Women's Institute Plans Picnic.—
The Seaforth Women's Institute will
hold their annual picnic on Tuesday
evening, Jule, 6, at Lions Park. 'Phe
picnic will start with supper at 7 p.m.
Ml those attending will please bring
a plate, dessert dish, knife, fork and
spoon; also bring enough sweetened
strawberriessfor each member of your
party, if berries are available. Ice
cream will be provided. Chocolate
milk will be provided for the children
and tea for adults. Lunch brought
may be sandwiches, potato or vege-
table salad, cold meat, pickles, cake
or tarts. Everyone interested. in hav-
ing au evening of fun is' cordially in-

ily prayer. His Excellency the Most
Rev. John T. Kidd, Bisha of Lon-
don,

so said that ''Communism is hatred of
God" which included hatred of God's
creatures. Rev. Col. T. J. McCarthy,
of St. Joseph's Church, Sarnia,. im-
pressed upon the delegates the urg-
ency
rgency of uuited ,Catholic action to over-
come the `isms' which threaten the
world today. During the year the
diocesan membership; increased more
than five hundred. A vote of thanks
was extended to Mrs. Sills and Miss
Daly for their splendid report. 'Miss
Alice Daly was, elected to the office
of first vi'he-president of the Diocesan
Council. The meeting closed with
prayer.
Melady - Eckert.—St. James' Church,
Seaforth, was the scene of a very
pretty .wedding on Saturdap morning
at 9.30, when Mary Frances Teresa,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs, J. M. Eck-
ert, became the bride of Mr. Thomas
Melady, son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Melady, of St. Colu•mban. Rev.
T. P. Hussey- performed the ceremony.
The bride, who was given in marriage
by her father, was very charming in
a floor -length white satin gown with
long sleeves and bustle back, heart -
shaped headdress and carrying red
and white roses. Ste was attended' by
her sister, Mrs. W. H. Ennett, of
Sarnia, who chose a pink floor -length
gown with bustle back and carried
blue and white carnations. The pretty
flower girl was Marie Rowland, of
Seaforth, who was gowned in white
organdy' with gold slip and wore a
wreath of daisies in her hair. Mr. Ted
Melady was his brother's groomsman,
and the us.hers were Messrs. A]die
Eckert and Fergus Melady. Mrs. F.
Devereaux played the wedding music
and Mr. Frank Sild.s sang "Ave Marie"
and 4'0h Sacred Heart, Oh Love Div-
ine." A reception for forty guests,
v: as held at the Commercial Hotel,
guests being present from St. Colum-
ba.n, Kitchener, London and Ridge -
town. Mr. anti Mrs. Melady left later
en a motor trig and on their return
will reside in London.
Death of Mrs. David Davidson.—
Mrs. .David' Davidson, the former
Mary MacDonald, of the seventh line,
Mornington Township. died at Vic-
toria Hospital, London, early Thurs-
day last. She had been in the hos-
pital since last Friday but had been
in failing health since January and
went to London to reside with her
daughter, Mrs. Archie MacTavisb, She
was born the daughter of the late
Hugh MacDonald and Jean Reid Mac-
Donald, In December, 1835, she mar-
ried David Davidson who died several
years ago. She was a member o•f
Knox Presbyterian Church, Millbank,
and later of Burns' Presbyterian
Church in Milverton, and was a mem-
ber of the W.M.S. of the Presbyterian
Church. She leaves three sons and
two daughters: Alex and Ross, of
near Newton; Rev. D. D. Davidson,
of Mitchell; Mrs. Archie MacTavish
(Mary Ellen), London, and Elspeth, a
missionary for the Presbyterian
Church in New Amsterdam, British
Guiana. A daughter, the late Mrs. M.
A. Reid, Seaforth, predeceased her. A
public service was held at her home
near Newton on Saturday afternoon.

Knox United cemetery, Millbank,
Scarrow - Agar,—In a pretty setting
of pink and white peonies in Canon
Davis Memorial Church, Sarnia, on
Saturday, June 26, at 12.30 p.m., Rev.
F. G. Hardy united in marriage Doro-
thy Ann Agar, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Wesley Agar, Sarnia, and recent-
ly of Seaforth, to Carmon F. Scar -
row, sot. of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Scar -
row, Sarnia. Mrs. Payne presided, at
the organ and accompanied Miss Don-
na Agar, sister of the bride, when
she sang "0 Perfect Love" and "Be-
cause." Given in marriage by her

father, the lovely bride wote a Rotate
leu, tb White,satin sown with net 'yolk
and net, titeerte in the £ull Skirt. Her
Aver -tip veil -was held by a head-
dress 4f seed peania, and she carried

Miss Jean Agar,, Seaforth, sister of
the /bride, ns 'brides/paid, chose a
turquoise 'satin gown styled similar
to that of the bride. Her matching
shoulder -length veil was held in place
by flowers, and she carried, white ros-
es. Donald Keyes, Varna, was best
man, and ushers were Jack Agar and
Wesley Scarrow. Followting the cere-
mony a reception . was herd at the
home of . the bride's parents, the
bridle's mother receiving in ,blue and
white silk jersey, • navy accessories
and corsage of pink roses. She was,
assisted by the groom's 'mother, who
wore gray gabardine, black aecessor-
les and' a corsage of red roses. Mdse
Peggy Trapnell, Seaforth, and Miss
Evelyn iHemstead, Strathroy, assist-
ed. For travelling the bride donned
a two-piece navy dress trimmed with
white .eyelet, navy accessories •and,
light blue shortie coat and a corsage
of pink roses. On their return they
will .reside in Sarnia. Guests were
present from Seaforth, Toronto,
Strathroy, Elmira and Kitchener.
'Hold Trousseau Tea.—Mrs. E. O.
Hall, 265 Regent St., London, was
hostess at a nicely arranged trous-
seau tea in honor of her daughter,
Miss Audrey Hall, on the staff of Sea -
forth High School, whose marriage to
Mr.' John Stevens, Seaforth, takes
places on Saturday. Mrs. Hall and
Mrs. W. H. Stevens received the
guests and those pouring tea in the
afternoon were Mrs. S. T. Barlett, of
Toronto; Mrs. H. V. Workman, Mrs.
P. B. Moffat and Miss Rena Fennell,
of Seaforth, and Mrs. J. N. McLennan,
London. Miss Hall has also been
honored at a number of pre -nuptial
showers.

Dies in Saskatchewan.—The death
occurred in Cupar, Sask., on May 29.
of George Hail, in his 91st year. One
of the pioneers of that district, the
late Mr. Hall was ah uncle of Mrs.
R. F. ,Mc'Kercher, McKillop, and prior
to going West in 1910, he resided for
a number of years on the 10th con-
cession of McKillop, and also at Kin -
burn on the farm now owned by How-
ard Armstrong. The Cupar (Sask.)
Herald says: "He had enjoyed fair-
ly good health during the past few
years considering his advanced age.
The funeral service was held on MaY
31, with Rev. Cyril E. Martin of the
•Cupar United Church officiating. In-
terment was in the Cupar cemetery,
Mr. Hall was born in Cambridgeshire,
England, and came to Ontario with
his parents at the age of four years,
where he resided until 1910, when he
followed the trend of many other
Eastern families and came West to
Saskatchewan. Predeceased by his
wife, Sarah, December 13, 1942, he is
survived by twa sons, David and Ad-
rian, both of Cupar, and two daugh-
ters, 'Mrs. Ernest Laremore, of Ta-
coma, Wash., and Mrs. Elmo Scott, of
Cupar, Sask. His gentleness and
frankness won for him the respect
and affection of all who knew him.
He will long be remembered as a
good friend and kind neighbor by the
early settlers of this. district."
