THE TALE OF
TWO FISHING ME
The year was nineteen forty-seven,
The month was May, the angler'
heaven;
Two fishing men, I knew them well,
Each one a story had to tell.
Theyivasked me would •I be the judg
As neither one of theria would budge
I said I'll do the best I can,
And weigh the stories man to man.
And now the first to tell his tale,
A barber chap, his name, Lorne Dale
The ether.raan was Charlie
_
s.
A noted angler, used to thrills.
Lorne said he caught a 'speckled trou
The hook securely thronghits snout
Then zip! a yank that bent the Iiool
And it" was back safe in the brook.
I never did feel quite so low
As when I saw that beauty. go:
I've fisted andDeaught some big ones
too,. .
Boy,! this was tops, I'm telling you.
Said Charlie; Lorne, you had a dream,
I know that hole, I know that stream
'Tyres just ia big mud turtle lad,
And that is what made Lorne so mad
I saw him there not long ago,
And hooked him too; but let him go
The setting sun got in your eyes, •
It's fooled a lot of hailing guys.
I think I lean a lot toward,eLorne,
I've fished 'since ever I was born,
And 'IN -ten a big one -gets away,
not saying what we say.
There still are turtles, still some trouts
Don't let this get you on the outs;
We'll have our jokes, we'll fish again
IChat is the way with sporting men.
