to J. BELL, Seaforth. • 4190-tf I make the grade. Keep up the inter-
est already shown . . , you'll have
lots of fun. It is hoped the team will
get uniforms well in advance of the
schedule. which will start around the
end of June.
We understand the infield has al-
ready been graded, and about all that
is needed .now is a good"backstop to
complete the playing field.
Apparently the Legion Softball
League is away to a good start with
six entries. It should be a well-bal-
anced league for a six -team schedule
and the opening game will likely be
shortly after May. 15.
The "Tigers," managed by Angus
McLean, coached 'by Bill O'Shea,
claim Ron Muir as the outstanding
short-stop. The battery of Gib. Hub-
ert and Jack Muir promise to be in
there, while Muir and Dale appear to.
be consistent hitters. The balance of.
the team is rounding out'- nicely.
• Although Jim Southgate and Frank
Lee have not tagged a name on., their
entry, they claim they have a good
pitching staff in Ferg. Rowland, boug.
Stewart as right-handers, and Ron
Dale and Ken- Willis the, southpaws.
Jim Flannigan -is th;' deceiver: Goo-
die, Flannery and "v ,d" Sutherland
are other promysin: •vers, and it is
thought this team will be real league
contenders.
Bill Smith has yet to tag Ms •; i>ltry,
but the boys have been working•' ard:
Bill has some heavy hitters in • Ren-
nie, rale, Nixon,and. McMillan. Hab-
kirk looks as though be will cinch the
catchers job. -
Congratulations. go to -Lieut. Ittany's
Salvation Army team and Dublin as
new entries in the league. The for-
mer's team is really not known, but
will be scouted before, long. Manager
Jim Curtin is not divulging any in-
formation as yet, but no doubt will
have' a strong entry. It is hoped to
,have more to report next week on
this "dark horse."
Manager "Buzz" Finnigan 'an d
-Coach "Miller" Kruse have not, as
yet, decided on a name for their Eg-
mondville entry, but stiff practices
have been going on at the school
grounds where "Trottie" holds away.
Schoolmaster Trott must have his
hands full with this "dead end ,kids"
material after looking over the list
of players. There are such names as
"Super" Cooper, "Short -Stop" Me -
Nairn, "Gremlin" Vincent, "Windy"
Eisler, "The Don" Powell, "Poop"
Doig, 'Don" King„ "Chicken" Moore,
and others. So look 'out for -.'The
Buzz" and "The Miller." Their team
will be hard to beat.
To date there has been no trading
,,of players, but negotiations may be
in Whisperings when Managers hope
to strengthen teams before opening
ga me.
Permt.Qion has been obtained from
the P•k Board to have a practice
diamond, in addition to the regular
one, and will give furtheao opportunity
to train teams.
