger and salt; add to first mix ture. Mix in the milk well. Chil until firm in refrigerator. N. requests recipes fa i.oughnuts that do not have to be rolled out: Nimble Doughnut's 11/2 cups sifted flour 2 teaspoons: baking powder % teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon melted! shorten- ing % cup sugar 2 egg yolks 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1 tablespoon orange rind % cup milk Lard for deep fat frying. Sift flour with baking powder ;ne salt. Beat together thorough - y lard, shortening, sugar, egg :: ollos, vanilla and orange rind. Ad'd milk.' Stir in the dry ingredients until thoroughly mixed. Drop bat- ter by small spoonfuls into deep hot fat at 360 degrees. Fry until brown on one side, then the other. Makes about 18 doughnuts. Mrs. T. BUY CHRISTMAS SEALS The strategy of the fight, against Tuberculosis is developed in the Mass X -Ray Clinic, monthly referred clinics in Wingham, Goderich and Sea - forth, X -Ray chest examinations for hospital admissions, the installation of X -Ray equipment in our hospiitals and provision for the treatment of active cases in the Adam Beck Memorial Sana- torium at Byron. With reference to the installation of X -Ray equipment, the County Executive is undertaking this year to install X -Ray equipment in Clinton Public Hospital at a cost of $5,100, so, that a new regular chest clinic service can be provided. As soon as funds are available, it is ' ontemplated that the other Hospitals in Huron County will • receive this same equipment.
