Corley, a descendant of one of the earliest pioneer families of Mount Forest, died at his home in Montreal. He .had been in poor health for some time. He was. a. son of the late James Corley and' of Mrs. Corley, and one time several years ago was in the employ of the former J. MacTavish store. Besides his widow, surviving are his mother,• two sisters,' Mrs. Norman (Reta) Dremmie, of Elora, and Mrs. Jean Christopher, of Toronto; two bro- thers, 'Harold• and Lawrence, Mount Forest. A brother was killed in World War II. Burial was in Mount Forest Cemetery. Infant Baptism, Sunday, May 11. - Tuesday Night Club Meets. — Mr. and Mrs. Russell Allen entertained the Tuesday Night Club of First Pres- byterian Church on Tuesday evening last, when there was an enthusiastic group of twenty present, Miss Alice Reid was in the chair and plans were •made to bring a play from Hensall to town. Mrs. W. J Thompson told of the church services which she had attended while en a trip to• Salina, Kansas. During the program of the evening, numbers by the celebrated negro singer. Marion Anderson, were heard on the record player. A de- lightful lunch was, served at the close of the' meeting.. Death of Miss Dorothy O'Connell. —Miss Dorothy O'Connell, a former well known resident of Seaforth, passed away in her sleep at her home. in Detroit. on Tuesday, April 29th. Miss O'Connell had' not ibeen -in "the best of health for a short time, but nothing• serious was anticipated, so that her 'sudden death came as a great shock to her 'mother and other relatives, and as well as to a host of friends in this district and Detroit. Miss O'Connell was a daughter of the late J. D. O'Connell, deputy registrar of Huron County, and) Mrs. O'Connell, and was born in Goderich. Following the death' of her father, the family came to Seaforth, where her early life was spent. She was educated in the Seaforth Separate School and Col- legiate Institute, later , •graduating from Stratford Business College. Sonne twenty years ago she, with. her mother and other members , of her family, moved to Detroit, where for some time Miss O'Connell had been private secretary in tlie Mortgage' De- partment of .the Detroit Bank. She is survived by her mother, with whom she made h,er home, and was prede- ceased by one sister in 1918 and,two brothers in later years, -Thefuneral will be held from the residence of her uncle, Mr. F. S. Sills and Mrs, Sills, John Street, Seaforth, on Friday morning, May 2, , at 10.30 a.m., to St. James' Catholic Church, where High 'Mass of Requiem will 'be sung by Rev. Father T. P Hussey. Interment will be in St. James' Cemetery. r , Death of William Oke. -The death took place on Friday evening, April 11 25, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ben Higgins, Clinton, of a well known former resident of Seaforth, in the person of William Oke, in Iris 84th year. Death was_..due to' a heart at- tack., The deceased' w•as born at Centralia and. was first married to' Caroline Louisa Mills,. who passed away -in 1911, and later to Lottie Elva Hearn, who -also predeceased him in 1939. He is survived by four sons: Cecil, of Tuckersmith, and Hugh, Roy and -Leo, of Hamilton, and• one daugh- ter, llfrs. Brock, of London, and a 's:tep'datighter•, Mrs, Howse, of Hamil- ton; one easter, Mrs. Higgins, Clinton, arid a rother, Mr. Andrew Oke, Toronto. of Mr. Oke was employed by the Seaforth Creamery •from 1915 un- tie he retired in 1930. Prior to that he was engaged in farming. During the funeral service, which' was held at the residence of Mr. Cecil Oke, Tilckersmith, oa Sunday,,,Mrs. Elmer Cameron sang "Abide With Me," ac- companied' by Mist Elliabeth Mills. Rev. H. V. Workman offciated at the service and interment was •i.n. Malt - landbank cemetery. The pallbearers were Willard Cameros, Arthur Nich- olson, Edwin 'P. Chesney, Wilfred ;Coleman, Robert Tyndall and .Sher- wood Brock. The flower bearers were John McGavin, John McLachlan, Casey Way, Charles MGKay and Samuel Cudm'ore. LOCAL BRIEFS • • Mrs. D. H. The deceased was a :son of the late Mr. and Mrs; James ,O'Connot, and 'was born in. Hibbert township August 2, 1882, where he spent most of his life: Solemn High Mass, which was 'cele- brated in St. Columban CCO:arch op. Saturday morning- at 9.30 o'clock, had an unusually large attendance. The celebrant was •Father O'Drowski, as- sisted by Dr. Ffoulkes, of Dublin, and Father McQuaid, of Scarboro Bluffs. The 'pallbearers were John Murphy, Joseph:. Stapleton, Maurice Dalton, "Rol- and. Kleinfeldt, Joseph Doyle and Aug- ust Ducharme. Surviving are his widow, Agnes Krauskopf, of Dublin; five' daughters and, three sons.: Sister Mary Daniel' (Rase), Sarnia; Sister M. Concessa (Caroline), Leamington; Mrs. C. Deceased was a devout mem- ber of St. Coluroban Church and. be- longed to the Holy Name •Society. He served as trustee for a number of years on the "'Dublin Separate and High .School, Boards, and was chair- man for three years, Mr. O'Connor was a devoted husband and father, who gave so untiringly to his wife and family, and was a highly respect- ed member. of the comrunity. His cheerfulnes's and love for his, family - and friends helped him retain• ,a re- markably, youthful spirit throughout his years. Mr. and. Mrs, .
