Wingham Mercurys took the
Seaforth Bosharts for a big tumble
on Friday •last when they swamped
the. locals 2012 3n the third game
of the semi-finals before about 800
enthusiastic fans.
Both teams started out cautious-
ly, but before the second frame was
over Seaforth was out in front by
three runs. Wingham' came back
in the third to count two more and
added three in the fifth, but the
locals came back in the sixth to
score five markers and put them
well in the lead. Things were ev-

It has been whispered around
town recently that despite the lack
of a golf course here, we still have
some good golfers around the old
town.
During a recent week -end some
of the boys journeyed to Mitchell
and entered a tournament being
held there. The boys teed off in
fine style and when the end came
it was found that the locals won
three of the four prizes.
Farmer" McFaddin took first;
"Jock" McLean, second, and Leo
Cremin was fourth.
McFaddin and McLean paired up
to defeat the best pair from Mit-
chell, McFaddin with two under
par, 3a going out and 39 coming
in, while McLean had 36 and 40.
It was a handicap tournament.
Three-'lr►ther players were entered,
being Gus Boussey, Norm McLean
and John MacKenzie.
Jack 'Fat' Wright was golfing
Saturday and was up to his old
tricks again as he got a hole -in -
one on the wrong green. He teed
off on No. 2 and landed in No. 3
hole, so you could call him the
three "W's" -Wrong Way Wright.
Anyway it is the second time for
him, even though it is said to be
a one -in -a -million shot.

There'll be a benefit hardball
game on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 6.15
p.m., at the Recreation Grounds be-
tween ,Seaforth Red Sox (W.O.B.
A. Juveniles) and Seaforth Old
Stars.
This should prove to be a good
game with lots of fun and action.
Come out and see the Old Stars
make the Juveniles step. Your
town officials are behind this wor-
thy "cause. W. R. (Bert) Shaw,
President of the Lions Club, will
be behind the plate, with Mayor
M. A. Reid, W. J. Duncan, C. A.
Barber and E. Turgeon on the
bases.
In the Legion Juvenile Softball
League, Brucefield, defeated the
Tigers 12-9 to take undisputed pos-
session of second place„ while the
Sally Aims won their game to win
fourth place. The playdowns in-
clude the following teams: Dub-
lin, Brucefield, Wanderers and
Sally Anns, in their respective or-
der.
The first playoff game was, at
Dublin Wednesday evening, be-
tween Dublin and Seaforth Wan-
derers. Both teams played good.
ball and tied 14 -all at the end of
the fifth, game being called be-
cause of darkness.
Sally Anns will play Brucefield
this Thursday night, probably at
Hensall. The Tigers are out for
this year, but in ending a good
summer of sport we feel sure the
boys will want to be back next
year to enjoy a great summer's
game. Better Luck next year, Tig-
ers?
All sport fans are asking the
same $64 question: Can Seaforth
Bosharts take Wingham Mercurys
in the sudden -death game TO-
NIGHT?
According to the season's record
the locals' had: the best of Wing -
ham, but the last few games they
have seen the locals fall apart.
Can they come back? Come out
and support your home town team!
Last year the Winghamites took
the Bosharts for a tumble in the
finals »and we are beginning to
wonder if they are going to re-
peat.
• Tonight's game will decide which
team will enter the finals, and may
the beat team win.
If you try hard enough and play
the gaine square, it matters net so
much who wins the game, as long
as the fact retrains that,
