Former Resident Dies in Seattle.—
The death occurred in Seattle on
June 23 last of Florence Walker,
widow of the late Mr. Brydone. Mrs.
Brydone was born in Seaforth, and
since' moving to Seattle had made
several trips to her home - town and
has many friends and relatives here.
e is survived by a daughter, Mrs.
l oward; one sister; Mrs. Maria Eg-
gler; a niece, • Mrs. O. D. Fredericks,
two grandchildren and several, nieces
and nephews. Interment was made in
Seattle.

Youngest son of. Mr. and Mrs, George
Swale, Hensall. The bride 'was given
in marriage by her uncle, Mr. Ed.
Brady, and 'looked • eharmipg ip a
street -length dress of sheer crepe
with a "wreath of white gardenias,
shoulder -length veil and carried red
Talisman roses. Mrs. Thomas Burns
was matron of honor, wearing a• pow-
der blue dress and shoulder' -length
veil and white accessories, and .car-
ried pink asters and sweet peas. Mr.
Thomas Burns, cousin of the,,,bride,
was best man. The ushers ' were
Messrs. Edward Brady and Thomas
Smale, Hensall. Miss Julia Flannigan
sang "Ave Marie" during the signing
of the register. Following the cere-
mony a wedding. ..,dinner was served
at the Royal Hotel, Mitchell, to the
immediate friends. In the afternoon
Hold . Shower 'For Bride -Elect. —A
shower was held ,at the home of Miss
Edna Papple on Wednesday evening
in honor of Miss Mary Hickey, whose
marriage takes place Monday. Con-
tests conducted by Misses Ev'elan Riv-
ers and Mae Clarke, were much en-
joyed, and a nock wedding proved en-
tertaining. Those taking part were:
Bride, Maxine Dunlop; groom, Eleanor
Shannon; bridesmaid, Phyllis Scott;
groomsman, 'Mona Bennett; bride's
father, Edna Papple; minister, Mae
Clarke: Miss Evelyn Rivers read a
short address and Misses Marjorie
Hunt and Pat: Meir presented Miss
Hickey with a wool blanket and mir-
ror. .Lunch was served.

byterian Church, Toronto, was • the
scene of a ..lovely autumn `wedding on
Saturday,: Sept. 7, at 2.30 o'clock,
when Agnes Elizabeth (Betty) dangly.

wedding' music.' Mr. David R. Stew-
art, Seaforth; sang "0 Perfect Love"
and "For You `Alone.' Given' in mar-
riage by -her father, the bride was
gowned. in a portrait gown of .palest
ivory brocaded satin, fashioned with
a moulded basque and bouffant skirt,
sweeping into • a circular train. -'The
bodice was made with long tight fit-
ting , sleeves and inset with a deep
drop -shoulder yoke of sheerest mar-
quisette edged with a Bertha collar
of the brocade. With it was worn ,a

The
eets—The September meeting of . St.
Thomas` Church Guild was held in
the Parish'Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
Mrs. G. M.e.Gavin, the. president,.- was
in charge, and eleven members and
one visitor, Mrs. 'Hurford, answered
the roll call. The Scripture reading
from ,the Epistle for 'the. 12th Sunday
after Trinity, was taken by . Mrs. W.
E. Southgate, followed by prayers for
the church, the parish and ,the Lord's
Prayer in unison. Reports of all, con'
mittees were dealt with and plans
were -made for the annual bazaar and
afternoon tea to be held on Wednes-
day, Nov. 13,' Rev. Mr. Gilbert paid .a
brief but very welcome •visit,. • After
the dedication -of-=the offertory,.. the.
meeting closed with the benediction.

roses: The groom's .mother . chose a
green suit, with a corsage of yellow
ruses. For travelling +'the .bride chang :

niat'ching hat and Cobalt blue coat,
and wore •a corsage of Talisman ros-
es. After a „trip to Limberlost, Mus-
koka, they will reside in Toronto.
Northside W. A. Meets.—On Mon-
day evening, Sept. 9, 'Group 2 of the
Women's • Association of Northside
Church met at the•home of Mrs. Peter
Moffat. Mrs. Jas. M. Scott, president,
Opened the meeting by reepating, a
poem, "'Take So. Little." After sing-
ing a hymn, a • few moments of sil-
ence were observed in` memory of
the late•. Mrs. T. Webster., and Mrs.
George Johnston led in prayer. The
minutes, were thenread by tbe secre-
tary, Vera Mole, and the roll was
called. A reading was given by Mrs.
Moffat, "Meet Monty's Mother," after
which "Abide With Me" was sung. A
couple of chapters from the book,
"Clearing in the West," were read by
Mrs. Ross Savaoge and Mrs..Hoy. The
Mizpah benediction was repeated in
unison and .a social half-hour followed.

Death of. Rae .D. Carnochan.—The
death took place in Detroit, on Fri-
day, Sept. 6,• Very' suddenly of Rae D.
Carnochan. Mr. Carnochan was born
in Tuckersmitli, the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs, Williar Carnochan, and
attended school-. in Seaforth. About
seventeen years ago he went to De-
troit to reside, where he was married
to Gertrude Wyncoop, of Columbus,
Ohio. In religion he was a Presby-
terian. He is survived by his widow,
two brothers, Charles Carnochan; of
Edmonton,, and' William Carnochan,
of Vancouver, and three Sisters, Mrs.
James Lille, Dunnville; Mrs. May
Smith, Toronto, and Mrs. R. T. Mc-
Intosh, Ingersoll. The funeral todk
place on Monday from tbe G. A. Whit-
ney Funeral Cliapel••.''with Rev R H
Williams officiating. The pallbearers
were Messrs. William Cameron, Ar-
thur Nicholson, Cecil Oke, Hugh Ches-
ney, Harry Chesney and Murray , Tyn-
dall. Interment was made in Mait-
landbank cemetery.

The Late John Taman.—The death
occurred on Saturday, Sept. 7, in To-
ronto of John Taman, of Cochrane,
in his 33rd year. Mr. „Taman was
horn ii Carleton Place and Was mar-
ried in 1894 to Miss Sarah Carter,
who with a daughter, Elva, passed
away 24 years ago. They' lived in
Blyth following their marriage and
later in Goderich, where Mr, Taman
was manager of a brick and tile yard.
Later they moved to Auburn and Sea -
forth before .going to Cochrane 25
years ago, where he Owned • a saw -
Mill. He had not been in good health
for the past five weeks. Surviving.;
are' three sons, Jack, and Glenn, of
Toronto, and WillianI, of •Cochrane,',
and ane daughter, ars. Roy McGeoch,'
