Northside W. A. Meets.—Group 4,,;of
the W.A. of Northside United Church
held their monthly meeting at the
home of Mrs. W. R. Spence. 'rhe
meeting opened by singing "0 Can-
ada," followed by the Lord's Prayer.
Mrs. G. A. Whitney, the president,
then todjk charrge of the meeting and
plans weiie ;di,Sciissed to entertain the
junior choif the early part of Decem-
ber. Devotional part of the meeting
was taken by Mrs. Whitney in the
absence of Mrs. •E. B. Goudie. Hymn
172 was sung and Mrs. I. Hudson led
is prayer. The Scripture was taken
by Mrs. R. McPherson. A splendid
topic, "Homemaking," was given by
Mrs. Pollard, which was enjoyed by
all Hytrin 273 was then sung, fol-
lowed by a "White Elephant Sale,"
which proved very interesting. A
delicious lunch was served .,by the
lunch committee. Next month's meet-
ing will be held at the home of Mrs.
G. A. Whitney.

St. Thomas' W. A. Holds Meeting.:--
The
eeting.-The business meeting of St. Thomas'
branch of the W.A. was held in the
parish hall on Tuesday, Nov. 6th.
Twenty members and three visitors
were present." Mrs. Gilbert, the presi-
dent, opened the meeting with the
W.A. hymn, "The Love of Christ Con-
straineth Us," the Litany, Lord's and
members' prayer in unison. Mrs.
Robert Archibald read the Scripture
lesson from 1 Chron. 29:10-20. The
various reports were read and ac-
cepted, and it was decided to omit
the evening meeting this month and
to have the' annual meeting on Nov.
27th. Of great interest to all present
was the presentation of a life mem-
bership to Mrs. Ada Reid. The Rec-
tor read the service of 'admission.
Mrs. VanEgmond presented the cer-
tificate of membership, and Mrs.
Pethick pinned on the badge. The
meeting closed with a special prayer
for the bale about to be sent and the
benediction. The Guild then took ov-
er the meeting, the most important
item of business 'being plans for a
bazaar, tea and sale of home cook-
ing, to be held Nov. 14th, from 3 to 6.
The Late David Wren Eyre. — The
death occurred at his home, 473 Crom-
well Street, Sarnia, on' Friday even-
ing, Nov. and, of David Wren Eyre, in
his 49th year. Mr. Eyre was born
near Seaforth and attended public
school and the Seaforth Collegiate
Institute." For the past fifteen years
he has been in the service of the
Postal Department -:in -Sarnia and was
well known and held in high esteem
by all who knew him. Mr. Eyre had
worked as usual the day of his death
and about eight 'o'clock in the even-
ing suffered a heart attack, from
which he passed away within an
hour. He had been a resident of
Sarnia for 18 years and was a valued
member of Patterson Memorial
Church there. He is survived by his
widow, the former' Etta Wright,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Wright, of Hullett; one . daughter,
Dorothy, and a son, Lloyd; also three
brothers, Harry and Will, of Sarnia,
and Charles -,Eyre, of Tuckersmith, A
shoat service was held at lifs late
home in Sarnia on Sunday at 3 p.m.
and the funeral was held from the
home of his brother, Mr. Charles
Eyre, .in Tuckersmith, on Monday
afternoon with Rev. A. W. Gardiner
officiating. Pallbearers were Messrs.
Ivan Forsyth, Harry Chesney, Harold
Jackson, Carmon Rowcliffe, J.
shall and Roy Consitt. The flower -
bearers were Donald Eyre, Arthur
right, Raymond Wright, Gordon
Wright, Allan Ellery, Donald Ross,
Campbell Eyre and Bert Wren. In-
terment was made In MaitIandbank
cemetery. Friends attended t h e
funeral from Hamilton, London,
Brampton, Galt, Niagara Falls, Inger-
sell, Belmont and Sarnia.

bridesmaid, wearing a wool dress,
fuschia shade, with corsage of Ameri-
can Beauty roses and baby mums.
Mr, Joseph Horan, London, was
groomsman. For travelling ,the bride
chose a green figured dress of silk
jersey with black coat trimmed with
silver fox and black accessories. The
happy couple left amid showers of
confetti and good wishes for a short
honeymoon to Brantford, later going
to Seaforth, where a reception 'din-
ner was held .at the home of the
groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.
Papple. During the reception Misses
Marjorie and Marilyn Papple. nieces
of the groom, presented Mr. and Mrs.
L. Papple with a number of lovely
gifts. On their return they will re
side in London.

in Grand Forks, N.D.

Mrs. Cruickshank, of Clinton (nee
Miss Emma Sturgeon) newly-weds,
when a pleasant evening: was spent.
'Enjoy Fowl Supper
The members of L.O.L., their wives
and sweethearts, enjoyed the 5th of
November fowl, supper on Friday eve-
ning last in the Town Hall, About
125 sat down to supper, after which
a short program was enjoyed, also
dancing, which concluded a pleasant
evening for all.
ROYS
A HaIlowe'en masquerade was held
here on Friday evening with many
queer characters on hand, to cele-
brate. The coinmittee ' in ch rge, Les-
lie Hocking, Bert Dairy rple and
Mary F. Scott, had some interesting
games and contests. Prize winners
were: Best ladies' costume, Jimmy
Hocking; best man's costume, Don
Hocking; best couple, Mrs. Carman
Park and Barry; best Hallowe'en
costume, Mrs, Ed. Hocking. 1.
The Mission Circle met at the home
of Mrs: Tom Colquhoun on, Saturday.
Marion Christie gave the topic. The
next meeting will be held 'at the Rus-
sell home.
A supper is being planned, honor-
ing four more of our returned boys.
Andrew Christie left on Saturday
for French River.
Mrs. Mervin Nairn and Calvin
Christie, who have recently had their
tonsils removed, are recovering nice-
ly.

Convocation Hall, University of West-
ern Ontario recently, the degree of
Bachelor of Arts, was conferred upon
Clarence S. Russell, eldest son of Mr.
and Mrs. Bert Russell, of Russeldale,
Clarence is a graduate of Mitchell
hig school and is at present on the
teaaing staff of Bessborough School,
Leaside, at Toronto.

Rev. R. G. Hazlewood attended®
luncheon given by the Moderator of
the United Church in London on Mon-
da•y,, Oct. 29th, and also the meetings
in the afternoon and evening, which
were. held in the Metropolitan United
Church.
Clark - Leeming
A quiet wedding was solemnized at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Leeming, McKillop Township, on
Thursday at noon, when their only
daughter, Kathleen Elizabeth, became
the bride of James Wesley Clark, on-
ly son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Clare,
of Walton. Rev. R. G. Hazlewend of-
ficiated. The young couple• were un-
attended. • To the strains' of the Bri-
dal Chorus, played by Mrs. R. G.
Hazlewood, the bride entered the liv-
ing room on the arm of her father.
She wore a gegen of power blue
crepe and a headdress of orange blos-
son3'a which her mother had worn on
her wedding day. She carried a bou-
quet of white and mauve mums and
fern, and her only ornament was a
gold brooch, which had belonged to
her grandmother. The wedding din-
ner was served by Miss Irene SLyder,
cousin of the bride. For travelling
the bride wore a brown .crepe dress
trimmed with braid, a brown ches-
terfield coat• and hat to match. The
grgiom's gift to the bride was a chest
of silver. 'The young couple will re-
side on the groom's farm at Walton.
