Funeral of Late Ralp E. Cress-
well.—The funeral of the late Ralph
E. Cresswell, who died in Pasadena,
California, on September 22, was
held 'from St. Thomas' Anglican
Church on Wednesday afternoon.
The remains were brought to' Sea -
forth by plane and train, arriving
early Wednesday morning. Follow-
ing a short service, interment took
place in Harpurhey cemetery, the
services at the cemetery being con-
ducted under the auspices of Bri-
tannia Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M.
The pallbearers were J. A. Case,
John Bell, R. G. Parke, Norman
McLean, D. H. Wilson and A. Y.
McLean.

W. I. To Hold Wiener Roast.—
The next meeting of the Seaforth
W.I. will be held on Tuesday eve-
ning, Oct. 5, at 8.30 p.m. It will
take the form of a wiener roast
in the gravel pit on the farm of
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Doig. All that
those attending are required to
bring is some home-made candy, if
possible. The roll call will be an-
swered by."The name of a place I
would like to visit, and why." The
motto is "A spirit of love and
thoughtfulness for others is a
means of our own growth and
character." This is community ac-
tivities and social welfare, in
charge of Miss Thelma Elgie. Dona-
tions of good, clean, used clothing
and shoes may be brought to this
meeting. It is hoped there will be
a good turnout of members, their
families and friends for this social
evening.

Miss Agar was in aqua marine and
carried pink and white roses. Miss
Gooding -.had chosen blush pink
and her flowers were yellow and
white roses. The flower girl, Anita
Dick, New Hamburg, was in an
aquamarine nylon frock made with
frilled yoke and short sleeves and
carried yellow roses. A reception
was held at the Commercial Hotel,
where Mrs. Trapnell received in a
gray dress 'accented with black ac-
cessories, and fearing a pink rose
corsage. Mrs. Dick, mother of the
bridegroom, was dressed in brown
with matching accessories and
corsage of pink roses. On their
return from a trip to Ottawa; Mont-
real and other eastern cities, Mr:
and Mrs. Dick will reside in New
Hamburg. Guests at the wedding
were from New Hamburg, Baden,
Kitchener and Sarnia.
Northside W. M. S. Meets.—The
Northside W.M.S. meeting opened
with prayer by the president, Mrs.
R. Lawson, followed by tb'e first
verse of "Joy To the World." The
minutes of the August meet'ng
were read by the secretary, Mrs.
Porteous, and treasurer's report by
Miss A. Ferguson, followed by roll
call. Readings were given by Mrs.
A. L. Porteous and Mrs. C. C.
Kaine, and a reading from the stu-
dy book. The theme was "The faith
whereby the Church must live."
The worship part of the meeting
was taken by Circle 4 with Mrs. D.
Aikenhead leading and opened with
the Lord's Prayer in unison, and
the remainder of Hymn 55 was
sung. "Fifty Years in China," the
life of Margaret Li, was read by
Miss A. Lawrence, Mrs. Koine,
Mrs. Woods, Mrs. R. Lawson and
l'Irs. D. Aikenhead. The collection
was taken by Mrs. C. Glew, follow-
ed by Hymn 261, a reading in uni-
son and prayer by Miss Lawrence.
Hymn 358 was sung and the meet-
ing closed with two verses. of
Hymn 316 read in unison. Mrs.
Workman was pianist.
Mae Lane Auxiliary Holds Regu-
lar Meeting.—The Mae Lane Auxil-
iary held their September meeting
on Tuesday eyening in the school
room of Northside Church. Mrs. N.
Knight opened the meeting with a
poem entitled, "Don't Let the Song
Go Out of Your Life." The presi-
dent, Miss Vera Mole, was in the
chair. Hymn 181, "Oh Master, Let
Me Walk With Thee," was sung,
after which Miss Laura Mole led
in prayer. Mrs. Helmer Snell and
Mrs. N, Knight were appointed
delegates to the meeting to be held
in Winthrop on Oct. 13. Mrs. J. A.
Stewart and Miss Winnie Savauge
favored with a piano duet. Mrs. H.
Snell, Captain of Circle 1, took
charge and Hymn 4, "Abide With
Me," was sung, after which Mrs.
Lorne Dale led in , prayer. The
topic from the new study book on
China was ably taken by Mrs. Sor-
ren'ti, her assistants being Mrs. J.
Kaiser, Mrs. Schneider and Mrs.
13. F. Christie, which proved most
interesting. Hymn 247, "The Day
Thou' Gayest, Lord, is Ended," was
sung. The meeting closed with the
Mizpah benediction.

Presbyterian W. M, S. Meets.—
The W.M.S. of First Presbyterian
Church met Tuesday afternoon

erhart opened the meeting' with
a hymn, after which the minutes,
treasurer's report and the' Home
Helpers' report were given. An
expression of sympathy was ex-
tended to Mrs. K. M. McLean in
her bereavement by Mrs. R. Eber-
hart. Mrs. Thos. Bickell led in
prayer and Miss Elizabeth Smith
received the collection. Mrs. J. Itt.
Govenlock sang a ,solo, "God, Will
Take Care of You," accompanied
by Mrs. E. Geddes. Mrs. Eberhart
gave the highlights of the rally
held in Exeter. Mrs. C, Aberhart,

Lemon - Jupp.—At 4 o'clock Sun-
day afternoon, marriage vows were
pledged by Dorothea Sarah Jupp
and Mr. Wilfred Kitchener Lemon,
the ceremony taking place at Knox
Presbyterian Church, Woodstock.
Rev. G. L. Douglas officiated. Mr.
Lloyd Collins, of Lakeville, Mich.,
uncle of the bride, sang. The bride
Is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J.
B. Jupp, Woodstoc, the bridegroom
a son of Mr. and Mrs. David Lem-
on of Seaforth. Standards of pink
and white chrysanthemums and
gladioli decorated the church. Giv-

with long sleeves and bertha neck-
line, made with bustle effect and

net was caught to a headdress of
French orange blossoms, and she
carried a cascade bouquet of Bet-
ter Times roses and Pinocchio
pompoms. The bride's attendants
were her two sisters, Mrs.- M. F.
McIntosh and Mrs. L. Tulloch, the
former in apple green transparent
velvet and matching hat, carrying
a bouquet of yellow roses. Mrs.
Tulloch was gowned in American
Beauty velvet with matching 'hat
