It was one of the best games ;played here this sea- son, before the largest softball crowd of the year. For five frames. it was tight ball, each team scoring one run, Both' O'Shea for Seaforth and Jardine for Wingham held the 'batters to two hits, one of them a home run by Horton of the Bosharts. The first frappe forboth teams was scoreless as the batters went down in order. Wingham scored its first run in the second on a double by Seli and a Seaforth er- ror. Seaforth garnered a run in the fifth, buti W ngham came back in the sixth and took O'Shea for four straight hits, pushing across four runs. Kennedy came in and stop- ped the rally, striking out the next two batters. Kennedy held Wing- -ham off the score sheet from then on. Seaforth scored one in their half of, the' sixth to make the count Wingham- ', Seaforth 2. In the bot- tom half of the eighth the Bosh - arts scored two runs to bring them close. Although they managed to get a man in scoring ,position to tie .the game in the ninth, they were unable to come through . to push 'him across, the mount re- maining 5-4 for the Mercury',. This was the first game Wingham• has taken from 'Seaforth this sea- son, having dropped two ,previous sessions. Batteries — Seaforth: O'Shea, Kennedy, Hubert and Boussey, Wingham: Jardine and Groh. Seaforth '`awns of the W.O.A.A. intermediate girls' softball league Milled another surprise win Mon- day night when .they defeated the powerful Brussels girls, last year's champions, by a 17-14 count. This was Seaforth's second win over Brussels in three games, having lost the first game in Brussels. The Fawns started out with ten runs in the first frame on seven hits, .three walks and three errors. Brussels girls did not score until the third frame when they count- ed two. Seaforth Fawns added one each in the fourth and fifth frames and two in the eighth, while Brussels counted one in the fourth, four in the sixth, five in the eighth, and two in the ninth. It was a good game despite the wet grounds. I. Watson for the Fawns was exceptionally good on second and M. Box, also of the Fawns, pulled off the outstanding l.lsy of the game, snagging S. Cole - mar's line drive at short. For Brussels, J. Stephenson was a star in i.ght field. R 'H E Brussels .. 002 104 042-14 13 6 Seaforth.. 1030 110 020-17 19 7 BRUSSELS—N, Shaw, 2b; D. Willis, p; S.
