"The Pines," Chatham are spending
the Christmas vacation with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Mack.
George Bell, who has been sailing
all season, arrived. home last Friday.
Mrs. Ellen Howard left last week
for Detroit, where she will spend the
holiday season.

Bonnie are spending Christmas leave
with the former's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. F. Wooton, Montreal.
Mr. and Mrs. James Kirkland were
Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Pym.
Miss ,Mildred Miller and Miss Flor-
ence Be11, of London, spent Sunday
at the home of Mrs. Thos. Bell.
'The Winchelsea school concert was
held in the church Thursday evening
with a capacity crowd and with chairs
in the Malec to accommodate the
crowd. Rev. Mr. Mair was chairman
and the numbers were. well taken by
the pupils under the direction of the
teacher, Mr. Harvey Spading, and
mus,caI director, Mr. Wien. A wel-
cea by girls of Grades 1
and 2 and the opening chorus, "San-
ta. Claus is Coming To Town," were
given, followed by dialogues, "Concert
Party," "Playmates in Fairyland,"
"Home Management," "Spring Clean-
ing"; cantata, "To Do Its" and a pan-
tomine, "'The Christmas Story," with
angels, shepherds and the manger,
and the singing of the Lord's Prayer
ended a fine program. After present-
ing Mr. Wien with a gift, Santa Claus
arrived with treats for the thildren.
HOWICK
The Howick Council met in the
clerk's office according to adjourn-
ment, the reeve, John Winter, in, the
chair. The members were all pres-
ent. The minutes of the last regu-
lar meeting were read and on motion
of Strong and Farrish were adopted
as read. Moved by Strong and Gow-
dy: That the Clerk be instructed to
prepare a by -Law setting the date of
the inaugural meeting of oouncil on,
January 5, instead of the second Mon-
day in January. Carried. Moved by
Zurbrigg and Strong: That Bylaw No.
11, of the Township of Howick, for
the year 1947, as read the third time
be finally passed. Carried. Moved by
Zurbrigg and Parrish: That we in-
struct the Clerk to order eight copies
of the Mthilcipal World. Carried.
Moved by Gowdy and Zurbriggi, That
the Clerk be instructed to correspond
with the Clerk of Carrick regarding
the Town Line between Beimore and
Provincial Highway No. 9, as to be-
ing assumed as a county Algliway.
