Miss Norma Dietz is at present as-
sisting at the D. E. Kyle egg -grading
station.
Mr. John Jarrott, of Mickle's Mill,
staff at Hensall, .was able to return
to work on Monday after a week at
home, due to a cold which had set-
tled in his throat.
Mr. Alfred Westgate, who has been
employed by Jarrott Bros.' for the
past three years, has resigned, his
resignation to take effect April 1.
It is reported that Mr. Jos, Daynaau
is again confined to the botise with a
heart condition.
Mr. Cliff Watson, who has not been
so well of late, has now developed a
bad attack of pneumoniae, and it is
hoped that his, condition will soon
improve.

Mr, and Mrs. Arnold Gackstetter
made a business trip to London on
Thursday last.
VARNA
On January 28 there passed away
in Wyandotte General Hospital, De-
troit, Cecil E. Wiley, after an illness
of ten days. Deceased suffered a very
heavy stroke from which be never
fully recovered. He was born on the
Parr Line, Staniby, on the Wiley -
homestead, June 24, 1895, being a son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Wiley.
He went to the States in 1926 and on
May 11, . 1940, was married to Mrs.
Frances Buster. He leaves to mourn
his loss his wife and step -daughter,
Mrs. C. Grimm, Detroit, and a sister,
Mrs. Gertrude Reid," Varna. A sister,
Mrs. Amos Keys (Agnes) predeceas-
ed him in 1925. The funeral was held
from Girrback Funeral Home, River
Rouge, and the service was conduct-
ed by Rev. Mr. Ducket, minister of
the Presbyterian Church, of which de-
ceased was a member. Interment was
in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The entire
community extends its sincere sym-
pathy to Mrs. Reid in her bereave-
ment.
At. the time of writing we are sor-
ry to report Mr. Henry Aldwinkle fe
in Victoria Hospital, London, and his
many friends hope for a speedy 're-
covery.
The many friends of Mr. Orin Dow-
son
owson will be pleased to know he has
returned from Toronto where he un-
derwent an. operation for spine trou-
ble, and we are pleased to report he
is home and quite himself again.
CONSTANCE
Mr. W. J. Dale was made director
of the .Clydesdale Breeders' Associa-
tion at the convention held in Toron-
to last week. He was also appointed
as a representative to the Western
Fair and is to attend a meeting of
that society in London.
Mr. and Mrs. George ,McIlwain and
children visited Mr. and Mrs. 'Kings-
well in. Goderich last Saturday.
The snowplow is plowing the roads
for the coming election.
BRUSSELS
The Brussels fire brigade turned
out at 12.24 p.m. Monday to deal with
an outbreak of fire at the J. C. Adams
chopping mill. The fire was discover-
ed by William King who entered the
premises to remove a load of chop.
The staff was off duty for the dinner
hour. Mr. King raced to the tele-
phone office and gave the alarm. Bill
Coleman and? Max Oldfield held the
blaze in check with band extinguish-
ers • until the arrival of the brigade
with the fire hose. The fire originat-
ed in the office and is thought to
have been caused by an overheated
oil . stove. Damage to the premises,
other than the office,, is reported as
negligible. The staff was not due to
return to themill until 1 p.m., and•
Mr. King's timely arrival on the
scene and prompt action averted what
may well have beep a mayor fire.
Mrs. George McCall sustained a
fractured hip as a result of a fall in
her home Saturday evening. She is
now in the Wingham hospital,
