"The Home and Religion." Miss
E. Rowey took the business and'

a splendid paper on the life of St.

Margaret Bell Walper
The death of Margaret Bell Wal -
per, widow of the late Louis Wal -
per, formerly of Kippen, Ont., oc-
curred in the Royal Columbian
Hospital, New Westminster, B.C.,
Sunday, Jan. 30, in her 81st year.
Margaret Bell, second daughter of
the late Andrew and Mary Bell,
was born on the Bell homestead.
one mile south of Kippen, August
23, 1868, In 1888 she married the
late Louis Waiper, and they went
to North Dakota for four years,
then returned and farmed in Stan-
ley Township.for a few years, then
on the old "Whyte" farm, near
Rodgerville till 1912. That year
they moved to Saskatoon with
their family of two sons and two
daughters. The eldest son, Louis,
died in 1913. Mr. Walper passed
away in 1918. Mrs. Waiper went
to the Coast in 1941, and has been
living with her daughter. She is
survived by two daughters, Mrs.
Mary Baer, of Victoria, and Mrs.
A. M. Brooks, of New Westmin-
ster, and one son, Walter B. Wal -
per, of Port Alberni; five grand -

of the sudden death of his father,
Freeman R. Adair, who died sud-
denly at his home in Lucan, on
Jan. 28.
Mrs. Jack Corbett, Ross and Con-
nie visited the former's sisters,
Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Chapman for
a few days last week.
Mr. T. C. Joynt left on Monday
for Florida, where he will spend
several weeks in the interest of
his health. He travelled by plane.
Mr, Frank Peart received word
last week of the sudden death of
his brother-in-law, Mr. David R.
McKary, who passed away at his
Louie in London on Wednsday, in
his 67th year.

Death of Mrs. G. C. Petty
Mrs, G. C. Petty, one of the
earliest and most highly esteemed•
residents of the village, passed
away on Monday; February 1, at
the Saundercock Nursing Home,
Hensall, where she had been a
patient for the past 18 months.
The former Hannah Dinsdale, she
was in her 94th year and was born.

Honored on Wedding Anniversary
A very enjoyable event was held`
at the home of Mr. and 'Mars. Ben-
son Stoneman on Friday evening,
when the former's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Stoneman, were Surpris-
ed and honored on their 3Oth wed-
ding anniversary. A delicious fowl
dinner was served to twenty-two
guests. The tables were beautifully
arranged with white mums and
pink snapdragons, matching can-
dles in silver tapers and centred
with a threetier wedding cake.

Brook gave a fitting address, after
which Mr. and Mrs. Stoneman were
Presented 'with lovely gifts. A so-
cial time was enjoyed by all.
The euchre and dance . held in
the Town Hall and sponsored by',
the Hensall Women's Institute,'
was a great success despite the in-
clemency of the weather. Thirty-
three tables were in play for the
euchre and the winners were: Lad-
ies, first, Mrs. C. Cook, Hensall;
second, Mrs. Anna C. Walker, Hen-
sall; consolation, Mrs. E. White-
house, Kippen; gents, first, Jack
Norris, Cromarty; second, .Lou
Clark, Jr., Hensall; consolation, J.
McAllister, Hay. Prizes for the
spot dances were won by Jimmy
and Margaret Westlake, `Cromarty.
Fred Walters provided the music
for the dance and the floor man-
ager was Ed. Corbett. The pro-
ceeds from the dance, amounting
to $63, will be donated to the Hen-
sall Community Building Fund.
The Institute will sponsor another
euchre and dance February 18,
when proceeds will again be donat-
ed to the local building fund.
The monthly meeting of the Hen-
sall Institute will be held in the
United Church Sunday School
room on Wednesday night, Feb. 9:
