a pretty wedding when Vliss ,Evelyn
McBride, daughter of Mi. and Mrs.
William McBride, Toronto, was unit-
ed in marriage to Mr. -Clayton Ritchie,
son of Mrs. Eleanor Ritchie and the
late Robert Ritchie, of Seaforth.
Adjutant Pinclred, of the Toronto
Temple, ;assisted by ;Maier Bolton, per-
formed the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs.
Ritchie will reside in Toronto.

Meets.—The June meeting of the W.
A. and W.M.S. was held at the home
of Mrs. A. ;McLellan on Thursday.
June 26. Mrs. W.• A. Gardiner open-
ed the W.M..S. meeting by singing
Flymn 37.6. The minutes of the pre-
vious meeting were read and adopted.
Mrs. li-eyes gave an article on Tem-
perance, and Mrs. Cleinence a paper
on • Christian Stewardship. Mrs, R.
McGeoch conducted the warship ser-
vice. Mrs. -McGregor took the topic
from the study book. The W.A. then
took over the meeting. The minutes
of the previous meeting were read and
adopted and th'e roll call taken. The
offering was received and following
the business period Mrs. Boyes read
a poem and Mrs. Gardiner closed the
meeting with prayer.

The Late' Mrs. William Murdie.—
The sudden death occurred: in Luck -
new on Mouday, June 30, of Mary
Sutherland, wife of Mr. William Mur -
die. Mrs. Murdie' had -been ingood
health and her sudden death came' as
a shock to her many friends and rel-
atices. She was born in Seaforth, a
daughter of the late 'air. and Mrs.
Alex .Suthe.rland, former ,residents of
this town. Mrs. SVIUrdie was married
here in 1900, and is survived by her
husband, three sons, Kenneth Mur -
die, at home; Meal, of Toronto, and
Clarence, of St. Thomas, and one
daughter, Mrs. Malcolm Armstrang„
of Fort William. Deceased attended
the public 'school here and was .later
a taijoress in the Greig Clothing Co.

was a member of the United Church.
The funeral was held on Thursday
from Lu.cknow United Church with
Rev. Stewart officiating, 'Interment

Death of Herbert W. Colquhoun.—
The death occurred in Scott Memor-
ial Hospital. 'on Tuesday. July 1. of ,a
highly respected citizen of this town
in the person of Herbert Wade Colqu-
houn, in his 71st year. - Hehad been
ill about a year. Deceased was born
i Hibbert TownsttSp Sand was mar-
ried 'in Hensall on June 5, 1907, to
Alma Beatrice Kerslake, of 'Cromer-
'ty, who survives him, together with
two -sons. Frederick Ross Colquhoun
'and Donald Alfred Colquhoun, both of
•Toronto. He is also survived by four
sisters; Mrs. Elizabeth A. Kennedy,
Clinton; Mrs. T. Frank Brooks, Win-
nipeg; Mrs. Morton T. Corless, and
Mrs. Harry, Fitzsimmons, ) of 'Clinton,
and one brothel', Mr. W. T. Colqu-
laoun. of Mitchell. Before leaving for
the West he operated a butcher shop
in Seaforth add later was a retail
merchant in Winnipeg. He returned
to Seaforth in 1945. He was a mem=
ber of t'he Northern Light Masonic
Lodge, Winnipeg. and of North-
side.United Church; The funeral took
place Thursday afternoon 'frc4ba his
late residence, High Street, with Rev.
R. H. Williams officiating. Interment
was in Mattlandbattsk cemetery. '

ed the funeral on Monday of the late
Mrs. James MoSpadden, who passed
FtWaY in Victoria Hospital, London, on
Saturday, June 28. , Mrs. McSpadden.
whose maiden name was Agnes Mer-
riless, was born in Glasgow, Scot-
land., • She, together 'with a sister
and brother, came to Canada, resid-
jug ,in •Montreal for a number of.
Llears. Mrs. McSpadden devoted her
time to music and was -.soloist in one
iof Montreal's largest churohes. In
religion she was a deikited Presbyter;
Ian. She had been a patient suffer-
er from'arthritis fora period of years,
