TAKE NOTICE THAT BY-LAW NO.
" 503 of 1949, ocf the Town of Seaforth,
copy of which is hereunder written, is a
true copy of a proposed by-law of the
Corporation of the Town of Seaferth,
which was given its first and second read-
ing on the 19th day of July, 1949. The
Munidipal Council has agreed to submit
such proposed by-law to the electors of
the Town of Seaforth to obtain the assent
or the eleobors for the issuing of Forty
Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00) of deben-
tures on the credit of the Corporation for
the purpose of constructing and equipping
a Seaforth and District CommunityMem-
orial Recreation Centre.
If the assent of the electors is obtained
to the By-law the same shall be taken
into consideration by the Council after
the expiration of one month from the date
of the first publication.
This By-law sball be first published on
the 21st day of July, 1949.
The vote for and against tee said By-
law shall be taken on the 15th day of
August, 1949, during the hours :between
10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Daylight Saving Time,
at the following place;
Polling Subdivisions Nos. 1 and 2 at
Tealas Garage.
Polling Subdivisions NOS. 8 and 4, at
Public Library.
Polling Subdivisions Nos. 5 and 6, at
Cardno's Store.
The Mayor. or the manber of the
Council appointed for that purpose by
resolution, shall attend at the Town Hall
on the 12th day of August, 1949, at the
hour of three o'clock in the afternoon, for
the purpose, if requested so to do, of ap-
pointing by writing signed by him, two
persons M attend at the final summing uP
of the votes by the Clerk and one Person
bo attend at each polling place on behalf
of the persons interested in, and desirous
of promoting, the proposed by-law and a
like number on behalf of the persons in-
terested in, and desirous of opposing the
proposed by-law.
Any tenant desiring to vote shall, not
later than the tenth day before the day
appointed for taking the vote, file with
the Clerk a dedlaration as provided by the
Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1937, Chapter 266,
Section 283' (3).
Any Corporation desiring M appoint a
nominee to vote on its behalf shall file
with the Clerk, not latex than the tenth
day before the day appointed for taking
the vote, an appointment in writing of a
person to vote as its nominee and on. its
behalf.

A By-law to authorize the issuing of
debentures for $40,000.00 for the construc-
tion and equipping of a Seaforth and
District Community Memorial Recreation
Centre on the Seaford] Agricultural
Groanada
WHEREAS the Council of the Corpora-
tion of the Town of Seaforth has agreed
40 submit to the electors a By-law propos-
ing the issuing of Forty Thousand Dollars
($40,000.00) of debentures upon the cred-
it of,. the Corporation for the purpose of
constructing and equipping of a Seaforth
and District Community Memorial Recrea-
tion Centre on the Seaforth Agricultural
Grounds.
111e.,1111FORE, the Municipal Council of
the Corporation of the Town of Seaforth
enacts as follows •
(1) Debentures shall be issued to
the amount of Forty Thousand Dollars
($40,000.00) on the credit of the Corpora-
tion for the purpose of constructing/ and
equipping a Seaforth and District Com-
munity Memorial Recreation Centre on
the Agricultural Grounds, partly in the
Town of Seaforth and partly in the Town-
ship of Melaillop; the said debentures
shall bear interest at a rate not exceed-
ing 31,a, per centum per annum and shall
be repayable in twenty equal annual in-
stalments.
(2) The By-law shall be submitted for
the assent of the duly qualified electors
on Monday, the 15th day of August, 1949.
(3) The vote shall be taken at those
places appointed by Byelaw No. 102 of
1949, and the Deputy Returnig Officers,
as appointed by By -lave No. 502 of 1949,
shall preside at the various polling places
and shall take the vote under this By-law.
(4) A copy of this proposed By-law
shall be published once a week for three
successive weeks in The Huron Expositor
and The Seaforth News newsp-apers pub-
lished du the Town of Seaforth, together
with a notice signed by tile Clerk stating
that the copy is a true cora of the pro-
posed By-law.,
(a) The Maim shall also state that,
ascent or the electors is obtained on the
by-law submitted, that it will be taken
into consideration by the Council, after
the expiration of one month from the
date of the first publication.
(b) The notice shall also state the
date of the first pu.blication of the
taw.
c) The notice, shall also state the day
and places appointed for -taking the
votes.
(d) The notice sham also state the
time and place for the appointment of
persons to attendeat the polling place;
end at the final summing of votes by
the Clerk.
(e) The notice shall also state that
any tenant desiring to vote shall, not
later than the tenth day before the day
appointed for taking the vote, file with
the. Clerk a declaration as provided for
by sub -section 3 of section 288 of the
Munieipal Act, 5.5.0. 1937, Chapter 266.
(f) Amy Corporation desiring to ap-
point a nominee to vote on its behalf
shall Ole with the Clerk not later than
the tenth day before the day appointed
for taking the vote, an appointment in
writing of a person 40 vote as its tom-
inee and oh its behalf.
(5) The copy of the Bylaw and the
Clerks Notice, as set forth in the nreced-
ing paragraphs, shall be first published on
Thunsday, the 21st day of July, 1049.

The Cochrane family reunion
was held on Thursday, July 14th,
at Jowett's Grove, Hayfield. Mem-
bers. were present from Centralia,
Seaforth, Hensall and district. Be-
tween forty and fifty sat down to
supper, after which, the sports were
run off as follows: Girls and boys,
2 to 6, Robert Turner, Marjorie
Turner; girls and boys, 6 to 11,
Carol McM.urtrie, James Love;
young girls' race, Jean McAllister,
Edith Love; married ladies, Mrs.
Ralph Turner; married men, Ralph
Turner; balloon race, Marion Tur-
ner, Eileen McLean; ladies kick
the slipper, Mrs. Hugh McMur-

McAllister, Ralph Turner; relay

week that he has passed the teat
as required, by the Apprenticeship
Act of the Province of Ontario,
and has accordingly been granted
a certificate as a Class A Mechan-
ic in, the motor vehicle repair

crowding Carmel Presbyterian
Church for the funeral service,
Henson on Thursday of last week
mourned the loss of one of its
councillors, Melvin Moir, killed, in
an automobile crash near Brant-
ford, Tuesday.
Carmel Church was filled to ov-
erflowing for the service and •hun-
dreds stood outside to wait the
passing of the cortege.
The service was conducted by
Rev. P. A. Ferguson, assisted by
Rev. R. A. Brook. The massed
choirs of Carmel Presbyterian, St.
Paul's Anglican and Hensall Unit-
ed Churches took part in the ser-
vice, with Samuel Rannie as solo-
ist. T. L. Pryde, M.L.A., Exeter,
and A. Y. McLean, M.P., Seaforth,
were among,the mourners.
Pallbearer's were Reeve A. W.
Kerslake, Russell Broderick and E.
Little, Hensall, and L. 'McDonald,
Hilton Laing and H.' Snell, Exeter.
Interment was in Exeter cemetery.
The regular meeting of the vil-
lage council was held Tuesday at
8 p.m. in the council chamber,
those present being Reeve A. W.
Kerslake and Councillors W. Parke
and N. JoneS, J. Tudor still being
confined in hospital at Clinton. F.
