Mr. Somers was horn in Seaforth about 45 years ago, and moved to Detroit years ago. He had not been in good health for some time. Mr. Somers is survived by his wife and two chidren, and his parents and one sister, Mrs. Armand Chartrand, of Detroit, Interment took place on Wednesday in Detroit. Mrs. Flewitt read the Gospel for Epiphany. The various reports were given and ac- cepted. A letter was received from Cannon Middleton, of Card - stone, Aita., thanking the members for the bale sent and asked that this year's bale be sent. in June. The president asked the members to look forward to the 60th anni- versary of the W.A. in this parish in November. For the winter months the W.A. will meet jointly with the Guild. R. Scott presided over an interesting pro- gram. "Standing At the Portals" was sung, followed with prayer. Mrs. Scott gave a short talk on "New Years" and a poem, "The Village Ladies' Aid." Various re- ports were read and approved. Mrs. J. A. Munn read an article on "Kindness and Unselfishness." Mrs. Wilfred Coleman gave a read- ing on "Neighbors." and Mrs. J. E. Keating played a medley of Car- rie Jacobs -Bond ballads. Hymn 474 was sung and Mrs. Robert Smith closed the meeting with prayer. Bowey Death claimed one of Exeter's best known and highly esteemed resi- dents on Tuesday, Dec. 28, in the person of Catherine Thompson Bowey, beloved wife of James P. Bowey, in her . 65th year. Mrs. Bowey had suffered for_ some years„ but bore it all with Christian forti- tude. She was born in Brucefield, the daughterof the late AIex T. and Sarah Thompson and attend- ed school in Stanley (Township. In 1920 she was married to Mr. Bowey, who survives, together with one sister, Mrs. A. McQueen, of Brucefield. Mr. and Mrs, Bowey conducted a store in Kippen for many years where they made many friends. Later Mr. Bowey went in- to business in Exeter. Mrs. Bowey was a member of the United Church, Exeter. Doig The death occurred at his home in Tuckersmith, on the 6th conces- sion, on Tuesday, of a well known and highly respected citizen in the person of Robert Campbell Doig, in his 83rd year. Mr. Doig had been in failing health for some time and his passing brings wide- spread regret &iil6ng his many frieiid0. He was born in Thorn- hill, Perthshire, Scotland, and came with his parents in 1869 to Tuckersnhith, where he has resid- ed ever si!uce. He engaged in farm- ing and was a successful stock raiser in his day. He was mar- ried in Egmondville to Margaret Laidlaw, of Tuckersmith, who pre- deceased him some years ago, but is survived by three sons, Paul and James, of Tuckersmith, and Rob- ert, of McKillop, and one daugh- ter, Mrs. James Brown, Tucker - smith; also two sisters, Mrs. H. S. Bassett, Toledo, Ohio, and Miss Ellen Doig, of Buffalo, and one brother, James Doig, of Buffalo. Mr. Doig was educated in Egmond- ville school and was a former member of the township council. The funeral will take place on Friday from his late residence at 2 p.m., with Rev. A. W. Gardiner officiating.
