Women's Association Meets Ori
Monday evening, Nov. 4, Group 2 of
the Women's Association met at the
home of the Misses Laura and Vera
Mole. The president, Mrs. James M.
Scott, opened the meeting by reading
a poem, "November Days." The hymn,
"There Were Ninety and Nine," was
sung, after which Mrs. Roy Lawson
led in prayer. The minutes were read

ing- address on "The Power of Pray-
er" and also touched briefly on the
life and poems of the 'late H. Isabel
Graham. "Son Of My Soul" was sung
and the Mizpah benediction was re-
peated in unison. Mr& Roy Lawson
then conducted a contest, and a social
half-hour followed. -

C. W. L. Holds Meeting.—At the reg-
ular Monthly meeting of the Catholic
Women's League of. St. • James'
Church, Seaforth, held Monday eve-
ning at the home of Mrs. J. J. Cleary.
a report on the 26th annual•'diocesan
convention of the Catholic Women's
League of Canada was given by the
local sub -division delegate,' Mrs. C. A.
Trott. At the' convention, .which. was
,held at —.The Pines," Chatham, Oct,
15, 16 and 17, Miss Alice Daly was
elected to the office of 2nd vice-presi-
dent of the London Diocese. Miss
Daly and Mrs. Trott were extended• a
vote of thanks. Plans were made for
a home baking sale to be held on Sat-
urday, "Nov. 23. "Mrs. 3, L. Slattery
reported a balance of $38:28 'in the
treasury. Many calls were made to
the sick, shut-ins and newcomers of
the parish during October. 'Instruc-
tion papers qn "The Feast Of All
Saints" were given by Miss A. Daly.
The meeting closet with prayer, led
by the past president, Mrs. C. P. Sills,
who presidedin the absence of the'
president. 'A social hour followed with
tea served by the hostess.
Death of Wesley E. Nicholls.—Wes-
ley
icholls: Wes-
ley E. Nicholls, a resident of 'Seaforth
for 46, years, died at. his home, Chalk
Street, early Sunday morning, Nov. 3.
,He had been in failing health follow-
ing a stroke suffered four years ago.
Mr. Nicholls. was born ,in Atwood 69
years ago; a son of the late Mr. and
Mre. William. Nicholls. Following his
marriage in 1904, to the former •Miss
Gertrude Pinkney- Seaforth,. they
made their home in Seaforth. He was
a member of First Presbyterian
Church and of the Canadian Order,;of
Forresters. Surviving besides his
wife is one •ton, Stanley, at home.
There are also two brothers, William,
of. Lumsden, Sask., and Wardell Nich-
olls, of Atwood, and one sister, Mrs.
Ella Thomas, London. The funeral
service was held at his late home on
Tuesday afternoon at 4 .o'clock. Dur-
ing the service Mr, James T. Scott
sang "The Old Rugged • Cross." Inter-
ment followed. in Maitland'bank ceme-
tery, Rev. "R. H. Williams 'officiating.
The pallbearers were: Messrs. Harry
Hart, Scott Kerr, Fred Johnston,
William Sturgeon, Robert Grieve and
Fred McGavin. Floral tributes Were
received from: Mr. Wardell Nicholls,
Mr. Bob Cunningham, •Mrs. Ella
Thomas and Roy, Mrs•. Norman Nich-
olls and' Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Fortune,
Mr. and Mrs. David: Pinkney and' Miss

sister, Miss . Teresa McIver, of To-
ronto, who wore a Cordelia rose wool
dress similar to that of the bride's,
turquoise plumed hat with matching
veil • and gloves, and, a corsage of tea
roses. Mr. E. J. Doyle, Thorold, was.
'groomsman. A wedding dinner was
served, at the King Edward Hotel to
the immediate relatives, after which
.Mr. and Mrs- Coffin ._ left .. for- Points
south. • On their reurn they will reside
at 110 Rose Park Drive, Toronto.
Tuesday Night Club Meets.—The
Tuesday Night Club of First Presby-
terian Church met in the school room
of the church on 'Tuesday evening;
when Rev. E. R. Stanway, of Bruce -
held, gave an interesting talk on,
mission work in China; he tieing a
former . missionary there, and told
many things about their. customs.
The meeting was in charge of, Mrs.
Kenneth Campbell. Mrs. Clare Reith
read the Scripture lesson and Mrs.
F:' E. Willis led in prayer. Following
the meeting a delicious lunch. was
served with Miss Alice Reid as con-
vener.
