ther of the bride, and Glenn Smith,

ushers. The wedding music was (play-
ed by Mies Rath Stillwell, and Mrs.
T. Gray, aunt of the ,bridle, was solq-
ist. The wedding reception: for one
hundred guests was held at Kim-
bourne Hall Where the bride's nobler,
gowned In pink crepe with navy ac-
cessories, received. She was assisted
by the groom's mother in lime crepe
with black accessories. The 'bride and
groom left on their wedding trip
through the Georgian Bay and Lake
Huron District, and will reside in
London on their return.
On Wednesday evening last a very
enjoyable musical evening was pres-
ented in the Town Hall for the bene-
fit of Trinity Anglican Church Build-
ing Fund. Rev. Laverne Morgan, Rec-
tor of the Parish, introduced the guest
artists: Mrs. Charles Coates, contral-
to; Charles Coates, tenor, and Miss
Olwyn Coates, pianist, 'Mr. Arthur
Ford, Editor of the London Free
Press, gave a talk on conditions in
the countries of Europe., which, he
visited on his recent trip to the Gen-
eva Conference, also remarking the
hardships endured by the people of
Great Britain. While in Landon he
was the guest at a dinner to meet
Mr. Winston Cllurchill and Mr. Paul
Renaud. At the close of the evening
Mr. Morgan thanked Mr. and Mrs.
Coates. Miss Olwyn Coates and Mr.
Ford for their kindness in giving this
very entertaining program. A silver
collection was taken at the dos;,
from which over forty dollars was
realized.

Archie Hodgert, an " employee of
Canadian Canners, Exeter, met with
an accident when a large kettle con-
taining cans of peas and weighing 800
pounds, fell on, his foot, fracturing two
toes. He was attended by Dr. J. G.
Dunlop. Mr. Hodgert formerly lived
in this district and i"$ well known
here.
The many friends of Mrs. Oliver

Mr. Howard Baker, •of London,,
whose wife and family resided in Hen-
sall, is a patient in Victoria Hospital,
London, 'following an accident when
1300 volts of electricity passed
through his body when his head came
in contact with a live wire while he
was standing on a ladder working in
the shop where he was employe He
was badly burned, and the top o• his
body is encased in a cast, and holes
were burnt in his feet.

Monday lore intended leaving for a silx-
weekis' vacation in .Southampton. Mrs,
Bonthron was preparing breakfast,
and after her husband failed to ap-
pear after repeated calls, ate went to
the :babhroom to investigate. For
many years Mr. Bonthron was in part-
nership with M. 'G, Drysdale, runnings
a hardware aild undertaking 'business.
He was a member of the Masonic Or-
der, the Chamber of Commerce and
Carmel Presbyterian Church, of
which he was an Eld=er and member
of the Board of .Managers. He was
born at Rogersville, one and a half
miles from Hensall, a son of the late
Mr. and Mrs, Robert Bonthron, and
resided here most of his life. Sur-
viving

tha Yungblutt, of Auburn; a daugh-

Hyde will regret to learn of his ser-
ious illness.
The Hensall Public Library will
close Saturday, July 31, for two weeks
and reopen Tuesday, August 17. All

tional picnic of Carmel Presbyterian
Church scheduled to have been held
at Lions Park, Seaforth, Wednesday,
July 28, has been postponed owing to
the death of James W. Bonthron.
Mrs. John Bolton spent last week
the guest of her .sister-in-law, Mrs. E.
Lindenfleld, of Exeter, at their sum-
mer cottage at Grand Bend.
Mrs. Elizabeth Blatchford Hawke,
widow of the late Rev. Chas. Hawke
died Friday, July 23, at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Jinks, with whom
she lived for the past three years,
following a seven weeks' illness, in
her SOth year. Mrs. Hawke contract-
ed pneumonia some ,weeks ago and
despite good care and medical atten-
tion she failed to rally and passed
peacefully away. A native of Etlgr

The Sunday School picnic of Hen-

til Friday, July 30, on account of in-
clement weather. The bus Will meet
at the church at 2.30 p.m. to pick up
the children.
Cook Bros. Milling Co., of Hensall,
have installed' an electrically -control-
led hoist for unloading bulk grain and
beans. also two pits, one for dumping
in grain, and the other for beans.
When the grain is bagged, you simp-
ly dump it in the pits. This elimin-
ates practically all labor necessary
for unloading beans or grain, and will
be much appreciated by the growers.
Mrs. Ed. Barrett, of Yonkers, N.Y.,
has returned home after spending two
weeks with her mother, Mrs. William
