Death
Death of Clarence Sparling.—Clar-
ence Sperling, only son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Chris. Sparling, of ,Seaforth,
died in his sleep at his home iu To-
ronto. He was 55 years of age, and
grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Ed., Latimer of Seaforth. Surviving
are two sisters, Mrs. Fred Smith
(May), of Toronto, and Mrs. Russell
Hammond (Queenie).

Alert Mission Band Meets. — The
Alert Mission Baud opened its April
meeting by singing a 'hymn and' Mrs.
Barber gave a prayer, which was fol-
lowed by the Lord's Prayer in uni-
son. Neil Broadfoot read the Scrip-
ture. Teddy Savauge took up the col-
lecticn, and "Jesus Loves the Little
Children" was sung. A story by Mrs.
Bradshaw was followed by singing
"God Sees the Little Sparrows Fall."
Goforth Misa len Band Me ti, --The,
Worth. Mission Band held its meet
lug Tuesday which opened by singing
Itynan 745, followed by prayer by
'Karen Kidd. The minutes were read
and approved. Answering roll call
were fourteen members on Marilya
King's side, and fourteen on. Haugh
Gorwill's side. The Scripture reading
was taken by .Marilyn Kling. Sheila
McFadden sang a solo and the offer-
ing was received, by Jean Nixon and
Betty Jean Andrews and amounted to
$1.01. The offering hymn followed.
An interesting story was told by the
leader. Mrs. E. A. McMaster. "Now
•the Day is Over" was sung and the
meeting closed with a prayer by Mrs.
McFadden.

United Church, Ottawa,- Saturday eve-
ning the marriage was solemnized of
Margaret Elizabeth, only daughter of
J. S. Hutchinson and the late Mrs.
Hutchinson, and William James Ches-
ney, youngest son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. P. M. Chesney, of Seaforth, Ont.
Rev. Samuel MacLean officiated. Giv-
en in marriage by A. S. Whiteacre,
the bride was attended by Miss Doro-
thy Brown. James Hutton was best
man. For her wedding the bride wore
a heaven blue crepe afternoon dress,
petal pink accessories and corsage
buquet orchids. Following the cere-
mony a reception was held at the
Chateau Laurier. Later, the couple
left on their wedding trip, the bride
wearing a green gabardine suit, black
accessories and orchid corsage bou-
quet. Mr. and Mrs. Chesney will live
in Ottawa, where he is employed by
the H.E.P.C. Mr. MacLean, who per-
formed, the ceremony, is a former
minister of Egmondville, is retired,
and although in his eightieth year en-
joys excellent health. He and Mrs.
MacLean reside in Ottawa not far
from their daughter, Mrs. R. S. Whit-
tle.

trout. The bride was given in Mar-
riage by her uncle, Mr, 'Gordon Hays,
of Detroit. She wore a gownof tra-
ditional satin with lace 'yoke triniztl.ed
in seed' pearls and silver bn'gle beads,
a Dutch cap in same trimmin'g held
finger-tip veil in place. 'She carried
a prayer book with a white orchid,

style with an illusion neckline of Nile
green taffeta with matching head-
piece and carried an old-fashioned.

bridesmaids, Mr's. James Reeves, in
matching gown of blue, carried a pink
rose bouquet with white hyacinths,
and Miss Patricia Hays, in matching
gown of pink, carried a white rose
bouquet with blue hyacinths. For her
daughter's wedding, Mrs. Klinkhamer
wore a gown of aqua crepe with
brown accessories and a corsage of
yellow tea roses. The groom's mother,
Mrs. Bowness, wore a gown of grey
crepe with pink accessories and cor-
sage of pink carnations. Assisting the.
groom was William Reeves, of De-
troit. Ushers were James Reeves, of
Detroit, and Richard Tate, Jr., of
Dearborn, Mich. Wedding breakfast
was served to thirty-two guests at the
home of the bride and a reception
followed in the evening. After a
short honeymoon the couple will re-
side at 10030 Robson Ave.,' Detroit.
For going away the bride wore a blue
grey sharkskin suit with matching ac-
cessories. Out-of-town guests were
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Eckert, Mr. and
Mrs. C. P. Sills and Mr. Geo. Hays, of
Seaforth, Ont.; Mr. and Mrs. James
Eckert, Ridgetown, Ont.; Miss Ther-

The bride, who was given in marriage
by her father, wore a street -length
dress of white gabardine with gold -
studded bodice, topped with a navy
gabardine shortie coat, and matching
straw hat and accessories. Her cor-
sage was of red Talisman roses. Miss
Margaret Mazmanian, of Galt, attend-
ed the bride, wearing rose linen with
white accessories and cascade of
cream tea roses. Miss Mavis Dunlop,
sister of -the bride, was flower girl,
and wore a dress of green taffeta with
a junior cascade of pink rose buds.
Roy Gaedt, of Pontiac, Mich.. perform-
ed the duties of best man. Gift of the
bridegroom to the bride was a chest
of sterling silver, to the bridesmaid,
a silver cream and sugar on matching
tray. and to the flower girl and best
man, suitable gifts. A reception for
35 guests was held later at the home
of the bride's parents. Mrs. Dunlop
received, wearing maize silk jersey
with black accessories and corsage of
pink roses. The house was decorated
for the occasion with daffodils, tulips
and ferns, and the bride's table was

Egmondville.
