F. Gruhn at Port Albert, a former
pastor of Zion Evangelical Church,
at 3 p.m. The bride was attractive
in a burgundy shade with grey
accessories and a corsage of yel-
low roses. Her sister, Mrs. Jas. F.
Harston, as matron of honor, wore
a grey suit with pale blue acces-
sories and a corsage of pink- roses.
.Howard Pommer, brother of the
bride, was best man. Mr. and Mrs.
Powell left on a trip to Northern
Ontario and on their return will
reside in Seaforth.

Tuesday Night Club Holds Bas-
ket Supper.—The Tuesday Night
Club of First Presbyterian Church
met at the Lions Park for a bas-
ket supper. Miss Alice Reid, the
president, presided over the meet-
ing and plans were made for the
fall meetings. A nominating com-
mittee consisting of Miss Alice
Reid, Miss Janet Cleft and Mr. K.
M. Campbell, was appointed. It
was also decided to have a mem-
bership drive tor new members,

The September meeting af. thc, Go-
forth Mission and 'Was held : an -
day afternoon in the Sunday school
room of First Presbyterian Church
with Joan Hunter IA the chair. The
meeting opened by singing one
verse of "Tell Me the Stories of
Jesus," after which the Mission
Rand Pledge was repeated. Daren
Kidd was pianist. Twenty-three
members responded to the roll
call. Hugh Gorwill, Bruce McFad-
den, Carol 'clew and Jean Copland
brought their birthday money. The
Scripture reading was taken by
Sheila McFadden, after which Jetn
Copland gave a prayer., Marilyn
Kling sang a lovely solo apd the
offering was received by Lois
Charters. The story from the
book, "Stories of the Bible," was
given by Mrs. E. A. McMaster. The
meeting closed by singing "Now
the Day is Over"•and repeating the
Lord's Prayer.

in the presence of the immedicte
relatives. The bride was given in
marriage by her father, and look-
ed charming in a blue crepe dress,
and carried red roses. 'They were
attended by Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Wallace, of Egmondville, Mrs, Wal-
lace wearing blue crepe and car-
rying carnations, A reception fol-
lowed at the home of the bride's
parents. Mrs. Dupee received with
her daughter and chose a torquoise
dress, while Mrs. McKellar- chose
grey. Later Mr. and Mrs. McKel-
lar lett on a motor trip to London
and on their return will reside in
Seaforth.

Death of Mrs. John Quigley.—
The
uigley—The death occurred suddenly on
Thursday morning, Sere 16, of
Lucy Agnes Evans, beloved wife of
Mr. John Quigley, in her 76th year.
Mrs. Quigley had been ill only a
short time and her death ! ame as
a shock to her many fricu,is. She
was a daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Evans, and was born in
McKillop. She is survived by her
husband. The funeral v; ill take
place from the W. J. Cleary Fun-
eral Home on Saturday at 9.15 a.m,
to St. James' Church, aryl thence
to St. James' cemetery for inter-
ment.

. Father Dies In Clinton.—George
Van Horne, age 70, died suddenly
at his home in Clinton Tuesday,
after an intermittent illness. Born
near Hensall, son of the late Wm.
Van Horne, he entered the service
of the C.N.R. at an early age and
after spending 16 years at Thorn -
dale, moved to Clinton 25 years, ago
as station agent. His sight failed
15 .years ago forcing him to retire
from his duties with the railroad.
Mr. Van Horne married for the sec-
ond. time in 1944 to Mary Jane
Ryckman. Surviving are his widow,.
two sons, Garnet, London, and Ce-
cil, Seaforth; two daughters, Mrs.
John Nediger and Mrs. Norman
Counter, Clinton; nine grandchil-
dren and a sister, Mrs. J. L. Simp-
son, Huntingdon Park, California,
who was with the family in Clinton
when Mr. Van Horne died. Funeral
services were conducted Thursday
at the Beattie Funeral Home, Clin-
ton, commencing at 2.20 p.m. under
the auspices of Clutton Lodge No,.
84, A F, & A.M. Interment was its
Clinton. cemetery. Rev. Andrew
Lane, Wesley -Willis United Church
pastor, conductetthe services.

Harrison, McKillop, on Saturday,
Sept. 11, at high noon, when their
