Church, Windsor, was the scene of a
quiet wedding. Saturday morning,
Dec. lst, at 9 o'clock, when Eliza-
beth Anne (Dollie) Cariin, daughter
of the late Mr. -and Mrs. Francis Car-
lin, Seaforth and Staffa, was united
in marriage to Mr. Ignatius L. Me-
Ilhargey, of Toledo, Ohio. Rev. J. J.
White officiated at the ceremony and
sang the nuptial mass. The bride
wore a dress of turquoise blue crepe
with matching hat and corsage of
Richmond roses. Mrs. T. J. Flood
attended the bride as matron of hon-
or wearing a blue ensemble, black
velvet hat and corsage of carnations.
Mr. Flood was best man. Following
the wedding breakfast the couple left
on a short honeymoon, the bride don-
ning a Hudson seal coat trimmed
with gray Iamb. They will reside at
3056 121st Street, Toledo.

Died in Toronto --The death occur-
red at the Toronto Western Hospital
on Wednesday, Nd'v. 28th, of Alexan-
der MacRae, beloved husband of Vio-
let Scott, who is a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. J. 41. Scott, of Seaforth.
Interment was in. the Mount Pleasant
Cemetery. Mr. MacRae died Follow-
ing an operation after a short illness. -
Death of William Morrison. — The
death occurred at his home, Jarvis
Street, on Wednesday, Dec. 5th, of
William Morrison, well known resi-
dent, in his 88th year. He was born
in Hibbert Township, and was mar-
ried to Eliza Jane Sillery at Cromar-
ty, who passed- away five years ago.
They farmed in Hibbert Township
after their marriage, and retired, to
Seaforth thirty-three years ago. He
is survived�iy ten nephews and niec-
es. Mr. orrison was a faithful
member of Northside United Church
and was 'an Elder of that church. He
was also a member of Maitlandbank
Cemetery Board. The funeral will
take place on Friday at aa -part. from
Northside United Church, with Rev.
H V. Workman conducting the ser-
vice. The pallbearers will be Dr. F.
J. Burrows, Dr. F: S. Harburn, F, • S.
Savauge, Joseph Scott, Robert Scar-
lett L. A. L. Porteous. Interment
will lie' ade in Maitlandbank ceme-
tery.

Mrs. Iva Leftch and Mr. Arthur Mc-
Kercher, of Watford, visited Mr. and

Quite a ,umber from this vicinity
attended tie funeral of the late Mor-
ley Jordan l Cl.ipton op, Sunday. For
the past few years Mr. Jordan had
served the people west of Constance
with their mail. He had a bright
sunshiny disposition,' and it will be
hard to fill his place.
Mrs: Earl Lawson went to London
for the week -end to visit her sister,
Mrs. Wm. McMillan, and Mr. McMii-
Ian. •
Master Jerry Jewitt, youngest son
of Mr. and Mrs, Wilbur Jewitt, is
quite i11 at present and under the
doctor's care.
School Section No. 3, Hallett, will
hold their concert and Christmas tree
on Thursday, Dec. 13th. A good pro-
gram is being prepared.
The Constance Sunday School will
hold . their Christmas tree , and con-
cert on Friday night, Dec. list.
Mrs.' Colclough is quite illlqat pre--
ent.
Mr. Adam Glazier, brother-in-law
of Mr. Pollard,. died quite suddenly
last Friday. The funeral was held
an Sunday.

Sister ,Dies in Vancouver
Funeral services were held; Tues-
day at 1 p.m. for a pioneer Vancou-
ver woman here before the fire, Mrs.
Mary Jane Janes, 93, of 2296 East
Forty-first, who died recently. Rev.
A. M.' Sanford, A.D., officiated at the
services in Mount Pleasant Under-
taking. Chapel, and interment was in
Mountain View Cemetery. Born in
Kingston. Ont., Mrs. Janes had lived
in Vancouver for 61 years. Her hus-
band, the late Thomas J. Janes, op-
erated a butcher shop on Water St.,
ana later ran a stage line for mail
tetween New Westminster and Van-
couver, before the building of the
C.P.R. Mrs. Janes was a member
of the First • Methodist Church in'
Vancouver, located on Water Street.
Surviving are four sons:°Capt. A. T.
(Bert); R. Charles; R. Victor, and
Harold W.; three daughters, Mrs. A.
Kirk; 'Misses 'Annie F. and Lily A.,
all of, Vancouver; one sister, Mrs. J.
McGavin, Seaforth, Ont.; 11 grand-
children, and five great-grandchil-
dren. Mrs. Janes was a daughter of
the late Robert Leatherland, and a
sister of Mrs. John McGavin, of Tuck-
ersmith, and was the first white wo-
man in Vancouver.

The Late .Mrs. G. H. Johnston
A shadow of gloom was cast over
the entire community when it learn-
ed of the sudden passing of one of
our most highly respected citizens, in
the person of Mrs. George H. John-
ston. Mrs, Johnston had been cop
fined to her bed for two weeks b z -t.
was gradually• gaining her usual
health when she was suddenly strick-
en, and with little warning passed
Peacefully away. She was in her
54th year. Fprmerly Miss Mary Luel-
la 'Coleman, daughter of -'),frs. Cole-
man and the late Thomas Coleman,
she received her early education in
Tuckersmith, later• atending Sea -
forth Higb School and Stratford Nor-
mal. Qualifying as a school teacher
she' successfully performed her du -
tied at Shelborne, McKillop and
Varna. In 1919 she was united in
marriage to Mr. George H. Johnston,
who with one son, Gordon, are left
to mourn the loss of a loving wife
mother. Also surviving are ber
her, Mra. Thomas Coleman, Sea -
fort",; three sisters, Mrs., Myrtle
Carnochan, Elbise, Michigan; Mrs.
Ephriam Clarke, Mullett, and' , Mrs.
Cecil Oke, Tuckersmith, and two bro-
thers, Francis Coleman, Hallett, and
Russell ,Coleman, Tuckersmith. The
deceased was a valued Member of
Varna United Church, president of
the W.M.S., and teacher of the Jun-
ior Bible Class. Her capability as a
teacher and leader won her a host of
friends. Throughout her life she
lived and , practised, "Love thy neigh-
bor?' Thi floral tributes, which were
numerous, bore evidence of the high
esteem she was held in thin com-
munity. The funeral, one of the
largest ever held from Varna United
Church, was conducted by her pas-
tor, Rey. Reba Herta who spoke very
Impressively of a+seful life that had
been called to a Heavenly reward.
The pallbearers Messrs. Albert
'Mather, Wililatii Hayter, Russell Er-
ratt, George Heid, Lorne . Coleman
and William lL Stephenson. Inter-
ment was made in. Bayfield cemetery
on Tuesday Nov, 27th. The flower-,

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. McKel-
lar, of Cromarty, became the bride of
Bruce Armstrong, son of Mr. and
Mrs. George Armstrong, of Brucefield.
The ceremony was performed by
Rev, E.,,1McWilliams. For her wed-
ding the attractive young bride chose
a graceful floor -length white brocad-
ed satin gown with sweetheart neck-
line, long sleeves with points taper-
ing over the hauls and finger-tip veil.
Her bridal bouquet was white chrys-
anthemums and baby breath. Miss
Betty McKellar, of Cromarty, as
bridesmaid, wore a white triple sheer
gown, floor -length, trimmed with
sequins and her shoulder -length veil
fell from a halo of rosebuds. John
Consitt, of Brucefield, attended the
groom. Following the ceremony a
reception was held at the Royal Ho-
tel, Mitchell. For their wedding trip
to Detroit the bride donned a two-
piece Iime green wool dress over
which was worn a brown coat, a.
smart brown hat' and accessories in
brown completing the ensemble. The
groom's gift to the bridesmaid was a
pearl necklace, ,and to the grooms-
man a wallet. Mr. and Mrs. Arm-.
strong will reside on the groom's
farm in Tuckersmith.
