Seaforth Women's Institute Plans
Meetince-1-•The December meeting of
the Seaforth Women's Institute will
beheld at the home of Mrs. James F.
Scott en T tilfiiay, Dec: 10, at 8.30 p.m,
This will be a social evening and the
gentlemen are•„invited, Ladiesare, .re-
quested to, -bring sandwiches. A good
program, including moving pictures,
has been planned.

Goforth Mission Band Meets.—The
Goforth Mission Band of First Pres-
byterian Church held their regular
meeting in the schoqol room of the
church, and the meeting opened by
all standing and'"repeating the Pledge
to the Empire and Church. This was
followed by "God Save the King." The
offering was then received, followed
by the offeratory prayer. Mrs. D. H.
Wilson took over the business. Karen
Kidd read: the story, and the meeting
closed with the benediction.

Tuesday Night Club Meets.—Mr.
and Mrs. Claire Reith were host and
hostess- to ' twenty members - of the
Tuesday Night. Club on Tuesday -eve-
ning. Mrs., David .Stewart read the
Scripture lesson and Mr. Robert Mc-
Millan led in, prayer. Miss Alice Reid,
the president, was in the chair, and
Mrs. Reith was in charge of the pro-
gram. Mrs. R --H. Williams and Mr:
Clare Reith gave papers on the origin
of a familiar hyo}n, "Silent Night,
Holy Night"- and the poem, "'Twas
the Night -Before Christmas." Rev. 'R.
H. Williams led in the closing prayer,
after which an interesting game was..
played. 'Mr. and Mrs. Reith then sere..,
ed a delicious 'lunch. - , -

Died in Toronto. --Word was receiv-
ed - here by relatives. Thursday that
Mrs. Peter Kerr had passed away at
her home in Toronto early that morn-
ing. Mrs. Kerr was 'the former Cath=
erihe' Johnston, daughter,. of 'the late
Thomas Johnston, -'of -Walton, Atter
her marriage to Mr. Kerr they farm-
ed in McKillop township until' 1919,
when they moved to Seaforth, later
removing to. Toronto. Mrs, Kerr suf-
fered a cold -over the week -end, but
previously .had enjoyed good health,
and her sudden death early Thursday
morning came as a great shock to her
family. Mr. Kerr predeceased her five
years ago, .but she is survived by a
son and daughter, Mr. Gordon Kerr
and Mrs. James Gillespie, !both of To-
ronto. The funeral will be held on
Saturday, Dec. 7, followed by inter-
ment in Toronto.
C. W. L. Holds December 'Meeting.
-The December meeting of the Cath-
olic: Women's League of St. James'
Church was held in the school hall
with the president; Mrs. Wm. Hart,
presiding. A letter was read from the
diocesan president; Mrs. Michael Dew-
an, Ingersoll, -dealing with the dioces-
an convention whin was held in Chat=
ham, Two deflations of $10 were vot-
ed to be sent to the Sisters of Service
and to Bishop Jordan of the Prince
Rupert Mission, Members of the
League are requested to collect used
postage stamps which will be sent to
the Sisters of Service. The meeting
closed with prayer.
Cunningham Edge.—A very pretty
wedding was solemnized in St.
Thomas' Anglican Church, Seaforth,
on Wednesday,. Dec. 4, at 1.15 p.m.,
when' Miss Josephine Leonora Edge,
daughter o8 the late Mr. and Mrs.
Henry B. Edge, was united 'in mar-
riage to Mr: Charles Cunningham, son
of Mrs. A. Becker, of:Kitchener, and
the late Mr, Cunningham, Blyth, Rev.
C, F. L. Gilberrperformed the cere-
riaony and Mr. George Clark played
the wedding music and accompanied
Mrs. B. J. Higgins when slle sang dur-
irg the signing of the register,' The
bride, who was given in marriage by
her brother, Mr. E. W. Edge, of To-
ronto, was becomingly gowned in a
red and fushcia dress, black bat and
accessories, 'and carried reel roses.
Mrs. E. W. Edge was matron of honor,
wearing a brown ensemble with a
corsage of pink roses. Mr. John Stev•
ens, Seaforth, was the groomsman,
and the ushers were Mr. Harold Cun-
ningham, Kitchener, and Mr. George
'Cunningham, London. A reception
was held at the Commercial Hotel
when„ sixty guests,Were present. Mr.
and -Mrs. Cunningham left' later for a
trip to points east, the bride wearing
a royal blue dr ss, brown hat and ac-
cessories to mdtch. On their return
they will reside in Seaforth,

—The following is the. annual report
of St. Thomas' Women's Auxiliary:
It is with grateful and thankful
ii'sarts • that we give the 57th annual
report of St. Thomas' Branch of the
W.A. During the past year nine regu-
lar meetings were, held with an aver-
age attendance of 10 members. There
are '36 members, -11 of whom are life
members. Three 'new members were
welcomed,'driring the year. Owing to
generous denatione we were able to
fulflti all obiigatfeng and pledges, also
send one pair sheets and pillow slips
to Huron College, , and make .an outfit
for a, Ave -year-old boy-'aiid girl in con -

L. Gilbert, the .president, spoke on
the .work of the Anglican Advance
Appeal, stressing a more steadfast de-
votion to the work of the church in
all' its branches; discussed the study
book, "More Than Conquerors," and
called attention to many articles of
interest in the Living Message. At
the 'October meeting the new , study
book, "India At the Threshol'd," was
introduged. Sne also gave a shr}rt but
Interesting account of the .Dominion
Annual and General Synod ,held in
Winnipeg,,,, the presence of the Arch-
bishop of Canterbury making it more
than interesting. At the October meet-
ing it was, learned that the name of
the Auxiliary had been changed by a
resolution of --the Board, meeting in
Winnipeg, to "The Woman's Auxiliary
of the Church of, England in Canada."
As we enter upon. another year of
service, in the words of the Dominion
President, "May God help us and use
us, as we continue our efforts to served
His will and purpose to bring in His
kingdom, through Jesus Christ Our
Lord."

Ladies' Aid Meets.—The Ladies' 'Aid
of First Presbyterian Church 'held
their annual meeting in the school
room of the church On Tuesday, Dec.
3, with a good attendance. Mrs; H.
R. Scott was In the :chair and the
meeting. opened with a 'hymn, after
which she read a poem, "No Room in
the Inn," and led in prayer. The 'min-
utes were read and twenty-six calls
were reported. The treasurer report-
ed a subcessful year. During the busi-
ness period it was decided to continue
the five -cent -a -week plan. The execu-
title • is responsible for the January
meeting. Mrs. E. A. McMaster and
RNaren Kidd sang two duets. The
guest speaker was Mrs. J. F. Scott,
who,gave a most interesting message
on "Prayer." Miss E. Davidson led
in prayer to close the meeting. The
