Tuesday Night Club of First Church
Meets.—About twenty-five members
of the Tuesday Night Club motored
to the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. W.
McMillan and Mr. and Mrs. Robert E.
McMillan on Tuesday night to spend
a pleasant evening. Miss Alice Reid
was in the chair and discussed the
business, W. J. Thorppsen read the
Scripture lesson; Robert E. McMil-
lan led in prayer, and Mrs. Frank
Kling sang "My Task," accompanied
by R. E. Becktel. Miss P. Patterson
read an interesting article from, the
Reader's" Digest. A few exciting
games were played and later a de-
licious lunch was served.

the W.A. of Northside Church spent
a delightful evening Monday, Nov. 3,
at the home of Mrs. J. M. Scott. Mrs.
P. B. Moffat opened the meeting by
reading a poem, "A Dollar and a
Cent." After singing "What a Friend
We Have in Jesus," Mrs. C. Walden
led in prayer. The .minutes of the
`September and Octoberuieetings
were read ,by the secretary, Lat�r-
Mole. The roll call was answe bbf
a Christmas wish. Plans were com-
pleted for the W.A. bazaar to be held
on Nov. 28. The closing hymn, "My
Faith Looks Up To Thee," was sung

Ladies' Aid of First Church - Meets.
—A, most interesting meeting of the
Ladies' Aid of First Presbyterian
Church was held in the schoolroom
on ' Tuesday afternoon when Mrs.
David Ritchie was the guest speaker.
Her aubjeCt was, "The Peace Tower
in Ottawa," and she connected Re-
membrance Day with her talk. Mrs.
J. A. Munn occupied the chair in the
absence of Mrs. H. R. Scott, the presi-
dent. Mrs. John MacTavish, secre-
tary, read the minutes and Miss Belle
Campbell, the treasurer, gave the re-
port. A nominating committee was'
appointed, the 'convener being Mrs.
W. M. Stewart, with Miss E. David-
son
avidson and Mrs. J. J. Sclater as the com-
mittee. The bazaar held last Satur-
day amounted to $188.90. Mrs. Frank
Kling sang "Bonnie Mary of Argyle;"
accompanied by Mrs. E. Geddes. A
hymn was sung. and the meeting clos-
ed with, the Lord's Prayer repeated in
unison.

St. Thomas' W.A. Holds Meeting.
—The Noveifrber meeting of St.
Thomas' Brandi of the W.A. was held
at the Rectory on Tuesday, with nine
members present. Mrs. C. F. L. Gil-
bert opened the meeting with the Lit-
any and members' and Lord's Prayer
in unison. Mrs. George McGavin read
Psalm 23. The various reports were
read' and accepted. The Dorcas sec-
retary reported on articles bought for
the bale, packing and -sending it. The
question of ways and m ns to raise
funds for the. W.A. w brought up.
Mrs. Gilbert introduced the new study
book, "One Family," and discussed
the first chapter. The offertory was
received and dedicated. The 1948
church calendars have come and sev-
eral were sold at the meeting. The
annual meeting will be held Dec. 2
at the Rectory. Mrs. Gilbert closed
the- meeting with the prayer from
chapter 1 of .the new study book and
the benediction. Tea was served and
'a pleasantsocial hour spent.
The Late Mrs. Hugh Dunlop.—Mrs.
Hugh• Dunlop passed away after an
illness of three. years about 3 p.m.
on Saturday, Nov. 1. Mrs. Dunlop was
born at 'llowmanville, •and • was mar-
ried on Nov. 7, 53 years ago in Hal-
lett Township. Her maiden name was
Sarah Jane Martin, Besides her bus=
band, slhe is survived by two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Orville Dale, Seaforth;
Mrs. Leslie Oliv'er, Brussels, and one
son, Peter Dunlop, Seaforth; also one
brother and tw'o sisters, Prank Mar-.
tin, Brussels; Mrs, Peter Dodds, Mc-
Killop, • and Mrs: George Dickson,
Md'IGiilop. Her youngest brother,
Fred, pr;edeeeasecl her about thirty
year's ago. She was a member of
Cbnstatiee United, Church. The fun-

to call on the sick, shut-ins and new-
comers to the parish for the mouth
of November. Plans were made to
hold an afternoon tea, a sale of home
made baking and a drawing for a
Christmas cake on Saturday, Dec, 6,
in the School Hall. Mrs. Jas. Dev-
ereaux gave a very interesting paper

Souls." Mrs. T. D. Sills–kindly offer=

When a proposed•. candidate is not present, big nomination paper
shall not be. valid unless there is attached thereto e'bidence satisfac-
tory to the Returning Officer that he consents to. be so nominated.
A meeting of the Electors will be held in the Community Hall,
Londesboro, 2 p,in., Friday, November 21st, to hear proposed candi-
dates, and' in case- more than the required number of candidates to
fill the office are nominated and a vote demanded, a Poll will be held on
MONDAY, DECEMBER 1, 1947
