McLean - Spurr.—A pretty wedding
took place at the home of Mr. and
Mrs,. E, W. Spurr, New Glasgow, N.S.,
on Tuesday, Sept. 3, when their daugh-
ter, Winnifred Goulding, became tire
wife of Andrew Young McLean,, sou
of Mr. and -Mrs. Keith M. IVIcLean,
bf Seaforth. The ceremony was per-
formed by Rev. Harvey Denton, of
Halifax, assisted by Rev. Byron Man-
zer, of the First Baptist Church, New
Glasgow. Miss Mary Doull, of Halifax,
played the wedding music. The bride
was given in marriage by her father
and the young couple was unattend-
ed. At the reception which followed
the ceremony, Mrs. Gilbert C. Jarrott,
of Stratford, presided at the table and
the servers were girl • friends of the
bride. Later Ms. and Mrs. 'McLean
left by plane for Charlottetown, P.E.I.
They will reside in Seaforth.—(New

man's Missionary Auxiliary meeting
of Northside United Church was held
Thursday, ' Sept. 12, with Mrs. A.
Cuthill presiding, on account of the'
president, Mrs. JL Lawson, being ab-
sent, because of illness, which we'
hope she may recover shortly. The
opening hymn, "All the Way My • Sav-
iour Leads Me," was sung, followed
with the Lord's Prayer • in unison
The treasurer's report was given by
Miss•A. Ferguson, and Mrs. J. Finlay-
son, gave a reading on Christian Stew-
ardship, and a Temperance reading
'by Mrs. C. C. Kaine, "Water and
Health." The minutes of the August
meeting were read by Mrs. Porteous.
Circle No. 1 then had charge of the
meeting with Mrs. F. Storey as cap-
tain. The study for 1946-47 is to be
India. Psalm 720 was chosen for re-
sponsive reading, followed with sing-
ing the hymn, Ftom- All That Dwell
Below the Skies " -and a reading and
prayer by, Mrs. F. Storey, Miss A.
Lawrence introduced "India" with the
map of India, followed' with an India
quiz,' Mrs. D. Aikenhead and Mrs. F.
Storey taking part.. The hymn, "Jesus
Shall Reign- Where'er the. Sun" was
sungand the meeting closed- with
prayer „by Mrs. F. Storey.
Chesney I-Horn,—The Red Deer,
Alberta, Advocate of August 28, con-
tains the following wedding announce-
ment of which both the principles and
'their parents are well known to the
people of Seaforth.. and_._d strict. The
groom is a son of Mr. G. L. Chesney,.
a former hardwaremerchant of this
town, and Mrs. Chesney, who is a
native of Seaforth; while the bride is
a granddaughter .of Rev. Stephen
Bond, who for some years• was min-
ister of the Methodist Church here.
Also a guest.. 'at the wedding was Mrs.
R. B. Welliver, the former Miss Grace
Elder•, of Seafortb: "On Wednesday,
August 21, at 3.30 p.m., Lorna -Kath-
leen younger daughter of Mr, and
Meg:" D. G. Horn, became the bride of
Me.' Douglas Stuart Chesney, younger
son of Mr. and Mrs. G, L Chesney,
of Calgary. Rev, J. C. Gardine per-
formed the ceremony at the home,of
the bride's parents. Gladioli and
sweet peas decorated the house, The
wedding march was played by Mrs.
Geo. Horn. The bride, given in Mar-
riage by her father, wore a white lace
dress with long sleeves and a round-
. -ed. neckline. The gathered skirt drap-
ed to a long train which was covered
by a veil of embroidered net. She`was
attended by Mrs. G. M. Hutchinson
nee Miriam Horn), who wore a light
green' dress of embroidered net and
carried a brim:vet of •pink and mauve
sweet peas, Mr. Arthur' Chesney, bro-
ther,of .the groom, was best man. Af-
ter the wedding the two families were
served a luncheon by .the brothers of
the bride. Fdra travelling the bride
wore an embroidered blue crepe dress
with coat of matching color, and ac-
cessories 1n black. After a trip to the
mountains, Mr, and Mrs. Chesney will
make their home in Calgary, where
the groom is in business with his
father." '

at 8.30 o'clock;. when Mary Margaret,
only daughter of, Mrs. Joseph Hickey
was united in marriage to Mr. Lawr-
ende Murray', son of Mr. Michael Mur-

ence Murray, sister of the groom, was
the bride's attendant and she wore a
turquoise gabardine suit with ,nosegay
of pink and blue bowers, The groom
was attended by Mr. Cyril Jordan of
Kinkora. The ushers were Kenneth
Murray and Norman O'Connor. Break-
fast was served at the Hick's House,
'Mitchell, to the immediate relatives.
Following a reception held at the
Hickey residence where Mrs. Hickey
received in a black gown, trimmee
with' gold acc"tessories and wearing a
corsage of white gardenias, Mr. and
Mrs. Murray left on a trip to Detroit
and Chicago. The bride• travelled in
rose wool crepe with brown accessor-
ies. On their return they will reside
in Windsor. '
