Eisler - Chessell.—Egmondville
Manse was the scene of a lovely
wedding on Saturday, at 2.30 p.m.,
when Doreen Viola Chessell,
daughter of Mr. and• Mrs. Roy
Chessell, Mitchell, was united in
marriage to Mr. John Nelson Eis-
ler, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Eis-
ler, Egmondville. Rev. A. W. Gard-
iner performed the ceremony. The
bride was pretty in a pale pink
moire street -length frock with grey
accessogkes, and corsage of pink
and •blu rnations. She was at-
tended by Mrs. Kenneth Chessell,
who wore an identical dress in
pale blue moire and wore pink
carnations and sweet peas. The
groom was attended by Kenneth
Chessell. Following the ceremony a
reception was held at the home
of the bride's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Chessell, Mitchell, when the
bride's mother wore •a grey cos-
tume with deep red snapdragons,
while the groom's mother wore
navy and white with pink carna-
tions. Those serving at the recep-
tion were Mrs. Marks, Walton;
Miss Carol O'Donnell, Miss Mar-
garet McKnight and Mrs. W. Mc-
Kenzie, Mitchell. Following a trip
to Niagara Falls, Brantford and
London, Mr. and Mrs. Eisler will
reside in Seaforth.

Union Meeting of Missionary So-
cieties.—A union meeting of the
Wom'en's Missionary Society and
the Barbara Kirkman Auxiliary of
First Presbyterian Church was
held on Tuesday evening. The
meeting was opened by the presi-
dent of the Auxiliary, Mrs. J. T.
Scott, after which the business
part of each society was conduct-
ed by ,the presidents, Mrs. R. Eb-
erhart and Mrs. J. F. Scott. Mrs.
E. Geddes read the Scripture les-
son and Mrs. J. G. Mullen gave the
prayer. Mrs. E. A. McMaster's
solo, accompanied by Mrs. J. A.
Munn, was much enjoyed. Short
and interesting reports of the high-
lights of the recent meeting of the
Hamilton and London Synodical
Society, that was held in Goderich
in May. were given by Mrs. .T. F.
Scott, Miss S. I. McLean and Miss
l3elle Campbell. These dealt par-
ticularly with the addresses of Mrs.
D T. Pitts, a one-time matron of
rhe Cecilia Jeffrey School for In-
dians at Kenora, Miss Felton, who
was a member of the delegation
which visited overseas mission
flelos in .Japan, Formosa, China
and India. and the closing messag-
es rf Mrs. D. J. Lane, of Clinton,
and the president, Mrs. Munroe,
of Hamilton.

Mr. W. J. Dale, the well-known
horseman, has been very success-
ful at the recent spring shows,
which speaks well for his judment
of horses. At Hensall, with his
horse "Scott," he won first, cham-
pion and grand champion. With
the same horse at Clinton, he won
first, champidn and grand cham-
pion, also first. for 'heavy single
hitch, and again at Stratford on
Wednesday, he wore first, sweep-
stakes, grand champion and first
for the $100 stake. He also won
first for four -horse hitch and—sev-
eral other good prizes.
Mr, and Mrs, Ted Holden and
family, of Elimville, and Mrs. Min-
nie Holden, of Nordegg, Alta.,
spent Wednesday with Mrs. Alfred
Buchanan.
Mr. Ellwood Clarke, who under-
went an operation in Victoria Hos-
pital, London, on. Wednesday, will
be able to,return home this week-
end.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Lawson and
Mr. and Mrs. Ephriam Clarke were
in London on Wednesday.
Mr. Joe Riley has been confined
to bed for the past week. We hope
she will soon be able to be out as
usual.

The Young People's Union held
very successful anniversary ser-
vices on Sunday. Mr. E. McLagen
of Mitchell Was the special speak-
er. In the morning he epoke on
the Y.P.U. Purpose and in the eve-
ning his theme was "A More Ex-
cellent Way." There was special
music by a young people's choir,
solo parts being taken in. the an-
thems by Mrs. Phyllis McBride and
Mics Lois Richardson. M+r, and
Mrs. Symons, of Clinton, assisted.
also. In the morning Mr. Symons
sang, "Open the Gates," and in the
evening, "Jesus Lover of My Soul."
Mr. and Mrs. Symons also sang
a duet, "Some Glad Sweet Day."
On Monday evening the Varna -
Goshen Y.P. presented the play,
"Safety First."
Miss Marie Elliott has returned
home from Detroit where she has
been visiting for some time.
Mr. and Mrs. B. Kaiser, of De-
troit, were week -end visitors with
Mrs. H. Zapfe.
