W. M. S..Holds Meeting. --The Sen-
ior Auxiliary of the Women's Mis-
sionary Society• of First Presbyterian
Church held its' November meeting at
"Thornton gat:, Mrs. R. Eberhart
opened( the meeting with, the reading
of a poem and prayer, and conducted
the business. Mrs. Neil Gillespie gave
the current events. Mrs. John Beat -
tie's' group had charge of.the program.
The Bible readdng was given by Mrs.
Beattie and a prayer by Mrs. Helen
McMillan. Three excellent papers on
missionary, work in Africa were pre-
pared and read by Miss Simpson, Mrs.
J. G. Mullen and•, Mrs. John J. Cluff.
A social hour was spent at the cons

Barbara Kirkman Auxiliary Meets.
The November meeting of the Bar-
bara Kirkman Auxiliary of First Pres-
byterian Church was held on Tuesday
evening. .The meeting was in charge
of the Jean Reid 'Group, of which
Mrs. R. R. elcKindsey is convener,.
and who conducted the .devotional
part of the program. Mrs. Earl Bell
read the Scripture lesson and Miss
Edyth Davidson gave the Glad Tid-
ings Prayer. The offering was taken
by Mrs. T. G. Scott and Mrs. M. W.
Stewart. Topic was taken by Mrs. Mc-
Master, giving an interesting paper on
She gave a very interesting paper.on
the last chapter of the study book on
Africa, . •stressing the importance ' of
missionary work in that country and
telling of, the amazing faith and zeal
of ' the ,native Christians. . The' De-
cember meeting will be held• on De-
cember 10.

blue oop and black accessories. On
their return they will reside in Sea -

Meets.—The •meeting of Egwomdville
W.A. and W.M.S. was held at the
home of Mrs. Elmer Stevenson on
Thursday, Nov, 21. The, meeting op-
ened with the" president, Mrs.. Alex
Boyce, 14 the chair, and by singing
,Hymn 286, "Dear Lord and Father of
Mankind." Roll call was responded
to by 26 members. The minutes of
the last meeting were read and adopt-
ed and any business to he transacted
was now done. A duet by Mrs, Stev;
enson and Mrs. MacKenzie was much
enjoyed. The offering for the W.A.,
amounted to $3:80, The meeting wa•,
then• turned over to the W.M.S., with
the president, Mrs. Gardiner, in the
chair. Two verses of Hymn •239, "0
Spirit of the Living God" was 'sung
and Mrs. Gardineroffered prayer,

Mae (-ane Auxiliary Meets. The
November meeting of the Mae Lane
Auxiliary of Northside United Church
was held on Tuesday evening, Nov.
26, with President Mrs.' B. F. Chris-
tie presiding. The opening hymn,
"Prayer is the Soul's Sincere Desire,"
was sung, followed with prayer by
Mrs; R. Savauge. Assistant Secretary
Mrs. J. A. Westcott, read the minutes
of the September and • October meet-
ings. Interesting reports on the Hur-
on' _Presbytery meeting held in. Wal-
ton on October 24, .were given by two
of the delegates, Mrs. N. Knight read
the morning• session, "Christian Brod
therhood," by Mrsr'•E. B. Goudie, who
was unable to be 'present. Miss Win-
nifred Savauge gave the • afternoon
report, "Christian. Unit¢" being the
subject taken by the speakers. Mrs
Lillian Barber . then took the chair.
"0 Master, Let Me Walk With Thee"
was sung and Mrs. Barbergave a
short reading 'on "Prayer," after
which the Lord's Prayer was repeat-
ed in unison. Miss Ethel Beattie gave
the Scripture reading, Mark II. Miss-
es Mabel Turnbull and Ruth Cluff fav-
ored with a duet, "How• Sweet the
Name of Jesus Sou'nds," accompan-
ied by Mrs. Jas. A. Stewart, and was
much: enjoyed, The topic; chapter 3
of the study book on"Meet the Wo-
men of India," was led by Mrs, Turn-
bull, assisted by Mrs. M. Hadfield and
Misses Vera and• Laura Mole, under
the following headlines: (a) Influence
of Christian Missions; (b) Literacy -is
the Key Education; ' (e)'" Home. Life;
and proved interesting and educa-
tional. Miss Thelma Elgie read a
poem, "She Clings To God," and the
meeting closed by singing "My Faith
Looks .Up To Thee," and repeating
the Mizpah benediction in ,unison.

Anglican Church, Seaforth, was the
scene of a pretty wedding on Wed-
nesday afternoon, ,Nov. 27, at 3 p.mn,
when Rev. C. F. L. -Gilbert united in
holy matrimony, Audrey Anne, daugh-
ter of Mr: and Mrs. George McGavin,
Seaforth, and Mr. Bruce Maxwell- Mc-
Lean, son of Mr. and Mrs. -David Mc-
Lean, Tuckersmith. The church*, was
tastefully decorated with white 'mums
on the 'altar_ ' Mr. George Clark, the
organist, played the wedding music
and accompanied Mr. Allan Elston;' of
Centralia, *hen be sang "Oh Promise
Me," and during the signing of the
register when he sang "The Church is
One Foundation." The bri7le, who was
given in marriage by her father, was
charming in a white nylon marquis-
ette gown over slipper satin, with
bouffa.nf Skirt and bishop sleeves. The
gown was trimmed with pearls, an,a
she-wore-•whi-te lace- mittens, aud-car=
ried a white prayer book and a nose-
gay bouquet of red roses and stream-
ers. The bride's sister, Miss Marion
McGavin, was pretty. in a gown of
pink suede dotted net with shoulder
veil, lantern sleeves and a pipk fea-
ther headdress;' and wore pink •mit
tens. Her flowere were pink Barna,
tione and •white • mums. The grooms-
man was Mr. Maxwell Switzer, of
X irittort; and the ushers were Messrs.

Orton Stubbs escaped with minor in-
juries when he was knocked down `by
a truck which skidded on the slippery
road surface Saturday afternoon, The.
truck, coming from Formosa, accord-
ing to witnesses who read an own-
er's name on it, did not stop. It was
thought that the driver might have
been unaware that an accident ,.had
oecurred. Mr. Stubbs wee- standing
beside a light trick owned. by Paul
Watson when.,the heavier truck turn-
ing oat to pass a horse and buggy in
charge of G. Bisback, skidded on the
icy road- surface. -
