Goforth 'Mission Band Meets.—The
Goforth Mission Band held their regu-
lar meeting in the school room of.
the 'church. The meeting opened by
all standing and repeating the pledge
to the, Empire and to the Church. This
was followed by "God Save, the King."
Mrs. D. H. Wilson then took over the
business. The offering was 'received
followed by the offeratery prayer.
Doris Stevens took the chair for the
devotional program, which opened by
singing Hymn 171. Karen Kidd read
the Scripture, Psalm 23, and Marilyn
Kling and Mary Copland gave sen-
tence prayers. Mrs. Wilson then told
the• story, and the meeting closed by
singing Hymn - 768, followed by the
benediction.

' St. Thomas' Guild Meets.—The regu-
lar monthly meeting • of the . Ladies'
Guild of St. Thomas' Church was held
_on Tuesday of this week in the parish

and Mra. George McGavin, the presi-
dent, opened the• meeting with 'scrip-
ture reading from Epl;iesians, chapter
4, followed by prayers for the parish.

er in unison.. The secretary read the
minutes • of the last 'meeting. After
all reports were dealt with, plans
were made for catering for the clergy
conference, later in the month of
November, and for the .annual bazaar,
home baking sale and afternoon tea
on November 6. The offeratory was
received and dedicated. 'Mrs. C, F.
L. Gilbert then closed the meeting
with the benediction.
Dies in. London,—James, Dalton, a
well known figure in Western Ontario
centres, died in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London; on Monday, following an ill-
ness of two months. Mr. Dalton, who
was in his , 76th year,. was a retired
railway mail clerk, working on the
Goderich-Buffalo run of -the C.N.R. for
over 30' years, and 'subsequently on
the ' Goderich-Toronto run. Born in
Kingsbridge, he resided in Goderich
for 35 years, and since his' retirement
10 years ago, had lived in London,
Mount Carmel and Grand Bend. His
wife, the • former. Elizabeth 'Donavon,
of Seaforth, died '14 years ago. Mr:
Dalton was a brother-in-law of Mrs.
Albert Fortune, of Seaforth. Surviv-
ing, are one son, James, of Mount
Carmel, and three sisters, Bridget
Dalton and Elizabeth Dalton, both of
Chicago, and Mrs. Jennie ReadY, of
Seattle: The remains rested at the
home of his son in Mount Carmel un-
til Wednesday .mornirrg; when re-
quiem high mass was sung in the
Church of . Our Lady, Mount Carmel.
•Interment took place in Colborne

of William Harvey McClure; son of

Mrs. McClure, . Seaforth. The church
was beautifully decorated with tall
standards of gladioli. Rev, D, S.
Jackson, officiated, and Mr, Max Mc-
Intyre played the wedding music. The
bride was' given in marriage by her
father and looked pretty ina gown
of white satin and net, floor length,
sweetheart neckline, long sleeves and

ing on Tuesday. evening, Oct. 8, at 8
o'clock. Mrs. Roy Lawson and Mrs.
B. F. Christie; presidents, presided.
The opening hymn, "0 God of Beth-
el," was sung and Miss A. Lawrence
led in prayer. Mrs. Christie 'gave a
reading, "History Repeats Itself." A
duet, "Tarry With Me, 0 My Saviour"
was beautifully rendered by Mr. arid
Mrs. Jas. A. Stewart, acconr,panied on
the piano by Miss W. Savauge: A
temperance address, ,"Worship and
Wassel" was alily given by Mrs. J. C.

day, Oct. 3, with a large attendance
present. Mrs. A. W. Gardiner epee -
ed the meeting with Hymn 2.19, "See
Israel's: Gentle Shepherd Stand,"'fol-'
lowed by prayer by Mie. Edgar' Butt.
The minutes' of the last meeting were
read and adopted and the roll call
was answered with the word 'Cour,
age,' , Business was discussed, and
Mrs. A. Forbes and.. Mrs. R. McGon-
igle were appointed to, attend •the
sectional meeting to be held at Wal-
ton. Mrs. W. McMillan read the Scrip-
ture lesson; Mrs. Keys read a tem-
perance paper dealing with child de--
linquency; and Mrs; A. Clemence gave
a ' Christian Stewardship reading:
Psalm. 19.was read in unison and the
study book was on India. Hymn '445
was then sung, "All the Way My Sav-
iour Leads Me.;'Mrs, Frank Kling
sang two beautiful solos, "Christ' Shall
Be the Conqueror" and "My Task,"
accompanied on the piano by Mrs. J.
McGregor. Mrs, Edgar Butt conduct-
ed two .interesting contests, and the
meeting •closed with a vote of thanks
to the hostess and soloist by

McLellan. Lunch was served a
social half-hour was spent. On Sept.
11, the Egmondville church ladies en-
tertained the Brucefleid and Winthrop
Church societies OS .a special meet-
ing. Rev. Mr._.Stanway,.of Brucefield,
United Church, was guest speaker,
w'ho' brought a very inspiring message
which was enjoyed by all present. A
salad .plate -lunch was served to 90
ladies; which • brought a very interest-
ing meeting to a close.
