Hi • offered her home for the next seting, the first Tuesday in Octo- r.e Death bf Calvin Dowson, — The ath occurred in Scott Memorial ospital on Thursday, August 30th, of alvin Dowson, of Seaforth, and son the late Henry Dowson and Sarah ulver, of the Goshen Line, Stanley ownship, where he was born March 1864. When 16 years of age an cident befel him which caused him uch pain and suffering in.the follow - years. He was- very patient and r -e this affliction with fortitude. He as a good reader and also had a od memory. Mr. Dowson farmed ecessfully on the Goshen Line until 17, when he moved to Seaforth. He s a member of the former Metho- t Church which was located on his m.' He is survived by one brother, W. J Dowson, so of Bayfield, fiei y d and e sister, Mrs. J. Collins, of Michi- n. Refreshments were serv- ed and were much enjoyed by all. Died in Winnipeg—Death took place ie Winnipeg, on Tuesday, Sept. 4th, of Rev. Dr, Oliver Coleman. Dr, Coleman was born on the Parr Line in I875, the son of the late Francis Coleman and Eliza Jane Smith. He attended Clinton and Goderfeh high schools' and later completed• his edu- cation at Belleville Theological Col- lege. About fifteen year ago he re- ceived the degree of Doctor of Divin- ity. He had been in failing health for several years. Surviving are his wife, the -former' Hettie Taylor, of Bay City, Mich., and two sons, Mor- ley Coleman, of Ottawa, and Rev. Charles Coleman, of ,Winnipeg, and one daughtbr, Mrs. Glen Clark, Win- nipeg. Mr. George Coleman, of Eg- mondville, is a brother, and Mrs. -John Eigie, of California, and Mrs, 'Mary Ortwein, Winnipeg, are sisters. The funeral was held from his late home on Thursday, with interment in Winnipeg. Died in Beamsville.—A highly es- teemed resident of this district pass- ed away in Beamsville on Monday, Sept. -3rd, in the person of the late John Henry Webster, in his 78th 'year. He had been in failing health for some time,' and two weeks ago had gone to . visit his son, Lawrence. He was • born in Lucknow and in his youth was a stonemason, and in 1902 went to Illinois where he was engag- ed as a'contractor. He came to Sea - forth in 1914, and was a rural mail courier for sixteen years. He is sur- vived by two sons, • Gordon, of To- ronto, and Lawrence, of Beamsville, and two step -daughters, Mrs. Ben Rising, of McKillop, and Mrs. Odus Leach, of Illinois. The funeral was held from the Whitney Funeral Chap- el on Wednesday and was conducted by Rev. W. J. Patton. The pallbear- ers were Messrs. J. H, Ireland, Wel- lington Webster, Elliott Copgram, William Buckingham, Walter AREA and Tieith Webster. Tnterment was made in Greenhill Cemetery, Luck - now. Sudden Death of William Kerr.— The sudden death of Mr. William Kerr came as a distinct shock to his relatives- and ,many friends on Sunt day evening, Sept. 2nd. Mr., Kerr had been in his usual health until he was found by members of his family. He was born in Seaforth 53 years ago, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Kerr, and attended school here. He enlisted in 1916 with the 1610. Huron Battalion, being connected with the battalion band, and served overseas a number of years. He was also a faithful member of the Sea- forth Highlanders Band, being presh tlittit for a number of years Deceas- ed was a member of First Presbyter- ian Church and also a member of the Canadian Legion. Surviving -are his wife, the former Eva Chesney, whom he married in 1919, and one son, Roy, of Seaforth. The funeral was held from his Iate home on Railway St. on Wednesday afternoon,w, ith ,Rev. R. H. Williams officiating.' During the service Mr. James T. #eott sang "Beyond the Sunset." Interment was made in 'Maitlandbank cemetery, the pallbearers being Messrs. D. L. Reid. Allan Reid, W. 3. Duncan, John Earle, Arnold Westcott and Burton 0. Muir. The Canadian Legion attended the funeral in a body, and Mr. E. H. close sounded the Last Post at the grave.
