of his sister and brother-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Harold McDonald' Exeter,
who died in St. Joseph�e Hospital,
London, from severe injuries renew
ed in a car accident Saturday night
at Mooresville, three miles south of
Centralia, while they were returning
from London. Mrs, McDonald. is the
former Jean Baynham, and was floor
lady at Canadian Canners, Exeter.
Mr. McDonald was also employed
there. They leave a little daughter of
seven.
An unusual stalk of wheat, consist-
ing of 41 separate shoots from one
seed, was grown by Mr. John Elder in
his garden.
Hensall Defeats Dashwood
A large crowd of interested fans
witnessed the Huron -Perth League
O.B.A. intermediate baseball game be-
tween Dashwood and Hensall in the
Community Park Friday eveni , with
Hensall the winners, with a ore of
14-1. Hensall: 14 runs, 9 h" , 2 er-
rors; Dashwood: 1 run, 6 hits, 2 er-
rors. Batteries for Hensall, Sadler,
Houghton and Horton; Dashwood,
Wein, Weiburn and Maier. Sangster
and Mickle hit doubles for Hensall.
Dedication services were held in
the United Church Sunday with large
congregations present for both edeits
of worship. The' church was , lovely
with summer blossoms and a bouquet
of carnations in memory of the late
Mrs. A. Spencer, placed by the fam-
ily, centred the 'Communion table.
At the morning service the organ
was dedicated for worship, the min-
ister, Rev. R. A. Brook, officiating.
The introductory statement was made
by M. G. Drysdale, clerk of the of-
ficial board. James Smillie, clerk of
the session, presented the key of the
organ to the organist, Miss Greta,
Laramie. The organ was. originally a
Warren organ, but has been rebuilt
by the Keates Organ• Company, of
London. It is a two -manual instru-
ment with electro pneumatic action.
The choir, under direction of S. G.
Rennie, rendered two afithems with
solos and quartette specials in the
anthem taken by Mr. Ronnie, T. J.
Sherritt, Wm. Mickle, ✓Mrs. H. Mc -
Ewan, Mr. and Mrs. H. Pfile and J.
Horton. A solo was rendered by Mrs.
Maude Hedden.
At the evening service the organ
chimes were dedicated. A gift from
the Passmore family, they commem-
orate their Sols, F/O. Gerald t Leroy
Passmore, who gave ,bis life in Febru-
ary, 1945, during flying • operations
over Germany. The unveiling of the
plaque was by Call Passmore, a. bro-
ther. Rev. W. E. MacNiven, B.A.,
D.D., of Metropolitan Church. Lon-
don, was guest speaker. Mr. Rannie
contributed a solo, and a male quart-
ette, composed of T. J. Sherritt, H.
Pfile, S. Ronnie and Bill Mickle, sang.
The choir favored with an anthem.
The. offering for the day, which will
be used for the organ fund, was very
satisfactory. The chimes consist of
amounted'to $80 and F. Harburn stat
ed there were three more to receive,
whicb would ,be looked after at Once.
Other business included: Brown
and Jones; That we bill the School
Board $20, Hydro Commission $20,
and the Library $5 as being their
share of the auditing expenses. Car-
ried.
P, L. McNaughton, assessor, ap-
peared and stated that he would be
compelled to resign as assessor for
the village and, stated that he was
very sorry, but would give the new
assessor all the help he could, free of
any charge, and asked for a letter
advising the insurance company of
same. Middleton and Brown: That
we, the council, regret very much the
resignation of our assessgr, P. L. Mc-
Naughton. Carried.
Miss C. Mitchell appeared, re the
dram in front of her property. No
action. Mr. C. P. Deitrich, contractor,
appeared re the drain recently com-
pleted and presented his account in
full. Brown_ and Jones: That the
treasurer be instructed to return the
marked cheque for $450 to C. P.' Deit-
rich. Carried.

Tuesday night. The game was an,
abbreviated .one, being called after
five innings of play because of late-
ness in starting. Faulkner pitched
nine hit balls for the winners, fan-
ning nine Hensall batters, Mickle and
Joynt shared the Hensall pitching.
Miss C. P. Rankin, of Mt. Pleasant,
Mich., came on Friday to spend the
season at her cottage here.
Mr. Chris. Parker, who has spent
the past few weeks in Naicam. Sask.,
returned home last week.

that was the end of "Timmy Skunk."
