Modern in every respect, the new
Red- Star Service- Station and Garage
owned and operated by Mel. E. Clarke
of Seaforth, will open on Friday, June
27. As a opening attraction 'Mr.
Clarke has arranged a free «showing
of motion pictUres, followed, by a
free dance. The evening's program
will get undel, way at nine o'clock. ,
Of white stucco, 'the service station
is a one -storey building, of _modern de-
sign, and includes a large show rooin,
office and, •refreshmene booth. A
garage 50 feet by 90 feet forms, a
portion of the building and opens on
Market Street. The service station
proper faces on Main Street.
The new building will provide ac-
sammodation for -Mr. Clarke's display
of cars, trucks, auto accessories and
household appliances, In addition to
the film line of Reo trucks and busses,
and Hudson cars, he will display the
Firestone line of household appli-
ances.
Mr. Clarke, in his new building,
will provide full garage facilities and
will be in a position to carry out re-
pairs to any makeof, car.
The service station will handle a
full line of Red 'Star, products. 'Mr.
Clarke is district distributor far Mc-
Manus Petroleum Corporation; mar-
keters of Red Star gasoline.„
The erection of the building, which
has been under way for Some time,
provides a big improvement in the
'appearance of the Main and Market
Street corner. Since the fire which
destroyed the former Broderick block,
the corner has been unused.

to Mr. Gregory, William .Hearn,, son
of Mr. and Mrs. H. Hearn, 308 Queen
St., Stratford, was anteMnizell
home. of- the bride's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Albert .Smale, Staffa,, on Satur-
day afternoon, June 7, at. one o'clock.
Rev. A. H. Daynard. officiated. Mrs,
H. Keyes, Varna; played' the wedding
music and the soloist, Miss Louise
Case, Seaforth, sang "0 Perfect Love"
and "Always." The bride, given in
Marriage by her father, was wearing
a gown of twilight,' satin designed'
with sweetheart neckline and long
sleeves. She were a, double strand
of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom.
Her full-length veil was held in place
with a white ostrich plume and she
carried ,,,red. Peerless roses, The
bride's :attendants were 'her sister,
1VIrs.,A. Hildebrand, Seaforth, matron
of honor, and Miss Marion ,Fiselier,
'Stratford, as bridesMaid. Vhey 'wore
similar gowns of net and lace fash-
ioned with 'bouffant skirts. Mrs,.
Hildebrand was in pink and the
bridesmaid had chosen blue, They
wore shoulder veils and lace gloves
to match their gowns and carried bOu-
quets of yellow Queen Elizabeth ros-
es. Mr. David Ellis, Stratford,. was
best man. Pink and white streamers
'formed the 'setting for the reception
and wedding dinner. Those assisting
were: Miss Nyle Doig, Miss Leuise
Case, Seaforth, and Miss Betty Mc- brown and corsage of red roses. They

"Ernest William Murray was born
in Seaforth, in, 1884. He received his
early education in Seaforth and later
attended the 'University of Toronto
where -he graduated from the faculty
of applied science in 1907. He re-
.ceived his apprenticeship on a Dona
inion land survey party which su
veyed, the 12th and '13th base lie lin,s
in the vicinity of Yellowhead Pass,
Alta. He returned 'to the university
in 1908, taking a, post -graduate course
in civil engineering and also qualified
as a Dominion land surveyor.
"He joined the Saskatchewan De,.
Partment of Public Works as a Sur-
veyor- in 1910 after engaging for a.
short ,periad In construction,work on
hydro -electric power stations in West-
ern Ontario'. • In the 'Saskatchewan:
department, he worked 'on surveys of
rights-of-way, for highways and -„Also
conductedidrainage investigations. '
"On the retirement of M. B.
Weekes in ,1940 he was, promoted to
'the post of director of surveys, de-
partment 'of .highways. Since then
'hp' has been in charge of securing
right-of-way for highways, supervis-
ing drainage wars and carrying on
the operations of the highways de-
partment with respect to townsitea
and other work.
"He is a past' president of the Sas-
katchewan Land Surveyors Associa-
tion.
"In Setforth he, was a member of
the famous Hurons, championship
soccer team and while at university
played ori the senior soccer team. He
was captain of the team that visited
New York And Philadelphia in 1905
and 1906 winning the inter -Collegiate
soccer championship of America.
^ "In Regina he played on the old
National football team in the 'city
league, and on the civil service team.
He was alio active in hockey, tennis
and. badminton.
"He has two daughters: In the em-
ploy of the British OVerseas Airways
Corporation at New York, and he
lives at 3115 College Avenue with
his wife and Mrs. Annabel Reid,. a
daughter."

her husband during his long illness.

For Seed Time," A duet entitled,

William Murray, Egmondville, of the
death of his niece, , Mrs. Wallace
Coutts, of Neepawa, Man., who' 'be-
fore hef marriage was Lavina Mur-
ray, eldest daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. John Murray. She is sur-
vived by two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude
Keene, of Hensall, and Mrs. Elliott
Walters, of,. M,cKillop, and 'two bro-
thers, Mr.- Walter Murray, of Kenora,
and Mr. Neil Doig, of Seattle, Wash.
Death of Mrs. J. Barkley
Mrs.. W. J. Nott received word of
the death .of Mrs. James Barkley, of
Echo Bay, which occurred on Tues-
day, June 3. She is survived, by her

of Mrs. Willis Dundas. The meeting
opened by all repeating in unison the

by prayer by Ethel Dennis. Mrs.
Dave' Boyd read the Scripture lesson
from Nehemiah with Mrs. Tom' Storey
