Death of Mrs. Alva Way.—The cora-
munity..was ,shoCked to learn of the
death of 'Lillian 'Maud Elizabeth Oke,
beloved wife of Alva Way, who pass-
ed away following a heart .attack Sun-
day morning, Deceraber 22. Although
Mrs. Way had been inflicted! with a
heart Condition and 'arthritis for some
years back, there was no iddicaticin
that she was ailing.more than ustial
as a result of these attacks. She had
anticipated -Christmas with all the en-
thusiasm of the past and •hact- about
eompleted plans and preparations and.
New Year's festivities, with her fam-
ily and friends, and; her sudden death
,at the approach of the Christmas sea -
Son came as a severe blow to herte-
loved ones.. Oke was,
born November 6, 1875, at ,Goderich,
and was the youngest of four •chil-
dren of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Oke,
and grew up in Goderich .community
where she was well and favorably
known. On August 29, 1899, she wa.s
united in marriage to AlVa W. ,Way
and during their married life resided
in God,etich and in McKillop Tewn-
ship, and for the past 30 years in
Tuckersmith. Mrs. Way Was a staunch
Methodist, having been attached to
Goderich, Kinburn •aiad Kippen Meth-
odist Churches, and in 1925 followed
that church. body into Union that is
known as the ,,United Church of Can-
ada. .:1VIrs. Way, lover of flowers
and gardening, was an enthusiastic
horticulturist and maintained her ins
,terest to the last. It was there she
found the. comforter which gave :her
,the fortitude and courage to carry on
midst 'adversities and •physical inflic-
tions. 'Mrs. Way, is surVived by her
lnisband; two sin's, Case -C. Way and
,Clifton Clare, Way, fate ,of the R.C.A.
now a patient of . Westminster=
Hospital; four . daughters, Mrs. Rus-
• sell Dallas .(Ellen), Mrs. Georg.e. Jack- ,
son (Ida), -Mrs. 3: RP;Cross (Gladys),
Mts. Harbld Shera (Evelyn); also orfe
sister, Mrs. Ruth Schultz, St. Peters-
burg, Fla. A private , funeral ' was
held Tuesday afternoon frora, her late
residence with her minister, Rev. W.
A. Gardiner speaking, very touchingly
on the life of the deceased during the
time he had known her, mentioning
specially the fortitude and courage ,in
Which she had concealed the, extent
;of her suffering, her cheery greeting
of her friends, her firmneSs Of her be-
lief, arid her kindly,motherly interest
in her, faintly. Rev. Elford offered
