garden when the bride's mother
chose a•fall greens puckered taffeta
dress with burgandy accessories
and a corsage of burgundy gladioli
centred with white rosebuds. The
gr'oom's mother wore delft blue
with black accessories and a cor-
sage to match. There were eighty
guests present. The :toast to the
bride Was given by A. E. Cudmore,
of Kitchener, and was responded
to by the groom; to the brides-
maids by Jack Evans end respond-
ed to by Clare Westeott; to the
bride's mother by Arthur Porter-
field and responded to by Mr.
J. A. Westcott, to the groom's
mother by George Evans and re-
sponded to by Lloyd Evans. Many

To Address Women's Auxiliaries.
—On Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m-,
Miss Lula V. Rouse, of the Over-
seas Missions, will address the.
Evening and the Afternoon Aux-
iliaries of the Woman's Missionary
Society in Northside United Church
at their fall thankoffering meeting.
Miss Rouse is a teacher in' a Vo-
cational School in Junghsien, and
is a very interesting speaker.
Eastern Star Holds Meeting. -
The Order of the Eastern Star held
its regular meeting in their rooms
on Thursday. evening, the occasion
being the official visit of the Grand
Worthy Matron. of Ontario, Flor-
ence M. Andrews, of Toronto. Dur-
ing the business period the Chap-
ter decided to hold a bazaar on
October 15. At the close of the
meeting a penny sale was held.
Guests were present from Exeter.
A delicious lunch was served un-
der the conrenershi•p of Mrs. Frank
Kling and Mrs. D. H. Wilson.

The Late' Robert 4. Ross.—Robert
J. Ross Passed• away' at his resi-
dence on East William, St. on Sat-
urday, Sept, 16, following an ill-
ness of only a week. Mr. Ross was
a former resident -of Whitechurch
and vicinity, where he had been a
miller all his life. He was' born
in Kinloss Township, and was in
his 80th year, In 1914 be was mar-
ried •to Isabella Haigh, -w.ho sur-
vives him, together with one son,
Robert Ross, of London. Mr. and
Mrs. Ross came to Seaforth in June
of this year. In religion he was
a Presbyterian. The funeral was
held from Whitechurch Presbyter-
ian Church on Monday afternoon
with interment in South Kinloss
cemetery.

Gillespie - Thornton,—On Satur-
day, Sept. 17, at three -o'clock, at
St. George's United Church, Tor-
onto, by the Rev. Dr. Williard
Brewing, Margaret Jean, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Stanley
Thornton, was united in marriage
to Gordon Neil Gillespie, son of
Mr. and Mrs. James Gillespie.

MacMillan - McGeoch.—Of local
interest was the marriage of Lil-
lian Jean, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Rae 1VIeGeoch, Halifax, N.S.,
to John Alexander MacMillan, son
of Mrs. MacMillan, of Hamilton;
and the late George R. MacMillan.
The bride's grandfather, Rev. E. J.
McKittrick, Toronto, officiated at
the ceremony in the Church of the
Holy Saviour, Waterloo, assisted
by Rev. F. H. Bishop. The bride,
whose father gave her in marriage,
was gowned in ivory satin,' made
on long lines with train. Her long
veil of Brussels lace had ,been
worn by her mother at her mar-
riage, and she carried an ivory
prayer book, also carried by her
mother at her wedding, with red
and white gardenias, Miss Barbara
McGeoch, sister of the bride, as
matron of honor, Miss Shirley Jew-
itt, as bridesmaid, and Miss Steph-
anie Hobson, flower girl, ohose
green faille. The bridesmaids car-
ried red flowers and the flower
girl, a nosegay. Mr. John E. Rud-
dle was groomsman, and the ush-
ers were Donald G. MacMillan and
S. Marshall. A reception followed
at the home of. the bride's uncle
and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred
Hobson. After a motor trip the
couple will reside in Alberta.

home of his mother, Mrs. Charles
Stewart.
• Miss Barbara Sproat, Strat-
ford, visited Miss Patsy Ann Brug-
ger last week.

eral days in London last week.
Death of John F. Forsyth.—
Death. came with startling sudden-
ness to John Finlayson Forsyth,
well-known former resident of
Tuckersmith, and latterly of De-
troit, on Sunday, Sept. 18, follow-
ing an illness of only 24 hours.
Mr. Forsyth had attended his
daughter's wedding on Friday, al-
though not in perfect health. On
Saturday he was removed to Arts
Centre Medical Hospital, Detroit,
where he passed away on Sunday,
in his 59th year. Born in Tucker -
smith, the only son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Abe Forsyth, he attended
No. 9 School, Seaforth Collegiate
Institute and later Stratford Busi-
ness College. Upon leaving school
he was in the employ of Stewart
Bros., of town, later going to To-
ronto in 1921, and then to 'the J.
L. Hudson Store, Detroit, in 1924,
as a furniture salesman, from
which he retired two, years ago. In
1924 he was married to Audrey
Foster, of Toronto, who ,survives,
together with a daughter (Maxine),
Mrs. John Dinley, Detroit. A sis-
ter, Mrs. G. T. Scott, Detroit, also
survives. Mr. and Mrs. Fora>yth
have made their home in West
Palm Beach, Florida, for the past
two years. The funeral was held
on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the
G. A. Whitney Funeral Chapel, Sea -
forth. with Rev. D. Glenn Campbell
officiating. The pallbearers were
Ross Helwig, Toronto; William
Broomhall, Detroit; A. J. Finlay-
son, Robin McAllister, Russell Con-
sitt and Ivan Forsyth. Interment
was in Maitlandbank cemetery.

Sept. 17, at the beautiful home of
Mr. and Mrs. Vean Hunt, Weston,
a pretty wedding took place at 3
o'clock when Marguerite Rita,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs, 3. Arnold
Westcott, Seaforth, Was united in
marriage to W. Ronald Evans, son
of Mrs. W. Evans, of Toronto, and
the late Mr. Evans, The ceremony
was performed by Rise. Thompson,
of bunting United Church. The
scene of the wedding was the ter-
raced lawn which made a pretty
setting for the occasion. The at-
tractive bride was given in mats
riage by her father, and wore a
blue gray silk Lace dress over pink
taffeta made with fittedbodice, el-
bow-length
lbow-length 'sleeves and was ankle
length. Tier only ornament was
the grodill'.d gift, a keepsake ring
of seven diamonds. Her flowers
were pink roses with Stephanotis.

spending a month with her daugh-

Mr. T. N. Forsyth received word
on Monday of the death of his
nephew, John Forsyth, who passed
away in Detroit on Sunday, Sept.

Faith Lutheran Church, Detroit,
was the scene of a pretty wedding
on Friday evening, Sept. 16, at 7
o'clock, when Maxine Venetta, on-
ly daughter of Mr, and. Mrs, John
F. Forsyth, and John Welles Din -
ley, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.' F. Din -
ley, of Glastonbury Road, Detroit,
were united in marriage by Rev.
Kemp. The church was arranged
for a candlelight service for the
happy event. The bride was given
in marriage by her father and was
pretty in a cbampagn lace ankle -
length gown,., accentuated with
brov*n and accessories to match.
She also wore a veil of nylon and
gloves to match and carried a
white Orchid and a white satin
Prater book. The . bridesmaid was
Miss Marilyn Scott, cousin of the
bride, who wore teall bllle satin,
ankle -length, with black nylon
gloves and accessorriesb, and car-
ried a bouquet Of gardenias, The
groom's gift to the bride was a -
string Of pearls. The wedding din-
ner Was held at eanterbufryy Nouse,.
Detroit, and a reception was held
later at the honie of Mr and nitre,
