Mr. Green was born in England and went to London in 1917 where he worked as a painter and decorator. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a past master of Nilestown Masonic Lodge No. 345 and past principal of Nilestown Chap- ter No. 347. He is survived by his wife, the former Della Thompson, daughter of the late J. B. Thompson of Seaforth: one son, John, of Lon- don; two brothers. Ernie, of London, and George, in England; and two sisters, Mrs. A. G. Murray and Mrs. F. Smith, both of England. Funeral service was held under the auspices of Nilestown Lodge No. 345 on Wed- nesday. Rev. G. C. Fenning, of St. David's Anglican Church officiated and burial was in Woodland Ceme- sery, London. beath of Miss Jane Reid.—Miss Jane Reid, sister of the late John H. Reid, who until his death six years ago, was for over half a century an out- standing Seaforth citizen, died in Scott Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, March 23, after several months of failing health. Funeral services were held at Whitney's Funeral Chapel on -Thursday afternoon, with interment in Maitlandbank Cemetery. Miss Reid was born in Listowel, Ont., on Sept. 30, 1870, and lived there and in Guelph until 1905 at which time she and. her sister, Margaret, moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta, where they were engaged in business for many years. In 1942 Miss Reid resumed residence in Ontario at the Seaforth home of her late brother. John, who predeceased her in July, 1941. Miss Reid was an active member of long standing of Wildey Rebekah Lodge, Medicine Hat, and a zealous worker in Westminster United Church of that city. Since coming to Seaforth she made many friends in fraternal and church circles. The services were conducted by Rev. H. V. Workman. Pallbearers were D. L. Reid, Robert Scarlett, Dr. F. J. Burrows, M. Mc- Kellar, Wm. Stevens and W. A. Ross. Eberhart presided at the Easter thankoffering of the W.M.S. of First Presbyterian Church and opened the meeting by a short selection on "Our Duty." After singing Hymn 192, Mrs. W. J. Thompson led in prayer. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved and the treasurer gave her report. A, pleasing feature of the meeting was a presentation of an honorary life membership eertiffeate to Mrs. R. Eberhart. Hymn 734 was followed by prayer by Mrs. J. Kerr. Mrs. Parkins tread the Scripture les- son from Mark 16:39 and 16:1-10. This was followed by, Mrs, liltchie's address on "People Beneath the Cross of Jesus," and who told of the differ- ent people who were near the Cross on the day Christ was crucified and Showed how they represented the peo- ple of today. Dodds Thomas Armstrong Dodds was bur- ied in Clinton cemetery on Monday, March 16, '1948. He passed away Fri- day evening, March 12, in the West Suburban Hospital, Oak Park, I11., after a two-year illness, although he had enjoyed reasonably good health until he entered the hospital Six weeks. before his death. Deceased was born near Winthrop, Huron Coun- ty, in 1877, married Susan Bromley, Londesboro, Huron County, in 1903, and their first son was born in De- cember, 1904. A second son died in Infancy a few years after. Mr. Dodds was the son of Ellen (Dorrance) and Peter Dodds and brother of Mary, Nancy, Helen and Clarissa. In 1909 he moved to Chicago and was em- ployed by the Chicago Belting Co, for 39 years. For the last 20 years he was plant superintendent, direct assistant to the president, andhis reputation and knowledge of leather was respected throughout the entire industry. According to the company's president, his passing will be keenly felt, as he was an acknowledged ex- pert and craftsman of the old school. He purchased their leathers and was responsible for standards and manu- facturing methods. The late Mr. Dodds leaves a multitude of relative and friends throughout Canada and the United States. The possessor of a frank, friendly rid generous nature and a life-long habit of saying noth- Ing unless it was good, had .endeared' Ilim to everyone. Ile never lost his 'ability to know and understand tih6. younger generation—a quality that kept him younger than his 71 years. His family connections are wide- spread in this community. Ile is sur- vived by his wife, 'Steaan;• his son, Albert C.; his sister, CIariasa, and daughter -In-law, Virginia.
