The monthly meeting of the Even-
ing Auxiliary of the United Church
takes place at the home of Mrs, Hed-

will present the devotional period.
The study will be given by Mrs. B.
Kyle. Roll call will be a Christmas`
gift for the Protestant Orphanage,

Hensall Institute Will Meet
The December meeting (Christmas
meeting) of -the Hensall -Institute will
be held at the home of Mrs. W. Din-
nin on Wednesday night, December
10. Miss Florence Welsh is co -hos-
tess. Roll call will be (a) My favor-
ite carol, (b) My special collection to
aid the War Memorial Children's' Hos-
pital Fund, London. Mrs. Cross will
give the motto, "The manner of giv-
ing is worth more than the gift." Miss
Ellis will ,e the guest speaker.
Christmas carol singing will be con-
ducted by Mrs. Brown. The social
committee will be Mrs. Dinnin, Miss
Welsh, Mrs. Shirray, Mrs. H. Faber,
Mrs. J. Paterson and Mrs. C. Forrest.
The Hensall Chamber of Commerce
held their November meeting in the
Town Hall on Tuesday evening at
6.30. The ladies of the Presbyterian
Church served a fine dinner to about
fifty members. Rev: R. A. Brook
moved a vote, of thanks to the ladies.
Sam Ronnie led in several sing -songs

During the 'business part of the
meeting it was decided that the stores
would remain open on Wednesday af-
ternoons during December, and also
remain open on the evenings of Dec.
22, 23 and 24. It was also decided to
observe Boxing Day_' During the vein -
ter months of January, February and
March, the stores will close at 10
o'clock Saturday nights. -
The following committeeswill look
after the next three meetings; For
January—The Sports Committee; for
February, the Entertainment Commit-
tee; for March, the Agriculture Com-
mittee. A committee was appointed
to arrange for the annual community
Christmas tree to be held on Satur-
day, Dec. 20, at 2.30 p.m. A free pic-
ture show will follow in the Town
Hall and all. the children in the com-
munity are invited.
Mr. Peter ,Murray has returned
home after spending the summer
months with his son, William Murray,
at Imperial, Sask. Mr. Murray and his
twin .brother, David, of Fillmore
Sask., will celebrate their 81st birth-
day Dec. 18.
The many friends of Mr. John Mc-
-Lean will regret to learn is confined
to his home with illness,
The Ladies' Aid of Carmel Presby-
terian Church are sponsoring a sale
