Died 7n Hamilton. -Word was re-
ceived on Friday, July 18, of the death
o1 Jolin Hartman, former well known
Seaforth resident. Mr. Hartman died
in Hamilton at his soil's residence, in
his 87th year...Befere moving to Sea -
forth twenty years ago, he lived near
Zurich. 'His wife died a year ago.
He ie .survived by six sons and one
daughter: Bernard, Thedford; Ed-
win, Gederich; Charlie, Sarnia; Kuno
_anL Phillip, Zurich; John, of Hamil-
ton, and Agnes, of W.allacebure.. The
funeral was held Monday' morning
from the homestead, lot 4, concession
11, Hay Township, to St. James'
Church, Seaforth, where solemn re-
quiem' high mass was sung at 10 a.m.,
with burial in • St. James' cemetery"

Dearth bi William E. Hogg. — The
1Sud•den death of Mr. William E. Hogg
on Wednesday evening, came as a
shock to his many friends, as he had
only been ill' for two days, having
suffered a heart attack. Mr. Hogg
was born in McKillop, the son of the
late William Hogg and Martha Brown
and was in- his 74th year. He was
married to Agnes Grieve, of McKil-
lop, in •1899, and in 1922 went • to
Stratford where they lived for fifteen
years, returning to Seaforth about
nine years ago when Mr. Hogg ac-
cepted a position as caretaker at
Scott Memorial Hospital.. Mr. Hogg
is survived by his wife and one son,
Mr. Leslie Hogg, of Preston. The de-
ceased was a member of First Pres-
byterian Church. The fuineral will
take place on' Friday at' 2 p.m. from
the residence of Mrs. Thomas Hab-
kirk, Victoria Street, with interment
in Maitland•baeak cemetery.

OF WATER SYSTEM
At a meeting of Brussels village
council on "Tuesday evening the °tax,
rate wasset at 40 mills, -an increase
of two mills over the 1946 rate. The.
increase was partly due• to 'tthe in-
crease in the county rate. Plans
were made for the ratepayera' meet-
ing which is to be held on Friday eve-
ning. The purpose of .this meeting
will be to . discuse the proposed in-
stallation of waterworks. A consult-
ing
onsulting engineer will ,be present, and al-
so Dr. Berry, director of sanitary en-
gineering for the Provincial' Depart-
ment of Health.

of Mrs. Mary Dalrymple, of Klppen,
and the late :George • Dalrymple, to

ford, was solemnized at St. Andrew's
United Church Manse, Kippen, Satur-
day, July 19,'at 2.30 p,m., Rev. A. Hin-
ton officiating. The bride was charm-
ing in a street -length gown ''et' ice
blue crepe,with which she wore white
accessories. Her bouquet was of red
roses and lily of the valley. Their
only attendants were Mr. and Mrs. O.
Robinson, of 'Detroit. Following the
ceremony a luncheon was served at
tee bride's home: -The bride's mother
was attired in, blue crepe. After a
short trip to the Niagara District they
will reside in Kitchener. For travel-
ling the bride chose a gray checked
suit with black. and white accessor-
ies, Out-of-town guests were present
from Kitchener, . London, Stratford
and Detroit. '

A pretty wedding • was solemnized
in St. Mary's Church, Kitchener, when
Loretta Gertrude, daughter' of Joseph
Roach, St. Columban,..and the late
Mrs. Roach, was united in marriage
to John Maurice Lavigne, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Lavigne; 34 Chestnut
St., Kitchener. Rev, N. Lavigne, bro-
ther of the -bridegroom, officiated at
the ceremony and sang the nuptial
mass. The bride, given in marriage
by her father, looked lovely in a .gown
.of white slipper satin. Miss `Isabel
Purcell, Stratford, was her cousin's
bridesmaid and Paul Lavigne, Kit-
chener, brother of the bridegroom,
was groomsman. A -wedding dinner
was served at the Olde Mill Coffee
Shoppe, Kitchener. Mrs. "Frank Hart,
St. Columban, sister of the bride, re-
ceived the guests. Later the guests
motored to the home of the bride's
uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs: Thomas
Purcell, Dublin, where a reception
was held. The bride's grandmother,
Mrs: Johanna Roach, 87, St. , Colum -
ban, was an honored guest, Mr, and
Mrs. Lavigne left on a motor trip to
Rondeau Park and points east, . On
their return they will reside in Kit-

Wingham Hospital a life-long resident
of Morins Township, in the person of
William Robert Kerney, in his 77th
year, He was the son of the late
James Kerney and Ellen McCracken,
and -his-sudd'en--passingaieas- a-great
shock to the community, as he suf-
fered a heart attack. He leaves to
mourn his loss his widow, the fotmer
Nettie Lawson; one son, •La,wson, of
London, Ont., and •one daughter,
(Beatrice) Mrs. Erle C. Dow of
Cromarty; also .nine grandchildren,
aitd one brother, Frank Kerney, of
Brllssels. The funeral wast head frotil
