the president, Miss C. Holmes, in
the chair. The meeting opened'
with the W.A. Litany for October,
followed by the member's' and
Lord's Prayer in unison. Mrs. T.
Dale Jones read the Scripture les-
son, taken from the Gospel for All
Saints' Day, St. Matthew 5:1-12.
All reports were adopted as read,
and it was arranged that as many
as possible attend the Deanery
meeting in Hensall on Wednesday.

when Rev. D. Glenn Campbell
showed interesting pieturee of 'hie
holiday trip to Northern Ontario
during the past summer; also one
of the church, factories and busi-
ness places on Main Street of town.
The Scripture lesson was read by
Eleanor Storey, and Maty Geddes
gave the prayer. "Beautiful Dream-
er" was sung by Mrs. F. Kling, ac-
companied by Mrs. R. .McMillan,
Lunch was 'served at the close of
the meeting by Mrs. C. Reith, the
'convener, and Miss Alice Reid.
Ladies' Aid Holds Meeting,—Mrs.
H. R. Scott presided over the regu-
lar meeting of the Ladies Aid of
First Presbyterian Ohurch on
Tuesday afternoon, when there
was a Large attendance present.
An article was read on "Remem-
brance Day" by Mrs. Scott, who
also led in prayer. The various re-
ports were read, after which Mrs.
Walker Hart sang, "On Canadians,
On," and was accompanied by Mrs.
M. R. Rennie. Mrs. D. Ritchie, in
her own pleasing manner, gave a
word picture of the Peace Tower
in Ottawa, telling of every detail
as she saw it. Mrs. J. E. Daley
closed the meeting with prayer.

Presbyterian W. M. S. Meets.—
The W.M.S. of First Presbyterian
Church was privileged to hear on
Tuesday last Miss Elsie Davidson,
returned missionary from British
Guiana when she gave an inspir-
ing and challenging message on
cher work and what we can do in
the mission fields, where she spent
the past three years. Mrs. Robert
Eberhart presided over the meet-
ing and opened the meeting with
a hymn and prayer. The Scripture
lesson was taken by- Mrs. James
Kerr on the ten lepers, who also
commented on the subject. Mrs.
D. Ritchie gave a prayer of thanks-
giving. The collection, which was
received by Mrs. T. S. Smith and
Mrs. Harry Stewart, amounted to
$79.10. Mrs. F. Kling sang "Teach
Me To Pray," and the closing
prayer was given by Mrs. D. G.
Campbell, which brought to an end
another successful thanksgiving
service. Refreshments were serv-
ed to 60 ladies.
Seaforth Branch of the Canadian Legion will hold Remem-
brance Day Services on Friday, November lith, at 1.0.30 a.m., at
the Soldiers' Memorial in Victoria Park.
The Legion wishes to extend' a very cordial welcome to all
School Children, Boy Scouts, Girl 'Guides, Councils of Seaforth,
Tuckersmith and McKillop, and all other organizations, and the
general public.
The Parade will leave the Post Office, headed by the Seaforth
Highlanders Baud, arriving at the Cenotaph at 10.30 a.m. In the
event of inclement weather, the Service will be held in Cardaio's
Hall, commencing at 10.30 a.m.

and (Christena) Mrs. Herbert Fowl-
er of Seaforth; also 20 grandchil-

side her husband in the Gilroy

Northside W. A. Meets. — The
November meeting of Group 3 of
the W.A. of Northside United
Church was held on Tuesday eve-
ning at the home of Mrs. E. C.
Chamberlain. The meeting open-
ed ,with the president, Miss Hoag,
reading a poem;"As Often As We
Pray" and leading in prayer. The
Scripture lesson was read by Mrs.
Eroadfoot. `. Misses Marion Cham-
berlain and Gwendolyn Christie
Sang "H_ark; . 'Tis the Shepherd's,
Vdiee I Hear,'" very sweetly. Roll
earl was answered by 23 members,
naming yourbirthday month. Four
visitors were present. Mrs. Leem-
ing, the guest speaker, took for
her subject, "Our Heritage." A
reading, "Maggie's Gift," was giv-
en by Mrs. W. Bradshaw. Hymn
148, "Breathe On Me, Breath of
God," was snug and the meeting
closed with the Mizpah Benedic-
tion. A contest was conducted by
Mrs. Knight. The social commit-
tee then eervelj a cup of tea and
a social half-hour was spent.

Sister Dies in Manitoba, — Mrs.
Emma Ewart, 74, of Winnipeg, sis-
ter of Mrs. Edwin Hunt, of Mc-
Killop, died at the home of her
daughter,' Mrs: --S. F. Marsh, of
Selkirk, Man. She was a daughter
or the late Mr. and Mrs. W.
Moxley and a sister of the late L.
Moxley who resided ' in Guelph.
Mrs. Ewart graduated as 'le nurse
from Minneapolis City Hospital in
1897. Following the Spanish-Amer-
ican war, she was appointed super-
visor in the Minneapolis district
military hospital. Funeral services
were held at Selkirk, with burial
in the family plot in Elmwood
cemetery. Dr. Garner Dickey of-
ficiated. Surviving are two daugh-
ters, Mrs. S. F. Marsh, of Selkirk,
and Mrs. L. W. Jones, Winnipeg.
Two surviving brothers are Chas.
M•oxley, Guelph, and Orlando Mox-
ley, Dorchester, Ont., and.asister,
Mrs. Edwin Hunt, McKillop.

Death of Susie Munroe — The
death occurred in Scott Memorial
Hospital on Tuesday, Nov. 1, of
Susie Munro, following an illness'
of three years. She was the former
Susie Hensley and was -born in
North Dakota 62 years ago, com-
ing to Canada in 1908. Surviving
are one son, George Munro, and
two daughters, Mrs. Dale Nixon,
Tuckersmith, and Mrs. Ray Mason,
Acton; also a brother, Roy Hems -
ley, California, and two sisters,
Mrs 'Harvey Hunter,‘, of .South
Dakota,, and Mrs. Howard Dunlop,
California. Deceased was -a mail
courier for the past three years.
She was a member of First Pres-
byterian Church. The funeral was
held Thursday afternoon from the
G. A. Whitney Funeral Chapel
with Rev. D. Glenn Campbell of-
ficiating. Interment was in Mait-
landbenk cemetery, the pallbearers
being B. F. Christie, Len Itoefure,
W. M. Stewart, Robert Watson,
Fred Johnston and Reg. 'Kerslake.

Death. of Elizabeth C. Nelians.—
.The death occurred in Scott•'Mem-
orial Hospital on Sunday afternoon
of Miss 'Elizabeth Carens Neleans,
one of Seaforth's best known and
most loved citizens. She had' been
only a few .daysin hospital,. but
had previously been three weeks

accident there. She suffered a
stroke six days ago and was tak-
en to hospital. Miss Neilans in
recent years made her home with -
Crown Attorney H. Glenn Hays.
In both world wars Miss Neilans
was an ardent knitter for the Red
Cross. She was a faithful member
of First Presbyterian Churcb, and
the Ladies' Aid and W.M.S. She
was born in Roxboro and attended
school at S.S. No. 2, McKillop.
Surviving are a brother, Mr. Alex
Neilans, of Clinton,, and a sister,
Mrs. W. M. Stewart, Seaforth. The
funeral was held Wednesday af-
ternoon from the G. A. Whitney
Funeral Chapel, with Rev. D. Glenn
Campbell officiating. Interment
was in .Harpurhey cemetery, the
pallbearers being Robert Grieve,
Robert Scott, Wm. McDowell, Jas.
Neilans, Ivan Forsyth and Scott
Cluff.

Death of Mrs. James Hackwell
The death occurred on Wednes-
day of Emma Godkin, widow of the
late James Hackwell, at the home
of her son-in-law, Mr. Jas. Coutts,
following a sudden attack of heart
trouble. Deceased was born in Mc-
Killop 76 years ago and, was mar-
ried in Providence Manse. McKil-
lop, her husband paseing away in
August, 1948. Surviving are one
laughter, Mrs. Jas. Coutts, McKil-
lop, and a brother, Alex Godikin, of
British Columbia. She was a mem-
ber of Duff's Church, Walton. The
funeral will be held Friday after-
noon from the home of her seinen-
law, Mr. Jas. Coutts, with Rev. R.
G. Hazlewood officiating. Inter-
ment will be in etaitlandbank cem-
etery.

reside on the bridegroom's farm,

Chrysanthemums in pink, white
and mauve shades adorned the al-'
tar of St. Columban Roman Cath-
olic •church, St. Columban, Satur-
day morning at 9.30 o'clock when
Grace Josephine, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs, Joseph Connelly, McKil-
lop Township, became the -bride of
Mr. Dominic Patrick Murray, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Murray,
also of Mc Killo . Rev. F. J.

O'Drowski officiated at the double
ring ceremony. Mrs, Vincent Lane,
McKillop; presided at " the organ,
acid Mr's. Thomas Kale, Seaforth,
sang an "Ave Maria" and "On This
Day, 0 Beautiful Mother." Given in
marriage by her .father, the bride
wore a lovely gown of white bridal
satin, buttoned down the back,
featuring a stand-up collar with
bead trimming, and long tight
sleeves ending in lily points. The
skirt extended into a train. Her
embroidered veil was held in place
by a coronet headdress encrusted
with rhinestones, and she carried
a bouquet of red American Beauty,
roses with satin streamers. The
maid of honor, Miss Rita Connelly,
London, and the bridesmaid, Miss
Marie Connelly, sisters of the
bride, wore taffeta gowns in aqua-
marine and orchid shades, respec-
tively. The gowns were fashioned
with nylon yokes and bertha,neck-
lines, edged with lace. The long
full skirts were in bustle -back ef-
fect. They wore large lace picture
hats and long mittens, 'harmoniz-
ing with their gowns. Their flow-
ers were bouquets of bronze -toned
roses. The flower girl, Rosemary
Murray, niece of the bridegroom,
was in a pastel green frock with
poke bonnet to match her frock.
She carried a nosegay of mixed
flowers. Wily Murray, nephew of
the bridegroom, was ring bearer,
wearing a navy jacket and white
trousers. Mr. Frank Murray was
best man. for his brother, and the
ushers were Mr. Thomas Murray
and Mr. Michael Connelly. The
bride's smother wore a wine suit,
accented with navy accessories,
and a white carnation corsage.
Mrs. Murray, mother -of the bride-
groom, was dressed in gray with
wine accessories, and wore a cor-
sage of red carnations. Following
the wedding dinner at the Commer-
cial Hotel, Seaforth, a reception
was held at the home of the bride's
parents for guests from Stratford,
Mitchell, London and Kitchener,

open meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 8,
at 820, when the 'autograph quilt
will be sold.
