Lillico.— The funeral of the late Alexander C. Lillico was held at his late residence, let 45, con. 2, Tuckersmith, on Fri- day, July 9, at 2 p.m. It was largely attended and there weremany beau- tiful floral tributes. The pallbearers were Messrs, W. J. Fiuuig, , James. Racho, James McIntosh, Roy Mc- Geoch. Saul Whitmore and John. Modeland. Wed., July 21st MART FERNY , �, Westarn Death of Joseph Forrest.—Mr. Jos- eph Forrest„ of the 2nd concession of Tuckersmith, passed away on Tues- day in Scott Memorial Hospital fol- lowing an accident in the hay field on Friday. Mr. Forrest was born in Stanley Township, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Forrest. He at- tended 'public school in Stanley and Seaforth Collegiate Institute, and lat- er taught school in Morris and Al- goma. Moving to Pennsylvania. TJ S.A., he farmed there for ten years returning to Tuckersmith 28 years ago and has .farmed there since. Sur- viving are two sisters, Misses Alberta and Margaret Forrest, with whom he lived, and a brother, W. L. Forrest, of Stanley Township, formerly of Goderich. A private funeral was held Thursday afternoon from his late resi- dence, with interment in Baird's ceme- tery. Chutthe.s Northside United Church.—Rev, H. V. Mrs, Southgate was gowned In powder blue with 'navy accessories and corsage of roses. The bride and groom left for a trip by' motor to Mus- koka and other northern points, the bride wearing a two-piece suit of egg- shell blue silk with a dusty rose hat and navy accessories. Her corsage Dies in Bay City.—Alexander Kidd, 88 -year-old retired contractor and mover, died at 6.30 o'clock Sunday morning, July 4, at Mercy Hospital, Bay City, Mich. The late Mr. Kidd was the son of the late 11,Ir. an,.: Mrs" John Kidd. His father was one of the pioneer businessmen- of Seaforth, carrying on a hardware store in what is now the Daly Motors budding on Main Street. Born July 14, 13'59, in Seaforth, the late Mr. Kidd had lived in Bay City most of his life" Surviv- ors are his widow', Rose; three sons, Earl. of Chicago; George, of Bay City. and John, of Port Huron; a brother. George, of Vancouver. B.0 10 grand- children and three great-grandchil- dren. rewgrandchil- dren. Funeral services -acre held July 6 and burial was in Oa% Ridge cemetery. Former Resident Dies in Wood- stock.—Prominent Woodstock basi- ness man and former well known hockey player, G. Ernest [Ernie) Parkes. 53. -cried early Friday at h•is home in Woodstock, following an ill- ness of one month. The ':rte Mr. Parkes was the son or Mr, G. E. Parkes, for a number of years Man- ager of the Canadian Bank of Com- merce here. He was well known as an athlete, having been identified with ,a number of championship teams. At the time of his death he was engaged in the wholesale tobac- co business in Woodstock. Surviv- ing are his widow, two son>, George and William, and one daughter, Pa- tricia, all of Woodstock; also one brother, Robert Parker: Dunnville. and one sister, Mrs. Violet Holds- worth, Hamilton. Southgate - Armstriong--Brampton Presbyterian Church, beautifully dec- orated with palms, tall standards of white gladioli and delphinium and baskets of red roses. was the setting on Saturday afternoon, at 3 o'clock. when Helen Clara ,Jane, eldest daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Armstrong, Brampton, became the bride of Reg- inald McLeod Southgate, 'Coront°, son of Mrs. W. E. Southgate and the late Mr. Southgate of Seaforth. Rev, R. H. N. Davidson officiated, Miss Mavis Russell. Toronto, was organist, and Miss Mary Cheyne, cousin of the bride, sang "0 Gentle Presence" prior to the service, and "With This Ring I Thee Wed" during the signing of the register. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a portrait gown of heavy white satin with fitted bodice and a full skirt with a cascade bustle falling into a long train. A matching halo held her full length veil of tulle illusion. She carried a bouquet of red roses and stephanotis. The pride's three sisters Were her attendants. Miss Ruth Armstrong, as maid of honor, was in periwinkle blue faille with rounded neckline, tight bodice and hooped skirt. She carried a cas- cade bouquet of Talisman roses. Miss Isobel Armstrong and Mrs. G. T. Hol- ley, as bridesmaids, were gowned alike in periwinkle bine faille, with square 'necklines, tight bodices and hooped skirts. They carried el.seade, bouquets of yellow roses Al'G wore large picture hats and mittens to thatch their gowns. Mr. Lowery was born in Seaforth March 21, 1884, and spent his life iu and around Seaforth and dis- trict, He was married to Bertha Fraisti'I', who survives him, together with one son, Clifford Lowery, of Goderich, and one daughter, Miss Isabel Lowery, of Brussels. He is al- so survived by one brother, Mr. Alex Lowery, of The Huron Expositor staff, and one grandchild, Paul Ann Lowery. The late Mr. Lor4ery was widely known and respected throughout the district. For more than twenty years he had operated his farm on No. 8 Highway, east of the town limits, but two years ago sold the property to Mr, A. T. Milton; Montreal. He con- tinued to reside in the residence and to assist Mr. Milton in the operation of the farm. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place on Tues- day at 2 p.m., with Rev. G. A. Milne, of Brussels, officiating. Interment was in Maitlandbank cemetery. The pall- bearers were Robert Smith, E. B. j'aoudie, Dale Nixon, A. Copland, John Powell. and J. A. Case.
