Aid of First Presbyterian Church -
met an the school room of the
church on Tuesday afternoon with
Mrs. H. R. Scott in the chair.
There was a good attendance pre-
sent to hear Rev. T. Dale Jones
give an address on "Where Do
You Live?" which proved most in-
teresting and helpful. Mrs. David
Ritchie led in prayer, and Mr.
John Beattie read two of his
poems, "Sunset" and "You and
Me.'' Lunch was served at the
close of the meeting with Mrs.
Harry Stewart as convener.
Hold Rally Day Services.—There
was a large attendance of children,
parents and friends at the Rally
Day services held in First Presby-
terian Church on Sunday morning,
waen, the superintendent, Mr. M.
aacKellar, presided over the pro-
grain:- 'The Scripture lesson was
read by Keetorie Pethick, while

The ushers were Maurice Hicknell
and Jack O'Reilly, cousins of the

evening, Oct. 4. Mrs. T. D. Sills,
the president, opened the meeting
with prayer, followed by the read-
ing of the minutes by Mrs. F. Din-
woodie. Plans were made for the
tea and bazaar to be held early in
December. A day of recollection
will be held on the list Sunday of
October in honor of the Feast of
Christ the King. An interesting
reading on Devotion to the Holy
Rosary was given 'by Mrs. I.

Mother Dies,in Listowel. — The
death occurred on Monday of Mrs.
David Campbell, at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Cooke,
Liatowel, in her 71st year. M. and
Mrs. Campbell lived in Seaforth for
almost a: year, before his passing.
Deceased is survived by a family
of ten: Mrs. Gordon McCannel, of
Holstein; Mrs. C. Cooke, Gowans -
team; Marian Campbell, Vancou-
ver; Jean Campbell, Listowel;
Kenneth M. Campbell, aeaforth;
Helen Campbell, Vancouver; Mrs.
Allen Gibson, Mount Forest; ila
Campbell, Toronto, and William
and Donald Campbell, Listowel.
One sister, Mrs. Joseph Cumming,
of Moleswdrth, also survives, Mrs.
Campbell was a school teacher in
her youth, and in religion was a
Presbyterian. The funeral was
held from the homestead on Thurs-
day with Rev. W. E. Kelly, of Lis-
towel Presbyterian Church officiat-
ing. Interment was in Woodlawn
cemetery, Listowel.

St. Thomas' W. A. Meets. — On
Tuesday at 2.30 p.m., the W.A. of
St. Thomas' Anglican Church held
its meeting in the Parish Hall with
Mrs. T. Dale Jonee acting as presi-
dent in the absence of Miss
Holmes, with a good attendance.
The meeting opened with the mem-
bers • repeating the Lord's Prayer
in unison and the Monthly W. A.
Litany. Mrs. Jones read the Scrip-
ture from the 2nd of Timothy, 4th
chapter, after which a few minutes'
sient prayer were observed for the
late Mrs, W. R. Archibald. All re-
ports were received. The good
wishes were brought to the W. A.
by Mrs. L. G. VanEgmond, one of
the oldest members, now residing
in Stratford. The fall deanery
meeting is to be held in Hensel
on November 2, at 2 p.m. Final
arrangements were made for the
anniversary .tea to be 'held on Nov.
4, The collection was received and
dedicated, and the meeting closed'
with prayer by Mrs. Jones.

Death of Mrs. J. Ewart—Mrs.
Emma Ewart, 74, of 48 Kate St.,
Winnipeg, died Suaday at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. S. F. Marsh,
of Rosser Ave., Selkirk. Mrs. Ew-
art was born in Brussels, Ont. Her
husband, Joseph, died in 1911. Mrs.
Ewart graduated as a nurse from
lYfinneapolie City Hospital in 1897.
Following the Spanish-American
War she was appointed supervisor
in the Minneapolis district military
hospital. She was an active mem-
ber of Grace • United Church in
Winnipeg for many years, until ill-
ness forced her to retire. Funeral
services were held Tuesday at 2
p.m. in Langailla funeral parlor,
Selkirk, with burial in the family
plot in Elmwood. cemetery. Dr.
Gardner Dickey officiated. Sur-
viving are two daughters: Mrs. J.
Marsh Smith, Selkirk, and Mrs. L.
W. Jones, Wienipeg. Two surviv-
ing brothers are Charles Moxley,
Guelph, Ont., and Orlando Moxley,
Dorchester, Ont. One sister, Mrs.
Edwin Hunt, Seaforth, and three
grandchildren are also survivors.

Death of Robert Devereaux.—
One of Seaforth's best known and
'most highly respected citizens
passed away in •London on Satur-
day, Oct. 1, in the person of Robert
Devereaux, in his 87th year. Mr.
Devereaux in his youth was a
blacksmith craftsman in Chicago
and shod horses for the large race
tracks in that city. In 1888 he came
to Seaforth and was in the black-
smithing business here in partner-
ship with his brother, Frank Dev-
ereaux, who passed away in aa23.
The late Mr. Devereaux was born
in Tuckersmith and was married to
IMiss Johanna McGrath, of Win-
throp, in 1900. After his retire-
ment from active duty, Mr. Dev-
eranata was, an ardent bowler. He
was faithful attendant of St.
"Saines' Churoli. In 1941, following
• the death of his wife, he went to` and, Mr. Raymon Mulford were in
