Dies in Saskatchewan.: Word was
received, by Mrs. Helen Berry (Hallie.
French), of London, "formerly of Sea -
forth, of the sudden death of her only
brother, Roy French, of Ernsford,
Sask:, on Sunday, Oct. 13. Mr. French
was born in Seaforth and lived here'
until twentyfive years ago, when he
and his wife and family 'moved to
Saskatchewan. He was the only son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robevrt
French.

Young. Adult Group Meets.— Rev.
George Minelly was the guest speaker
at the Young Adult Group -•meeting -•in
Northside United Church on Wednes-
day evening, when there was an at-
tendance ofnearly forty. The meet-
ing took the' form of a pot -luck slip-
per, after which Rey. H. V. Workman
introduced the speaker, who took .for
his subject, "The Wdrk Among the
Youth of the Church." Mr. Jaines, A,
Stewart and Miss Mabel Turnbull led
in community siliging.

Died in Brandon.—The death occur
red on Tuesday night, October 15, of
Charles Sidney Yeo, aged 76 years,
of 514 -Louise Ave., Brandon, . Manito-
ba. Deceased was born in Staffa, Ont.,
and went West fifty years ago, set-
tling in the Douglas district before
moving to Brandon to make his home.
lie was a member of First Church
United. Surviving are' his widow and
two daughters, .Mrs. Alma Elston and
Miss. Elsie Yeo,' ni d one grandson,
Clayton Elston, all of Brandon. • There
is a brother, Dr. R. J. Yeo, 'in Winni-
peg. Funeral services were held on
Thursday at 2.30 from Campbell and
Ferguson's Funeral Home, with bur-
ial in the family ,plot -in Brandon
eenietery. Rev. E. D. Errey conduct-
ed the service's.
Barbara Kirkman . Auxiliary Holds
Thankoffering Meeting.—The autumn
thankoffering meeting of the Barbara
Kirkman Auxiliary of First Presbyter-
ian Church was held on Tuesday eve-
ning with a large attendance. Mrs.
W. A. Wright, the president, was in
the .chair. Mrs. Reg. Kerslake read
the "Scripture lesson and Miss Belle
Campbell led, in prayer. Mrs. David
Ritchie spoke on the hymns, telling
the story( of the lives of many of the
writers. Following her interesting and
inspiring address, Mrs. M. R. Rennie
played "Nearer My God To Thee,"
after which Mrs. J. A. Munn sang
"The Ninety and Nine." Miss S. h
McLean extended a sincere vote of
thanks to Mrs. Ritchie. Mrs. Dais
Nixon and Mrs. R. R. McKindsey re-
ceived the collection, which amount-
ed to $91.60.

Church Holds 79th Anniversary
Lovely autumn flowers -adorned the
altar of St. Andrew's .United Church
on Sunday last for the 79th annivers-
ary. The guest speaker at both ser-
vices
ervices was Rev. Mr. Stanway, recent-
ly inducted minister at the United
Church, Brucefield. Special music was
furnished by the choir, assisted by,
several members of Hillsgreen, with
Mises- Betty Moore, of Seaforth, as
guest soloist. •

we are at present enjoying a spell
of very lovely weather, after having
a fine shower that freshened the ap-
pearance of vegetation, and the wea-
ther at • present"is enabling the farm--
ers to take up the roots. Some have
already taken up their mangolds.
Mr. Stephenson,, of Varna, accom-
panied by Miss Mossop and Mrs.,Beat-
ty, Were visitors one day last week
with Mr's. S. A, Miller, of Cromarty:
Mrs. Batten, of Winchelsea, also made
a short call one day last week.
Mr. Scott, who was suffering .with,
a bad cold, is able to be out and
around again.
Mr Thomas Laing, who spent some
time in the West, has arrived home,
also Mr. Will Harburn. Mr. and Mrs.
Sibrsdahl are also expected home in
the near future.
Notice will be given- later of a• fowl
supper to be held in the near future.

taking a special course in egg -grading
at the Ontario Agricultural College,

The many friends of Mrs. Gertrude
Reid will be sorry to• know • .she suf-
fered a slight ''stroke last 'week and
is now resting comfortably ,at the
,home of her daughter, Mrs. Jamieson;
in Brucefield. We hope for a 'speedy
recovery.
We are also sorry to report Mrs.
William Hart had the misfortune to
fall in her home Saturday. As a re-
sult -her lett shoulder was dislocated,
which will take some little .time to,
recover.
Mrs. Margaret McClymont ,has- re-
turned to her home . after spending
several weeks with her daughter,
Violet, who had her wrist broken at
the home of Miss Mary McAsh, Hen-
sall. We are sorry to record so many
misfortunes.
Mrs. Bennie Payne and daughter,
Gertrude, in company with Mr. Harry
McClennan, .of . JamestoWn, , were
guests at' the home of Mr. and Mrs.
J. F. Smith on Saturday.

called Monday on the latter's uncle

Mr. Ernie Clark, a Stanley youth,
who spent the summer months in
Northern Saskatchewan, gave an in-
teresting talk oh his experience in the
mission fields. There was a good at-
tendanee of Ernie's friends out to
bear him in theUnited Church Sun-
day night, and alLwish him success
in his effort in the ministry.
Miss Gertrude Smith is spending
some time in Montreal.
