A deliciouslunch was serv- ed by the Soeial Committee,' t ' Death of Melit'Annie Kennedy.—The 'death okccurred- ow Sunday, May '5th, of a well knoiin, and. highly esteemed, resident of Seaforth 'In the person of Miss Annie Kennedy,'in her 91st year. Miss Kennedy was born in' Tucker- s'mith,. the daughter Of the late Angus Kennedy and Annie Robinson. Ex- cept for ten years Spent in Detroit, she lived in this vicinity, coming to Seaforth thirty-nine' years ago. Miss Kennedy had the Misfortune' to fall two weeks ago and fracture -ler hip, from which she did not recover. The deceased is the last of a family of six brothers and sisters. The fun- eral was held from her late home on Tuesday morning to St. James' Church, with Revs T. P. Hussey of- ficiating. During the service a niece of the deceased, Miss Bernice Ken- nedy, of Windsor,' sang a. solo. The -pallbearers were' Messrs. Martin Ry- an;, J. J1 Cleary, C. P. Sills, Arthur Rutledge, P. J. Dorsey and Ray Mc - ,Kinnon. Interment was made in St. James' cemetery. t�p Ladies' Aid Hears.of Jamaica,' B.W.I. —The Ladies' Aid of. First Presbyter- ian Church 'met on Tuesday afternoon when the guest :speaker was Mrs. Stanley F. Grainger,' who has spent the past two years in Jamaica, British West Indies, Mrs. Grainger told of the thrilling trip from Miami to Jamaica by seaplane, and described :the beau- ty of the island withits pretty flowers and shrubbery. The natives,, mostly negro; love church music and' have an excellent band, the music of which was very sweet and soothing: Mrs. H. R. Scott, the president, was in charge of the meeting which opened with a poem a,nd prayer. Mrs. Frank Kling sang two solos, "Lassie" and "In the Garden of Tomorrow," accom- ,pa.nied by Mrs. M. R. Rennie. Mrs. Ray.Holmes' group will have' charge of the jeune meeting. Mrs. Scott ex- pressed -the thanks of the meeting to Mrs. Grainger and Mrs. Kling, arid the closing prayer was given by Mrs. R. • H. Williams, which closed a.most in teresting meeting,_' • St. Thomas' W., A. Meets. — .St; Thomas' Branch of the W.A. met in the parish ball Tuesday afternoon with nine members present. Mrs. Gilbert opened the meeting with the Litany, members' and Lord's Prayer in unison, Mrs. Harold Free read, the 20th Psalm for the Scripture lesson, and the . various reports 'were read and accepted. Mrs. Gilbert spoke on the Anglican Advance Appeal, stress- ing a more steadfast •devotion to the work of the church in all its branches, --tek-ing-•as-a m•ottoe-"Lord--revive--Thy Church, beginning with ore." She al- so read a very spiritually sincere let- ter from a native church, worker in Japan, Mrs. Reids and Mrs. Parke each gave a short report of the W. A. Annual held in London. The meet- ing learned of the large number at- tending Holy Communion and. of a generous thankoffering. The response to the thankoffering boxes given to eachmember or the branch far use during the past year, was most grat ifying, it was ' reported.
