Ryan, of Brussels, and Bar- bara Trumbull, of Wingham. Their gifts were cups and saucers. Later Mr. and Mrs. Bennett left on a trip to Northern Ontario and on their return will reside in Walton. Hensall Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.a,L and brethren from Exeter, Zurich and Kippen attended divine „wors'hip in Carmel Presbyterian Church Sunday evening .and were addressed by Rev. P. A. Ferguson, who delivered a very inspiring and timely message, basing his thoughts from Isaiah 66:1: "The Heaven is ray throne, and the earth my footstool, where is the house that ye 'build unto Me." The Male choir, under direction of J. Nicol, organist and choir director, led the service of prise. For their anthem they sang, "Onward, Sol- iiprs of the Cross," soloist being Dave Sangster. A solo, "Lead Us, O Father," was sung by Don Bell. At the conclusion of the service the organist by special request played the Hallelujah chorus. Dr. J. A. McLean, of Hens,all, has received tri appointment ,at the Hospital for Sick Children, Tor- onto, and intends leaving on- the 25th of June and will commence his new duties the lst of July. Dr. Mc Lean and his wife, Dr. Margaret McLean, came to Hensall over two years ago from Toronto. Dr. Mc- Lean served overseas as Captain vt ith the R.C.A.M.C. Following a vacation Dr. Margaret McLean will return to Hensall on the 10th of July and will remain most of the summer. The annual picnic of the Hen- sall United Church choirs, junior and adult, is scheduled to take place at the Lions Park, Seaforth, on ;Wednesday afternoon, July -6. Following a reception held at the groam's sister, the couple" left for a wedding trip, and on their return will reside in London. Announcement Mr. and Mrs. Norman H. Jones, of Hensall, announce the engage- ment of their eldest daughter, Florence Kathleen, to Frederick George Ireland, son of Frederick W. Ireland and the late Mrs. Ire- land of Toronto, the marriage to take place Friday, July 1, 1949, in Toronto. The regular meeting of Hensall Council was held Tuesday in the council chamber with all members being present except Councillor W. Parke, who was ill. Minutes of the.. previous meeting- were read and adopted. Councillor Tudor asked permission for the Legion for the use of the bowling green property and the snow fence for their frolic on July 13. Permission was grant- ed. F. Harburn reported the work to be done on the streets. The clerk read a lengthy report of the fire underwriters regarding fire protection and waterworks. Fire Chief E.
