end in Toronto with her brother, Mr.
Glen Love, and attended a banquet
at which Barbara Ann Scott attend-

Mr. R. Y. MacLaren has sold his
farm on the London Road to Mr. El-

A minstrel and variety concert is
to be held in Carmel. Presbyterian
Church Friday, April 2, presentedby
the young people of Caven Presbyter-
ian Church, and sponsored by the
Ladies' Aid.
Funeral services for the late Chas.
Moore were held in the United Church
Thursday, March 11, at 2 p.m. Rev.
R. A. Brook conducted the service
and paid fitting tribute to the life of
the deceased. During the service Mr.
T. J. Sherritt rendered a very appro-
priate solo, "Good Night and Good
Morning." Burial was in Clinton
cemetery. Bearers. were F. W. 'Srnalla-
combe, G. Follick, O. Twitchell, T.
Welsh, G. Hess and G. Thompson.

diers," an all -ladies' minstrel, of Wes -
ley -Willie. United Ohurch, Clinton,

Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Dorton and
Mrs. Alex Mousseau left Monday for
Hamilton. From there they will leave
for New York and expect to leave
Saturday on the Queen Elizabeth for
a two months' visit abroad.
Miss Qladys Luker is assisting Mr.
W. O. Goodwin during the absence of
Mrs. Horton, who is away on a• two
months' trip abroad.
The last bingo and dance of the
season will be held in the Town Hall,
Hensall, Wednesday, sponsored by
the Hensall branch of the Canadian
Legion.
Mr. and Mrs. James. Wright, of
Kippen, returned home last week af-
ter spending two weeks visiting their
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs,
Gordon Wright, of Lorne Park.
An interesting event of the year
will, take place in Hensel] Town Hall
early in April when "Stage and Radio
CFPL Goes 'Calling," will be present-
ed under the auspices of St. Paul's
Anglican Church, Hensall.
St. Paul's Club, of St. Paul's Angli-
can Church, mat in the basement of
the church Monday evening and had
as their guest speaker, 'Mr. H. Taylor
of Dashwood. Mr. Taylor, who, for a
number of 'years was a missionary at
the Anglican Church at Aklavich,
spoke for some time on his trip from
Southern Ontario to Aklavich, and
also of his work amongst the Eskimos
while stationed there. His address
was much enjoyed by a large and ap-
preciative audience. At the conclu-
sion of his address Mrs. R. H. Mid-
dleton moved a vote of thanks which
was seconded by Harry Lawrence. A
eocial 'hour was spent and lunch serv-
ed by the ladies of the club with Mrs.

Mr. Harry Baker, of London, spent•
the week -end with his parents, Mr.'
and Mrs. Fred Baker.
The river went out on Tuesday
night and as far as known caused
very little damage. One electric light
pole on the fisherman's dock snapped;
the boats were pushed back by the
ice, some of them right against the
hill, but considering the thickness of
the ice very little damage was done
compared to some other years.
