Miss Margaret Dougall was in
Toronto attending the music sec-
tion of the Ontario /Educational
Association as the delegate of the
Supervisors of Music from Huron
County. Miss Dougall participated
in the panel discussions of the
rural problems in the group dis-
cussions, which included the value
of festival work for the children,
andthe division of class work by
the supervisor. The choral clinic
was under direction of Dr, Lara
Hoggard, choral ,assis•tant to the
Fred Waring Glee Club. The finale
was a concert in Massey Hall by a
group of about 450 children from
various schools in the province.
Hensall has installed 12 new
standards for street lighting which
were turned on at 7.30 p.m. Satur-
day for the first time on the main.
section. There are 300 -watt lamps
to each standard, with cables all
laid underground.
A reception for Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Armstrong was held with a
packed hall Friday. Mr. and Mrs.
Armstrong, a recent bridal couple,
were presented with a dinette set,
the honors being done by Ed. Cor-
bett. Murdoch's orchestra furnish-
ed the music for the dance.
Clinton Lodge was host Tuesday
evening to both the D.D.G.M., Earl
Campbell, Hensall, and Brucefield
Lodge. The visitors from Bruce -
field conferred the second degree,
while Clinton Lodge did likewise
with the third degree. D.D.G.M.
Campbell brought a message to the
lodge. Refreshments were served.
Mr. Chas. Farquhar, of Seaforth,
has purchased the residence or Mr.
Wm. Dinnin and gets immediate
possession.
An exhibit of Fine Art will be
held in Hensall Town Hall on Fri-
day evening and Saturday after-
noon of this week. This is a Splen-
did lot of pictures, including some
by well-known Canadian artists,
The I.O.O.F. Hensall Lodge, No.
223, observing their anniversary,
and "Amber" Rebekah Lodge No.
349, attended divine service in the
United Church Sunday evening,
and were addressed by Rev. R. A.
Brook, who delivered a most inspir-
ing message. The choir, under di-
rection of S. Rannie, with Miss
Greta Lammie at the organ con-
sole, rendered as their anthem,
"The Life Everlasting." T. J. Sher-
ritt sang in fine voice, "Bless This
House," Guest lodges were pre-
sent from Brucefield, Exeter and

The Hensall Branch of the Can-
adian Legion met Monday in the
Legion Hall for their May meet-
ing, with President Jack Tudor in
the chair. Discussion eentered
around the formation of a Wo-
men's Auxiliary to be organized
shortly. The Legion Is going to un-
dertake boys' work, which will in-
clude sports and ball teams, lev.
P. A. Ferguson is convener of the
committee, which includes Jack
Tudor, Jim Clark, William Brown,
R. E. Shaddick and Sam ,Rannie.
Plans are underway for a frolic to
be held here June 22, when the
main attraction will be the draw
for a 1949 Dodge DeLuxe Sedan
and 1949 DeLuxe Leonard refrig-
erator. One thousand tickets will
be sold and proceeds will, go to the
Hensall Legion Fund.
.Construction of the fifty houses
at the Cefit•ralia Airport for station
personnel is making rapid head-
way. The foundations and frame-
work are well completed on 45 of
the houses. Fifty men are engag-
ed
ngaged in working there.
Anniversary services will be ob-
served in Carmel Presbyterian
Church Sunday, May 15. Guest
speaker for the day will be Rev.
D. G. Campbell, minister of . First
Presbyterian Church, Seaforth. The
choir will render special music un-
der direction of Mr. C. Nichols,
choir leader and organist,

Eleanor Jean, only daughter of
Mrs. Forster and the late F. B.

Scott Sangster, elder son of Mrs.

Sangster, of Hensall, the wedding
to take place at 2.30, May 14, in
Westminster Hospital Chapel,
Rev. Harold Veals will preach
at Chiselhurst at 9.45 a.m. and.
Hensall at 11 a.m. on Sunday,
May 15.
Mother's Day will be observed
in Chiselhurst and Hensall United
Churches next Sunday morning.
Baptismal service will be con-
ducted at Hensall. The theme of
the Mother's Day service this year
will be "In Every Home — Jesus,
Christ," and the program prepar-
ed by the O.R.E.C. will be used.
The junior choir at Hensall will
sing, and Mrs. Dennison will pre-
sent the story on David Living-
stone.
A bale of good used clothing for
overseas shipment is to be packed
by Hensall W.M.S. early this
month. Parcels may be left at
the Hensall United Church, if op-
en, or may be left at the -Manse
otherwise.
The Kippen Gun Club are -bold-
ing a practise shoot Fridayeevene
ing at 6.30 p.m., to get into good
form for the big shoot to be held
May 24, which is expected to be a
big event. These practises will
continue every Friday night until
the 24th, and anyone interested is
invited.
Mr. Kenneth Passmore, or Hann
Mon, son of Mr. and Mrs. John
Passmore, of Hensall,, recently was
awarded the Distinguished Flying
Cross, accompanied by the follove-
ing citation: "The above men-
tioned officer has completed in
various capacities, numerous oper-
ations .against the enemy in the
course of which he has invariably
displayed the utmost fortitude,
courage and devotion to duty."
Mr. Passmore was. a Flight Lieu-
tenant with 192nd Squadron of the
R.C.A.F.

Mrs. Donald Grassick, well-
known resident, passed •away in
the Ruston Nursing Home in Mit-
chell in her 93rd year. She was the
former ,Eliza Logan and was born
on the Parr Line, near 13ensall,
and came to Hensall 43 years ago
