gathered at the home of -Mr.' and Mra.
Wesley ..Digpan to welcome home
their youngest son, Weldon, and his
charming Scottish war •bride, e,,nti to
tender them a iniscellaneous-sheweir
Mr. Weldon Dignan is azgrandson of
David B. Dignan, of Hay Township.
Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Dignan (for-
merly Mies Margaret Cram, were.
married in Glasgow,,,,,Scotland, over a
year ago. • Mr. Dignan who had spent
the past few -years with the Canadian
army in France,elgium, Holland and
• Germany returned home in. November,
1945. His wife arrived .in.April, 1946.
They will reside in Summerside.
'When, the guests had all assembled,
Mrs. Ira.. Hardy played the Bridal
March .from Loghengrin while Mr.
and Mra. Dignan were ushered by Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Dignan, to seats of
honor which had 'been festooned with
red, white and blue, the color scheme
used .throughout the house.
The gifts which were many and
beautiful included a lovely full.. dinner
set, blankets, quilts and pillows, .pyrex
ware, china and linen, also a quantity
Of • money. Misses Ella Palmer and
Matilda McDonald carried in the gifts
in a gaily decorated basket. They
were opened. by 'Mrs. Alban Creswell
and Mrs. Wallace Rayner. The ac-
companying, cards and good wishes
were read by Mrs. Edward McAus-
land, while Mrs. Edwin Dignan ar-
ranged the gifts on the table.
-On behalf of his wife and himself,.
Weldon thanked one and all. for their
gifts and good wishes and extended a
cordial invitation .to, all to visit them
in their home. The remainder of the
,evening passed pleasantly in social
chat interspersed with musical seled-
tions by Mrs., Hardy. Refreshments
swere served by the hostess, assisted
. by •Mrs. Edwin Dignan, Mrs. Earle
Palmer, Mrs,. Wallace .Rayner, Mrs.
John Lewis,,Mrs. Harold Dignan and Mrs. Alban ,Craswell.
At a late hour the guests departed'
to their •homes carrying with .them:.

nieg spent with their friends and'
leaving behind them a host of good
wishes for many years of happiness
for this popular couple.

WHEREAS the Farmers of Canada have success-
fully fulfilled the expectations of the Allied Govern-
ments in sixpplying food for the Armed Services, and
the people of Great Britain during World War II,
and .
.WHEREAS they are now being; called on 'to supply
the starving peoples of Europe with foodstuffs and
to, contribute .in great measure to producing a large
portion of the world's needs of food, and
WHEREAS, it • is felt that this accomplishment• of
the Canadian Farmers should be publicly recognized
by all,
I THEREFORE P-ROCLAIM a "Salute to Agricul-
ture" during the week of June 17, 1946,'and request
all residents and -merchants of Seaforth to consider
,rid acknowledge the importance of agriculture to
the ec'onoiny of the Dominion of Canada. '

ing of Mr. Andrew Love, of Heneall,
who came to Stanley Township when,.

pathy of the community is extended
to the bereaved family.
