St. Thomas' Ladies' Guild Meets.y-
On Tuesday "of this week, in the Par-
ish Hall, the Ladies' Guild - of St.
Thomas' Church held its October
meeting with nine.„ members present.
The president, Mrs. G. McGavin, ..op-
ened the meeting with Scripture read-
ing from Con I, chap. 4, for, the 18th
'Sunday after Trinity, followed by spa•
tial prayers for the parish, for parish
workers and the Lord'sPrayer in uni-
son. Due to the secretary's• absence,
Miss Holmes read the minutes of the
last meeting. The treasurer had a
most encouraging report. ,Plans were
detailed for an afternoon tea and),
bazaar on Nov. 19. The next meeting
will be held at the home of Mrs.
Shaw on Nov. 11, when members will
bring their gifts for the bazaar mys-
tery tea. After the dedication of the
offertory, the. meeting was • closed
with ,the 'benedi'ctian.

Mission Band Meets.—The autumn,
thankoffering meeting of the,Alert
Mission Band was held Tuesdaafter
school in the school room of 'North,'
side United Church, The first hymn
was "We Plough the Fields," follow-
ed by prayer by Mrs. Bradshaw, The
LeSi an was read by Pat ..Iiawkins: The
minutes were read and the roll call
answered by 36 members. The busi-
ness period tollo'w'ed. A piano solo b3^'
Beth Johns 'vas eiijoned'. Gesell Chris-
tie read a missionary ‘• Story about
India, The hymn,, "Jesus Loves Me,"
was sung and- Mrs. Leeming told a
very- interesting story: The Last hymn'
was "Stand Up For Jesus?' The tee`m-
bers were given Christmas' cards' and
Scripture \calendars to sell for the
benefit of the Mission 'Band. The
journal, "World Friends," was dis-
tributed and the meeting closed with
the Mission Band benediction.

third quarter was read by Miss A.
Ferguson, and a temperance reading
was given by Mrs. C. C. Kaine, "One

Stewardship," . and Mrs. Finlayson
gave a reading, "Jeans Talks About
